I love games that have dragons, elves, and magic in the storyline, so I wasn't disappointed this time either. The wonderful graphics are partly beautifully dark and the background music creates the right atmosphere. Plus, there's something for everyone when it comes to puzzles and HOs. There are also some match 3 games built in against an enemy, which add to the excitement. I'm not a fan of rotation puzzles, but the others made up for it. I also like searching for the hidden objects (here: dragon scales, potions and morph objects).

This edition of the Royal Romances series is for you if you enjoy medieval stories with dragons, potions, and magic. It is a pretty good game with a variety of puzzles and hidden object scenes. There is plenty to do here. The player must also collect potion bottles, dragon scales, and morphing objects in addition to earning achievements.
The graphics are colorful and pleasing to the eye. There is interaction with the characters and the player occasionally gets to choose a reply. However, the voiceovers sound like they are computer generated and a little flat.
I took a star off because of the lack of creativity or thinking outside the box. This is a "deja vu" kind of game. Most of the tasks should be familiar because they've been done before. This is just another story game with a different title...same tasks. It's for players of all skill levels as it's an easy game. I reluctantly recommend the game because some players may feel like me...I have a lot of other games just like this one. Show less

Hopefully its sequel will bring back Ursula, while also revealing what happened to the King's unseen daughter from its bonus game. Likewise said sequel needs far less backtracking back and forth for every player, especially if it's only to retrieve just one item, or complete a single puzzle.
I recommend this game!

I think if all the Irritating stuff was fixed I would give it 5 stars but you really can't give 5 stars to some stuff you really hate or just plain don't like.
1. Audio. You have to stop the game for some audio and visual items like brightness. I put the voices all the way up but it isn't connected. The voices are connected to the music and the music drowns out the voices especially in the beginning. I turn down the Environment for a constant howling wolf. I turn down the Effects for the grading sound when entering a scene.
2. Wait 5 sec in the hops. Hate this. It's like enduring a tv commercial. A crow bar I needed for a hops wasn't even visible. Don't like memory hops. You know the clue guide for the hops isn't visible while you look. The this + that pictures were too small to play it.
3. No A+ on Visual. Hate the 2 tone hops, bright and dark. Part of the game doesn't look finished because it's in between concept art and done. I use to like the bright beautiful games now they are too dark in some scenes and have that ugly teal. The brightness can help but then the scene is washed out. I totally dislike the episodes and would prefer announcing chapters. Dislike the heart on the upper right of the scene and circle on the upper left. No really purpose and it takes away space in the scene that I'm playing. The main menu access should be by the tool bar. Don't mind the collectible indicator.
I did like the game play, some of the puzzles, characters and the story line. I liked the jigsaws and don't like them hard. I liked the stained glass hops and match warrior with weapon because I could see it well enough to do it. I Love that I can access the collectibles, morphs and boudoir while playing. At least with larger Dragon eggs, Morphing Magic potions and Dragon Scales you can find them.
It states Your dialogue choices have a impact on the game's storyline. Well the 6th chapter I answer wrong on purpose and I couldn't go into the house that I could see in the guide so I lost some game play. I replayed the game and the wrong answer didn't make any difference in the beginning chapters but I lost the right to pick up nuts and finish that gameplay. So some wrong answers made a difference and some didn't.
I can't recommend this game because it has too many Irritating stull. Show less

The graphics were beautiful, good voice overs and lip sync, characters look great. Muting all or some of the sounds is a great feature. A quiet game without little distractions. Like the ever-hooting owl for instance! The map was wonderful. Collectibles were very easy to find in spite of the dark scenes.
I enjoyed the puzzles/games much more than the HOPs. The dark HOPs and 5 second click penalty were annoying. Some items unrecognizable, some too small, some hard to determine where to use. The HOPs I did like were fun because they were more challenging than usual.
In the demo I was greeted with a lot of tasks that were bothersome. I was on a mission to save someone, not find and fix silly things along the way. The game went very slowly, not much going on, I aborted the demo with about 15 minutes left. Don't feel like I missed anything worthwhile. I was mostly just collecting needed parts and tools.
Domini fans will likely enjoy the game with it's theme and magical creatures. I found it not it not very entertaining. Show less

Completed Game: 6 Chapters-6.5 hours
21 Main Game Scene Locations +7 Bonus Chapter
Difficulty Range: Anyone who enjoys swarms of bees & filling lanterns with fireflies repetitively
Can anyone explain why the game starts on Episode 11 or tell me who was royally romancing whom? Isn't this game titled Royal Romances? I have played hundreds of HOPA games, and I have never been as confused by the storyline as I have with this one. Instead of switching between two Royal Lovers, it went from one character's plight to an entirely different character with no explanation in between.
Although there are 6 Chapters, they were short chapters that kept repeating the same tasks over and over. I don't ever want to fill another lantern with fireflies or smoke out another swarm of bees for the rest of my gaming life.
Gadgets/Helpers:
There are several Conversation Choices to make (11 X's in the Main Chapter & 4 X's in the CE Bonus Chapter) that will supposedly impact the story. Basically, you are choosing the Extended Play option with a few extra tasks, mini-games, and HO Scenes, but it doesn't change the story itself. One dialogue is a confident answer, and the other is a wishy-washy answer or something to the effect that ends the conversation as the character basically just agrees with your assessment so you can move forward.
At first, I was eager to get the entire package deal and accepted every side quest I came across. By the time Chapter 3 rolled around, I couldn't bear any more repetitive, cliche tasks and deliberately choose the wrong answer. I had cleaned a zillion dirty objects, picked a ton of locks, removed nails with ridiculous inventory items, and gathered resin from every tree in the forest to glue everything from statues to mirrors. I  repaired wheels, replaced gears, and fixed everything broken over the last decade. I used belts to operate heavy equipment, I poked things out of the tree limbs and bravely went out on a limb (literally). My kind soul gathered breadcrumbs, mushrooms, and apples to feed every critter along the beaten path, (in exchange for an inventory item, of course) I dug up buried items and protected my hands from sharp thorns...I even rummaged through a giant Griffin's nest to get a giant saddle...seriously? A saddle...at the bottom of a nest?

Collectibles/Morphing Objects (CE version only)
There are 14 Morphing Dragon Eggs, 14 Potion Bottles, and 70 Zoom Zone Dragon Scales that are used to purchase 14 Boudoir Items. They couldn't have chosen items that were more unappealing, a skeleton, a horn, 2 different books, weight scales, a quill & ink, an hourglass, a flask stand, a candle & holder (half burned) a fang, a spyglass, glasses, flint & steel, a footprint, and a gyro sphere, all of which are just sitting on a table.
Hidden Object Scenes:
These were the blandest Hidden Object Scenes ever. Most of the HOs were the same ones they have offered in their recent HOG games (Connection of Worlds & Secrets of Worlds) where you are tasked with finding objects listed three at a time. There are Interactive Lists, Silhouetted Shapes, Replace Items in the Scene, Swatches, Matching Pairs, Multiples of the Same Object, Objects without a Matching Pair,  and ? + " = Dragon type HOs.
Alternate Match 3 Game:
There is an alternate Match 3 Game available if you don't want to play a Hidden Object Scene. It's the same M3 game, the same boards, the same icons offered in every game. Why not at least change the icons or the M3 type once in a while???
Mini-Games:
I hope you love mini-games because there are 26 back-to-back mini-games (+10 in the CE Bonus Chapter) I'm a puzzle lover and I rarely complain about them but these games had the most confusing instructions I've ever seen! There are a ton of tile swaps along track, fragment placement puzzles, puzzles where you have to align elements where one affects another, placing pieces to match a pattern, selecting paths to avoid getting caught, etc. The only one I really enjoyed was one where you had to open all latches by rotating several gears.
Bonus Chapter (CE version only):
I'm not gonna lie, I didn't finish the Bonus Chapter because it was so boring! The story follows Illeon, several years before the main events in previous episodes (haha, I found the missing episodes!) You will choose the Conversation Choices/Extra gameplay 4 more times. There are 10 additional mini-games, and 5 Hidden Object Scenes and you will continue searching for 3 Collectible Potion Bottles, 44 Morphing Dragon Eggs, and 12 Dragonscales to purchase the final Boudoir Items.
Collector's Edition Extra's: (CE version only)
15 Wallpapers, 15 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 27 Movie Video Cutscenes, 39 Achievements, 25 Replayable Mini-Games, 20 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 14 Morphing Dragon Eggs, 14 Potion Bottles, and 70 Zoom Zone Dragon Scales that are used to purchase 14 Boring Boudoir Items, 6 Main Chapters, +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.
