After a little bit of research on this site it seems like the previous Travel Mosaics was pretty much detested by all. I have not played previous ones so can't really comment if this one is terrible in relation to the past ones and/or the same as the one just before it. I liked this one actually and this is the first time I have actually liked a Walkers game that I have played.

What did I like?
- The pictures are not bad at all. I can tell what I'm drawing, which is a good start. Are they beautiful? No, I wouldn't say that, but they're not terrible. I am glad that the colors are a bit more attenuated than in some of these mosaics games.
- Good challenge, but I play on Expert only. There are three other game modes so there should be something for everyone. I did have to guess in one or two cases, but that could be my logic failing.
- Two modes: fill in or cross out. I mention this because I'm playing on an ultrabook without a mouse and my 'right click' is often confused with a 'left click' in these games, which is insanely frustrating at times. The fact that I can cross things out to my heart's content alone makes this game a high contender for a mosaics game purchase on my part.
- The music: there is Mozart and Strauss in the game's music. It's not really Hungarian, but it's nice to listen to.
- The animal characters give you a bunch of history on Budapest.
- Lots of tile choices, though I ponder why there appear to be two tilesets that look like Swiss cheese...
- There are two bonuses that allow you to obtain hints. You are not overloaded with powerups, which increases the challenge and that to me is a good thing!
- The UI is kind of cute despite being minimalist. What I don't know is if the size of the play area is still smaller than it used to be, like in the episode just before this one where people complained that it had been reduced.
What did I not like?
- It would be amazingly awesome if the cursor was not the boring default cursor of my operating system, in particular, when I have changed modes from fill-in to cross-out. The amount of times I screwed up because I thought I was in the other mode... There needs to be some better visual cue to tell a player that they are in one mode or the other.
- It looks like the puzzles are locked behind completing the mosaics. I didn't get to the puzzles in the demo. I'm a perfectionist that must get three stars on each board. I could not check if you need to have a perfect score on all mosaics before being able to open a puzzle.
- I feel sort of meh about the subject. I kind of wish there was a travel game that wasn't about either Europe or North America. We have tons of those, why not somewhere in Africa for a change (like Kenya or Nigeria for example)?
For people who want a story, this game isn't theirs. I don't need a story in my mosaics game so that's not an issue for me. If you're like me on stories in mosaics games and/or you're not tired of the Walkers, this I think this is a decent mosaics game, one of the better ones. Show less
I recommend this game!

I ignore the animals and stories. I just want to do the Hanjie puzzles. I want to do them without being told I've made a mistake. I will eventually figure it out and make my own corrections. The Zen Mode lets me do that. I couldn't be happier.

Why can't we have a mosaics game without a cartoonish animal family? So tired of them, they add no fun or interest to the game. Surely there is enough talent amongst these dev teams to come up with something better to appease the adult gamers.

I enjoyed the music today, though an odd mixture. It did stop for a few moments at intervals but that's nothing new. I like the trivia feature in these travel games but it isn't always accurate. I skipped through the dialogue because it is not important to the game. Everything is pretty basic as far as mosaics go, the Walkers never offer anything that grabs my attention.
The pictures are so plain and simple. I sometimes can't figure out what they are, even with the labels. Very "boxy" appearance, no detail. The tile styles, the background, the colors are not appealing. The appearance is very flat and boring to look at, except for a few instances the colors are basic and bland. The night background seems easier for me to work with. The levels are locked but that usually doesn't bother me. What does bother me is that each level is no better than the ones before it, so I see no reason to keep them locked up as though there's a super duper surprise waiting for us.
The two bonuses offer minimal help if you get stuck, but the mosaics are pretty easy going so I found no need to engage them. I kind of liked the 2 puzzles in the demo, a little break in the monotony but you won't find any challenge there, either.
If looking for something simple to kick back with to escape a frazzled day, Travel Mosaics may be just the ticket. Just enough to keep your mind out of the nap zone. You won't find challenge here. There are far better mosaic games at BFG if that's what you are seeking. Show less

I had forgotten about the newer format of the game. Not sure why they changed it in the first place. This series used to be an instant buy for me, but I have eye problems from an injury and corneal surgery... and this game is unplayable for me. Wasted a credit on this one.
I don't recommend this game.

It seems they tweak the graphics a tad bit every time, and I do appreciate the effort, but the effort is in vain for this puzzle lover :( The problem is that no matter which of the 12 tiles or X's I choose, or whether I choose the dark mode or not, this is the only Mosaic game that I have a hard time seeing which cells are available.

I have a habit of using the cursor to count cells (OCD habit) and the bright, neon-colored row & column highlight opaqueness is way too dark so it's hard to see the empty cells. As the cells are crossed off, the grid becomes super "busy" because each of the 12 selections are patterns such as clovers, circles, diamonds, or pawprints. Why can't the crossed-off cells just be a greyed-out cell like most mosaics? To make matters worse, they have added thick gold grid lines that will have your eyes going bonkers midway through the puzzle...the gold lines would be awesome if not for the overload of patterns!
You can play in an Easy mode that crosses off cells for you and applies the appropriate colors, a Normal mode, a Difficult mode that only crosses off squares when the entire row and column have been completed, and now an Intuitive Mode which is a Zen Mode.
I appreciate that they ditched the weird "chapter as a whole" scoring system and just went with the standard 3-star method, deducting a star for each mistake. Now they just need to add a SKIP feature for the "Fun and educational dialogue with your favorite characters" (ROFL) and the annoying feature that requires you to delete the word "player" before you can add a profile name unless you want the profile name to begin with the name Player...really?
The grids are more compact and I found that my cursor was constantly activating feature explanation window pop-ups which were really annoying. If I kept the cursor on the grid itself the above-mentioned column/row highlights made it impossible to see the cells so I would move the cursor slightly to the right and because everything is compacted into a small box now, my cursor would inevitably scan over one of the features, such as the power-ups, which would then prompt a pop-up window box to explain that feature!
I do think most of the colors were eye-appealing, what isn't appealing is the completed images...guessing the completed image is the real puzzle!
