For quite a while now, Domini has added a star system to their games; it amazes me that after all this time, self-proclaimed "experts" haven't taken the time to understand that the game uses a star system to determine which branch of the story you'll be playing.

For quite a while now, Domini has added a star system to their games; it amazes me that after all this time, self-proclaimed "experts" haven't taken the time to understand that the game uses a star system to determine which branch of the story you'll be playing.
It is NOT a reward system, like many reviewers have said in the past, to show you've made the "right" choice... there is NO RIGHT CHOICE, just a series of decisions that will navigate you through the different outcomes of the game. Think of them as forks in the road, so you get the ability to replay the game and obtain a different experience. That's MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.
They even tell you which choice earns you a star, which one doesn't... so take notes as you play along and make different choices NEXT TIME.
That being said, it is a fairly standard game in the Domini tradition: great graphics, bright colors, diverse mini-games.
Play the demo with an open mind; if you've bought a previous game from their offerings, try what I've explained above... it'll give you a new perspective on the "gold star" system.
And, for crying out loud, STOP talking about being REWARDED with a gold star for making the RIGHT choice like a young child in school. It's a gimmick, but it's a clever one once you understand its true purpose. Show less

I never buy from this developer but this one I found better.
The colours were not as in your face dark. Like the music. Not a ton of things to do in one scene. Seems to make more sense than some of the others. BUT! I agree with other reviewers that there are too many distractions and depending on your mood (or mine) that day it can really turn you off of buying the game. Wish they would listen. ...Show more

I never buy from this developer but this one I found better.

The constant pop-ups (stars, etc) that interrupt game play or prevent you from seeing things are too irritating to continue playing. Does Domini really expect people to purchase their games if they can't be bothered to correct text mistakes before game release?

If you have sloppy text with misspelled words, then I have no interest in buying.

I am generally a fan of Domini Games, and I figured this one would be really good since it took them a little longer to come out with it. Actually, it was worse. This is the first Royal Romances I won't be purchasing.

The quality was lower overall, including bizarre typos in the pop-ups when you find collectibles. I don't get upset over a typo here and there in character dialogue/narration, but the pop-ups that you have to see every time you find a collectible? Really sloppy. "Cicus" and "Cirus" instead of "Circus" in two pop-ups you see over and over again. Come on.

Sounds were missing too, and the music didn't change during a "battle," it was super calm and the same as the overall scene - again, sloppy.

There were also more puzzles than anything (too easy too), and some of the areas were kind of boring, with not enough to click on and do, in my opinion.

The graphics were beautiful though, and I loved the vibrant colors too.

I really couldn't get into this game, despite initially being excited about it. Details are part of what make a great HOPA game, and this one is lacking. It seems like it lacked someone going through it critically before publishing. Show less

I play a lot of these games and it seems to me that the quality, length and overall, Big Fish has been lacking in quality. This has gone on for a few years now. First was told it was because of Covid, but that's over now. So what is the problem?? Games are not the quality they used to be.

I only played the demo and found this game to be a lot more about mini games than HOGs. The HOGs that were on offer weren't the usual HOG that I prefer.

I don't recommend this game.

Cute Game. Nice colors. A bit too much talking but you can click through it. However here we go with the Stars again. If there was an option to turn that off it would be good. But because I don't need a gold star when I do something it is a not buy for me. Sorry, way over games with Stars as a reward. That is the reason for low rating.
