Hey, does anyone else who plays on Mac find that the "gear" feature doesn't work?
I love this game, but without the forums, you can't actually get answers to weird questions without flailing around in the review posts. Support is too busy being important to pay attention to the question any more!

I always love these games and this one is no exception! Even without the "gear" option, it's fun...

... which brings me to my only complaint. I like to play these games in untimed mode... won't bother to explain why, just a preference. However, in untimed mode, apparently you don't get the gear! Every chest I've opened that is supposed to have gear in it has something else... like 30 wood or ...Show more

I really enjoy this series of games and have played them all. New storylines, but some of the levels look very familiar from older versions. Otherwise, I had a blast and completed every achievement and all levels in gold. Some were very challenging and had to be played several times to get the gold distinction. I highly recommend this game.

I love this series! This new release does not disappoint. The same characters are back with a new story line. There are new additions such as obtaining "gears" to use to enhance different abilities of John, Mary and Gremlin. The gears can be switched to a different ability depending on what needs to be done to complete the level.

I love this series! This new release does not disappoint. The same characters are back with a new story line. There are new additions such as obtaining "gears" to use to enhance different abilities of John, Mary and Gremlin. The gears can be switched to a different ability depending on what needs to be done to complete the level.

For example, John's gear can be switched from allowing him to open gates for free to enhancing his fighting skeletons and wolves.

I found completing levels was challenging. I decided to try the normal level first, and I can't imagine how one could get gold at the expert level but will try once I complete the game at normal level.

This game is not for everyone, but couldn't the same thing be said about any game provided by BFG? Someone says it is too dark. I say the same thing about games about the supernatural. To each his own. Someone said there are no instructions. I contend that the pop-ups give some level of what to do. I guess if one has never played New Yankee, it would be confusing. As one who has played ever release, I can tell you this one is as good, if not better, than former releases.

I love this game and look forward to the next release! Show less

As far as the new feature 'gear' goes...after you play a few levels you can dress your character with 'gear' that gives you extra bonuses..go faster etc. Really it's simple. And if you press the '?' at the top of any game screen, that will give you both a verbal and numbered strategy ...Show more

I really recommend this game. It's not overeasy, and I find myself repeating quite a few levels, as I think I 'have it done', and suddenly find I had been too slack in continually collecting another resource I did not know I would need. This is great for a 'strategy' game. I go back in with a whole new game plan and manage to get full stars.

If you have loved the other games..this is just as good with a few new twists. Try the demo. I love it. Show less

Not sure what people are complaining about but this is a good next installment in this series of games. Instructions are given in the tutorial, as in all other games. Gear is explained in the tutorial plus seems pretty self-explanatory. If you want more info, just use the strategy guide. No need for a forum. I also enjoyed the subtle changes in obstacles and challenges. No complaints here.

I've played every version of this series. I was excited to see a new one, then unsure because of the negative reviews. I'm glad I decided to give it a try. I don't think the bad reviewers play Strategy / Time Management games. This is a fun game, the directions show up as you play, I'm not sure what the problem is.
