There is no other game quite like this one, the game mechanics are so unique and so addicting, it's an Adventure game with Time Management aspects but it's also a Role Playing Game with a little bit of Hidden Object hunting too! Most importantly, this is a game that will be enjoyed by any "Hero" willing to give it a chance...if you play the entire demo, I promise you will get hooked once you get familiar with the game mechanics, even if you think this is not your cup of tea!!

When you play this game, please stop and admire the realistic beauty of the graphics, think about the view or angle of the camera (you are looking down on the village) look at the tiny little foxes, birds, rabbits, and horses and you will be amazed at how incredibly detailed they are, they look so real!

Next, think about how much thought had to go into the interactive dialog, and the vastness of the inventory needed not to mention the inventory that would be needed several scenes down the road. This is a very complex game that clearly took a huge amount of work to make this village filled with tiny little people...and it costs less than 7 bucks! I have to give kudos to this developer for putting forth such an effort for such a small profit, and I encourage everyone to at least give the demo a try, this developer deserves it!

As I said earlier, this is a complex game and it looks complicated at first glance, but it's actually quite simple to play. Basically, you need to eat, sleep, and barter to gain experience and health, accomplishing this is truly an adventure!

If a character has an exclamation point above their head, click on it to converse with them. Characters may need help with a task in exchange for goods, others offer specialty services, niche inventory products, healing potions, clothing, etc. After a brief conversation with a character, you will get a list of ingredients, potions, or inventory items needed to complete the task at hand (you may have several tasks at any given time) Until you have all requirements, a red X will appear above the character, a green checkmark will appear when you have all items to fulfill their request.

To find the necessary items you must go on an adventure and forage the kingdom. Some ingredients are hidden objects, such as eggs in nests, or tiny little crabs on the beach, and even though they are tiny, they are unmistakable and easily recognizable, that's how amazing the graphics are! You may have to gather healing berries and flowers or search for a character that offers a specific trade or exchange, again, if the task at hand has a red X, you don't have all of the inventory required, once the green checkmark appears, you can complete the quest.

Hearts are the most important, hearts are the energy required for everything you do. To earn more hearts, you can always eat or sleep. You can forage for food throughout the kingdom (apple trees, berry bushes, eggs from nests, etc.) sometimes characters give you food to show their gratefulness when completing a task, it can be purchased with money or bartered. To eat, you must click on the fork & spoon icon on the bottom right, and then choose the food you wish to consume. To sleep, you must collect dry brush first to set up camp, and then click the Zzz icon above the campsite. You can also choose taverns or various other campsites, but unlike your campsite, it usually involves a fee. (sleeping is literally 40 winks, the screen darkens for a few seconds and then you collect the hearts)

All inventory items are stored in your Backpack and can be accessed by clicking the Backpack Icon located on the bottom left. The last game had a Map Icon that I absolutely loved, but I don't remember seeing one in this game so I hope Lonely Troops Games considers bringing this feature back? You can earn 26 different Achievements as well and have the ability to create several different profiles.

This is an open-world kind of game, when you click on yellow arrows, your character will adventure into an entirely new scene as you travel from the palace to wooded areas, caves, farms, beaches, and underground mazes throughout the kingdom. You will have to remember what characters provided what services and which scenes they were located in, but that is part of the adventure and I guarantee you won't want to stop playing once you get the hang of it!

I have every level of this game and I have played them over and over. They give me days of entertainment, not hours. If you can, start with game 1 (this is 2) and work your way up - it's a continuous storyline.

I'd rather explain the gameplay rather than the storyline. Lots of collecting of objects in order to earn money. You need the money to purchase food, hunting or other equipment in order to progress through the game. You start as a gatherer, but over time become a more seasoned character in the game. As your skills improve, you can buy better equipment which allows for a larger adventure and a larger purse. There are quests, you retain an inventory of objects, but the game requires strategy. If you don't have what you need to achieve your quest, then you're going to have to find it or sell something in order to have the money to buy it. You have to eat, sleep and fulfill your mission to complete the game.

It is not like the builder games where you collect berries and build a hut to progress to level 2 and repeat. You will meet people you will help, and they will reward you in order to progress through the storyline... and what a great story. Maybe a woman's husband is lost, and she needs help mending a fence. In order to fix her fence, you need lumber, but where are you going to get that? Get the picture?

It is not a fast-paced game for you click hungry folks. There is no speed to the game at all, it's more about the adventure. The game starts out slowly and builds from there. There is some conversation, but your character is mainly alone. I recommend you try the game and don't read too many reviews about it that will give it away - the story is half the fun.

Recommendation - when you first try it, just collect everything you can, you'll need it sooner or later. Further in the game you can be more strategic and that's all I'll say about that.

All of the Hero of the Kingdom games are my favorites, and I've played them many times repeatedly. This one is worth a tryout if you've never encountered HOTK games. You also need to collect a lot of stuff as you go along, and all of it is used at some point, if for nothing else than to sell for money.

It's loads of fun. If you give it a serious try, you'll become addicted. I'm really, really hoping they will come out with another one. Show less

Except for the issue with the sulfur, this game is pretty easy. If you ever get stuck, walk about the map until you find someone with a question mark above them, and help them with whatever problem they have, either to progress the story or to gain enough stars to open up more parts of the map (the more people trust you, the more secrets you learn).

The combination of hidden object game and adventure game makes this series one of my all-time favourites. I found the previous "Lost Tales" game to be somewhat lacking, but with this game we're back to the good old "click on everything, talk to everyone and gather every bit of flower, fur and food that's available" that I know and love. The story is good, the gameplay relaxing and the visuals remind me of the good old 90s games I played and loved. No bugs as far as I have experienced, and loads of fun.

Give the demo a try, the rest of the game is more of the same. You'll probably either love it or hate it, so buying sight unseen might be risky with this one. (But I do hope you fall in love with it, like I did.) Show less

I really had to buy this game. I love all the previous games. I love it that I have to wander around and look for things by helping people or just picking flowers and other things. I can play it at my own pace. I recommend this and the previous games.

Pertigal: you can find the last lost crate in front of the hidden island where the ship was.

I'll just go play the old ones. The Hero games remind me of some of the old D&D games I used to play. They require you to think and remember, so they are a great deal more entertaining. Based on 2-3 hours in the game: Bought it without even trying it which is very unusual for me. I do not regret it. Just as good as the other ones (have all of them). Great storyline and I love it that we play with a heroine this time.

It is different, I have played ALL in this series, yes I am sure people will blink at it and go OMG coz you have to run around a fair bit ( map helps) I do miss the 're-generating' things, but even so, they do give you just enough of everything you need, and/or ways to obtain, by selling what you don't need....... ...Show more

I was so excited to see a new offering of this series. I love this type of adventure game and wish they would make more of these. It is fun from beginning to end. All of the little tasks are enjoyable and relaxing. Good way to kill some time.
