Could be a Great M3 but Falls Short

I only played the demo, so my review is based on this. It's not a HOG, it's a Match-3 game, I don't know why 'hidden object games' appeared in the breadcrumbs.

You follow a story that unfolds each time you play an M3 scene. When you clear the scene, you get an item that you plop somewhere in the story scene and the story continues on.

What I liked:

I only played the demo, so my review is based on this. It's not a HOG, it's a Match-3 game, I don't know why 'hidden object games' appeared in the breadcrumbs.

You follow a story that unfolds each time you play an M3 scene. When you clear the scene, you get an item that you plop somewhere in the story scene and the story continues on.

What I liked:

* Good music, decent/polished graphics and animations. The visuals and sound are the best part of this game. The characters are a bit childish without being too annoying in my view. I think the animations of the characters are well done, especially those of the spirits.

* Okay mechanics, nothing super new other than using power-ups recharges the power of one of your spirit buddies. Once they 'awaken', you can use their power. There are objectives to complete in each scene.

What I did not like:

* This game is oddly unstable on my Mac. It kept stalling during the story dialogue scenes and I kept on having to switch out of the game and force quitting it.

* The M3 scenes respond sluggishly: sometimes when I tried to do a swap, the game did not respond. Even when it did, there seems to be no animation showing what tiles are being swapped underneath the cursor, like in 99.9999% of other M3 games I have played.

The neutral:

* Mediocre story that has been done hundreds of times before. It can be skipped, well, if it works properly on one's computer.

* The M3 scenes are pretty basic: there are no cannons, shields or intricate puzzles to solve here. You just match a bunch of runes in order to complete the objective and grab the item you need.

So in all, I'm disappointed in this one since I do usually like M3 games and a lot of polish was put in the artwork and music. The game mechanics are mediocre. Add in the instability I experienced during play and it's not a go for me.

If you are on a Mac, I really recommend trialing this to make sure that it runs well on your machine. Show less

Great graphics, but not as good as those found in Casual Arts games. I found the cursor clunky and off putting.

I really can't give this much of a review because as I met the goal on the first level it never let me move to the next level. The screen would remain on the level I just completed and it would prompt me to make a certain move, but I couldn't do anything at that pont. It wouldn't move forward and so I would have to exit the game and start again. It was very frustrating.

I don't recommend this game.

I seem to be the lucky one with no glitches but this is far from a great game.
What I can't understand is the first game that came out in 2013
is far superior to this and if you look at the reviews for that it was well liked.
This game is very slow and you can not make a move until all the tiles have fallen, just as well there is no timed mode just limited moves or endless moves.

I have the first game and love it. This is a big no for me however because I had no glitches I was able to play the demo out and it does have potential but is of no help for the many who can't play it.
This is the same development team so no idea why this game has gone backwards and not forwards.
They really need to sort this out as it could have been much better . This is a classic example that if the first game is brilliant it does not follow that the next game will be. Show less

I am surprised this game is offered as a CE to begin with since I think there are some (SE's only) that are way higher quality.

This demo allows you to see the extras. Wallpapers & dl music tracks, 4 bonus trials (each with 8 levels.) None of this content would inspire me to pay double for this game to begin with. If it were another CE of Farmscapes or Cradle of Egypt, that would be a different story.

As other reviewers said, you can't get beyond level 1, which requires you find 10 red tile icons. I just wanted to add my 2 cents that it can't be played on Windows 7 either. You need the Windows key, or Control/Alt/Delete to get out of the game. If you try to get back in, it starts from the very beginning again.

Obviously there is an issue with this game. Maybe the testing got missed? I don't know but technical issues need to be reported to Customer Service. there's no point complaining about them here.

I realise this isn't about this particular game but I think people need to be reminded that there has been a worldwide pandemic for the past 2 years. And now there's a war between Ukraine and Russia ...Show more

And now there's a war between Ukraine and Russia (many devs come from this part of the world). I can't believe people are actually complaining about the lack of games being made during a pandemic and now whilst there's a war going on.

I'm sure BFG are doing the best they can during incredibly difficult times. It must be hard trying to offer quality games when very few are being made. There's plenty of amazing older games to play: perhaps we should all try being a bit more patient and a bit less critical. Show less

Hung onto CE hoping they would fix, as enamored of the music. Finally uninstalled sample CE game, and installed sample original game (4 and 5 star reviews). played until 60 min up and put in cart. Hope to get on bogo sale or at least go back on game club for 30% off and 6.99 back for game club price.

I recommend this game!

I got the fixed version on my PC, but it still won't go past the first game. I had to get out of the game. It wouldn't let me go anywhere else. Please fix this. It's terrible not to play a game with glitches.

Tried the demo twice, and each time I had to Ctrl/Alt/Delete to end it. Got no further than the first match 3 game, which wouldn't end and let me progress even when I had finished it. It kept putting a hint out even though I'd finished.
Can't be bothered if I'm honest with uninstalling and reinstalling this game.
Try it at your peril. You will never get the time back you have wasted on it....

I don't recommend this game.

The last 10 weeks only 2 "real" games and now that desaster. Again.

Game over after the first level. Only way to quit is to hit the "Esc"-Button.

After playing the first level the game didn't get further, it just showed me the next move - on a finished level !
