My review is based on the demo version played on a Windows 11 PC with a 27-inch monitor.

This game is a continuation of a series by the same developer who brought us Art by Numbers. Like this other series, the mechanics of Art Coloring 5 are flawless, and the production values are likewise very high.

Unlike the Art by Numbers (AbN) series, this game offers the following features:

(1) there are only 64 pictures to color (AbN has 72)
(2) the pictures are more realistic than those in AbN
(3) there are two modes - area coloring (like AbN) and pixel coloring (not offered in AbN); therefore, you get to color the same 64 pix in both area mode and in pixel mode, making a total of 128 challenges to complete if you play both modes.

More about the pixel mode in Art Coloring 5:

(1) the pictures seem to be made by removing cells through pixel "coloring" to reveal the area art picture underneath. This has both good and bad points - good, in that the pixilated version of the finished picture is much more "artistic-looking" than in most other pixel art games - bad, in that the complexity of the picture reduces the area covered by individual color groupings, making the time to complete each picture increase dramatically over the time it takes to complete the picture in area mode.

(2) the way the picture is uncovered is fun to watch, because individual pixels (even in a grouping of pixels) may have a blend of different colors or designs that are revealed when you click on a pixel or group of pixels of the "same" color.

Generally, I am not a fan of pixel art, but I am a big fan of area art coloring as it helps me build my patience while producing a beautiful piece of art.

With the combination of both area and pixel coloring in the same game, this edition of Art Coloring is a winner.

I think this set is much better than the last one from Art Coloring. The huge selection of colors are so gorgeous and when the pics are completed the result is wonderfully beautiful.

There are more animals this time which I really love. People images don't normally appeal to me but a few of these are fantastic. In the food category I am surprised that someone thought to include a watermelon, a ...Show more

There are more animals this time which I really love. People images don't normally appeal to me but a few of these are fantastic. In the food category I am surprised that someone thought to include a watermelon, a hamburger and a sardine can. Those are not my idea of art! Nothing can make those images appealing, imo!

Overall this is a very nice collection. I appreciate that the images are not what we typically find in our paint games. I love the interesting variety, especially with the animals. No locked first level, a pixel paint option, nice subject matter. However less food, fewer people, a color background option would make Art Coloring much more enjoyable, for me,

I thoroughly enjoyed the demo. Will definitely purchase when a good sale arrives. Show less

a few christmas pictures but not so many that it was too much. there were a good many very involved pictures that had many colors.

Although several developers have come up with some pretty cool features in their painting games, I don't think anyone has been able to top the picture selections, or color options that this developer has. I absolutely love that this developer allows us to color the pictures in any order (I started with the last picture just because I could)

I love how this developer takes advantage of the full-color palette spectrum to add slightly different hues to give the painting a dimensional depth! Speaking of taking advantage, until BF finds a way to stop the fraudulent voting, my full reviews will not be available here. The tiger pictures are beautiful.

I couldn't find anywhere else to post questions, so excuse my ignorance for putting this here. Would be very interested in these types of games as I have tried and like them to relax but would really enjoy if someone could tell me if you can somehow use the finished pictures as desktop backgrounds or screensavers? I'm not a computer idiot, nor am I a genius, but if there is a way to do this I ...Show more

You simply spread paintbrush around picture after choose color. Many SO TEENSY that I spent 30 min just on Tigers picture - NOT "REALISTIC", but NICE PICTURE COMPLETED.

I must be missing something as I don't see the appeal in just repeating over and over each color number, but it was interesting to try one of these.

I love the Art Coloring series, but this episode, AC5, has so many pictures of people doing things and a few portraits. I don't want to spend my time coloring a stranger riding a bike or posing for a headshot. Please stop! I enjoy scenes like still-life art, animals, flowers, food, some of the simple objects for a "quickie", and maybe a few scenery shots thrown in. Just about anything except for ...Show more
