The Scarlet Hyacinth is one of the better story offerings of late. This collector's addition has a lot of content for the player. In addition to hidden objects and puzzles, there are collectible pill packets to find (interesting choice), patient pictures, and poisonous plants. As always, there are achievements to accomplish.

The Scarlet Hyacinth is one of the better story offerings of late. This collector's addition has a lot of content for the player. In addition to hidden objects and puzzles, there are collectible pill packets to find (interesting choice), patient pictures, and poisonous plants. As always, there are achievements to accomplish.

The graphics and sound are good. The story opens with a mini-movie that views like a comic book. One thing that could have been done better is the same narrative written for the character is written below, so there are two copies of the same dialogue on screen...oops.

The fun factor is high on this one and the level of challenge is easy to moderate. They don't just hand solutions to the player. All this being said, if you are a hidden object gamer, there isn't a lot of new ideas. Within the first few minutes, you fill find bees you need to get rid of, nails in a wooden box that need removed, gloves to pick up objects, etc. So creativity is minimal.

As for the big picture, I loved the game and will continue to play. There's something comforting about a solid, well done game with a lot of content and goals to achieve, even if some of it has been done before. I recommend this game to people of all skill levels. Show less

Good game . I liked the main game by far, The bonus seemed rather short and ending seemed rather abrupt.
Like all games in this type of game one has to search for clues by finding items to use as one goes through the game. Most items are easy to use but one still has to 'hold' on to them to find a use.

Some of the items in the find the item scenes were hard to find but I don't want it to be too easy.
Try the free part and if you like playing it you should get the game as it is pretty similar throughout the game. Ratting done after finishing game and bonus game. Show less

I enjoy playing games by this developer. It makes a change to play a game based on crime because it made me think more about what to do in the game

The games from this series always guarantee an exciting murder hunt. In addition to the good graphics, a well-assorted assortment of puzzles is always offered. I don't want to complain too much now, because that can be seen in many game series.
In any case, the game is well made as usual and at least doesn't let boredom arise.
What bothers me about the HOs is the "time penalty" if I click wrong too many times. I feel a bit tamed there. That's why I often switch to match-3 mode, which unfortunately doesn't offer any innovations either. Show less

I have not been purchasing Do games lately because they all have the same repetitive tasks over and over. This one is finally different. I'm really enjoying this game and appreciating the newness. Glad I gave it a try. It was a buy for me.

Hopefully it's next sequel will have far less backtracking back and forth for its player, especially if it's only to either collect one item, or complete a single puzzle. Also that its cutscene transitions and dialogues won't be so comic book layout, which looked absolutely ugly, compared to the very rest of the game's texture. Beside with ever player seeing more of its new character chief Palmer. ...Show more

I liked the 12 morphing poisonous flowers, 15 patient photos, amusement park, gameplay, length, nice concept arts, voice sound level is good and story.

I liked some things, and I disliked some things.

I liked the 12 morphing poisonous flowers, 15 patient photos, amusement park, gameplay, length, nice concept arts, voice sound level is good and story.

I disliked wait 5 sec in the hops. I want to click to my heart's content. I dislike not being able to access all the settings without going to the main menu. The environment, voices and brightness you have to stop to access. Don't like episodes and chapters announced that aren't in the guide. It makes no sense to me. Don't like the smile circle and location in my upper scene. They don't have a real purpose and things are better on the tool bar section except for collectibles. The Operation Room Boudoir is icky. The hops aren't fun anymore they are more like puzzles, don't like missing letters hops. don't like the part light and park dark in a hops scene. Some sounds are so terrible like knock, knock, knock at Noah's apartment. This + that hops was so frustrating with the super small picture that you can barely make out. Don't like that you cut way back on the amount of videos.

Bonus chapter is a prequel.

Replay 18 hops, 22 puzzles, 16 videos and 5 music. Has 7 chapters + bonus, 12 wallpapers, 12 nice concept arts. Show less

Great game but way too many mini games. I mean, MANY!! If you play in Custom Mode, you can skip them, but then it has to show you how the game was solved. IMO, a waste of time. Otherwise, a really great game.
