I usually don't leave reviews but I was surprised to see there was already a bad review on this game. MCF games are always fun and this one is no different. It's not the best in their series that is true (ie Fate's Carnival is my favorite) but still a fun game to play! I love how MCF has the multi-puzzles in their mini-games and the HOP have been more on the difficult side so far. It is worth ...Show more

for all the hard core MCF fans....this was a let down. but...still a nice game, we will never see the classy MCF games again....i guess the makers have all died or moved on. that said....this is a very short game, some cool puzzles........just play with an open mind.....

I am a bit surprised at the low ratings. I have all the MCF games(and have been a bigfish member forever) I've seen excellent games (yes Ravenhearst 2 and 3 were amazing, as were DireGrove and the 13th Skull. ) But this offering is every bit as good ; it has amazing graphics (MUCH better than the past few years) excellent voice overs, super puzzles(which I don't skip as I love the challenge) I ...Show more

I am a bit surprised at the low ratings. Now you're talkin' GrandMa! This game had me interested every single second. It is full of atmosphere the way a MCF title should be.

* I really liked the storyline based on the missing skiers which kind of reminded me of a chill version of The Blair Witch Project.

* I really liked the storyline based on the missing skiers which kind of reminded me of a chill version of The Blair Witch Project.
* I especially liked that you had us outside in the cold for a while. The artwork was outstanding and locations were absolutely gorgeous. But the coolest thing was you managed to make the player feel uneasy, all at the same time. Bravo.
*I loved finding the cassette tapes to play in the video recorder.
*The diary was great too. It holds enough story to actually read and the cutscenes are in sequential order with the notes so you can brush up on it whenever you want because it is all in one place and not scattered around town, as some of these games do.
* The notes, articles, brochures, photos, etc. looked real and they were all done with care.
If you like mystery games played in the snow, here are some others that have a similar feel:
- Phantasmat: Crucible Peak
- Crime Secrets: Crimson Lily
- Dreamwalker: Never fall asleep
- Phantasmat: Reign of Shadows

I want to take a second to say thank you to the developers that continue to work for our entertainment in the face of so much adversity. This fan appreciates you! What a beautiful job, to all of you that worked on this amazing game. You should be proud of yourselves (especially considering the conditions you completed it under.)

I had to take a few moments before actually deciding what to write. My initial reaction, like most people was, this really isn't the MCF we know and love. And it's true. But then I said to myself, "Did I enjoy the game? Did I have fun?" and a couple of other questions and the answer is "Yes!" So that's why I gave this game 5 stars. Is it the best in the series? Nope. In fact, I think the best game was Return to Ravenhurst and really that was because it was something bold and new at the time. We who played HOP games were suddenly given something completely new. Now we were'nt just searching for objects in each scene, there was a story and puzzles and live actors etc. It turned our HOP game into an adventure game. Now, years later, that's kinda hard to beat. I'm sure in the future, we will see some new innovations but for now, Grandma made us a good game and I found it fun and it kept my interest during this cold winter weather we're having here on the east coast. In the begining, the game tries to give us the "Dire Grove" vibes with a frozen mystery complete with missing persons and video tapes to find to piece together what happened. Then it becomes it's own game. There's also puzzle pieces to find and morphing objects as well. And can I stop and say thank you to developers who give you the chance to go back at the end of the game to find anything you missed? I love that. I get so frustrated in the old games when I learned I missed morphing objects because I got sidetracked by the story unfolding. After you complete the bonus game you can go back and find any missing puzzle pieces or morphing objects you missed. So that's a plus for me. The graphics were good and the story was pretty interesting. I like to take my time and explore and I don't really push through the games like I did years ago, so I didn't think the game was short. However, unlike the old MCF, it's pretty clear where you need to go and what objects you need. And it's pretty linear in how the game plays. But that's not a bad thing, I'm getting older and the running around through mutltiple locations to backtrack gets on my nerves. Graphics are good and the voice acting is also good, the puzzles were a mix of some real good challenges and some that were pieces of cake. I actually had to use the walkthough to complete two of the puzzles. All in all, this was a good game complete with bonus chapter, morphing objects and puzzle pieces to find, plus a supernatural mystery for the Master Detective to solve, so it has all the things that make this a MCF game. Would it be great to go back to revist the Dalimar's? Maybe or that might just be nostalgia calling. Give it a shot, it's a well made game and I'm glad the developers are still trying to keep this series alive. Show less

I LOVE the puzzles inside the puzzles, always a favorite with me. This a great game. I don't know why, but I like games associated with snow. Cold, winter, snow, I love it!!

Overall, the story is one of the best for me.A super successful adventure with a lot of fun and well-done puzzles. Jigsaw puzzles, spinning wheels until they are all in the right direction, spinning triangles are a few examples. Some puzzles are linked to several small puzzles which is really good.

The story begins when we take the lift up into the mountains to a rather deserted hotel. Only the owner and savior of a team is there. Originally there were also other guests, but they have disappeared, which of course leads to the task of going after them. Super exciting. I needed a total of about 5 hours. The game is ok in terms of time. There are longer ones but it is not too short either. Show less

The artwork, the atmosphere, the mystery that you anticipate, the intelligence that is obvious in all the steps that are taken - well, this describes an MCF game. The artwork, the atmosphere, the mystery that you anticipate, the intelligence that is obvious in all the steps that are taken - well, this describes an MCF game. I've played every one since Huntsville and Prime Suspects - the evolution has been breathtaking. Having said this, the glory days may have passed, maybe temporarily I hope? IMO, the 2 greatest MCF games are Escape From Ravenhearst (Ravenhearst is a truly wondrous collection) and Madame Fate's Carnaval. I can't imagine a better game than these. They are so amazing, deep and rich. The masterminds behind these games pulled out all the stops in crafting stories and scenes and artwork that are so enjoyable you don't want to see them come to an end. Just thanks for all of this quality, and keep them coming! This is a good game, for sure. Show less
