I've played a lot of different characters in a lot of different games. I've been a female detective, I've been a male detective, I've been a mother, I've been a father, I've been a sister, I've been a brother, I've been a witch, I've been an Aunt, I've been a Princess, I've been a Queen (I don't think I've been a King??) I've even been a vampire before! This however, is the first time I've been a bird, a hamster and a snail, yep, for about 5 minutes I joined the slug kingdom! There's a perfectly good explanation for all the shapeshifting I do, it's because I'm a Alchemist with the unique ability to transform into just about anything. Not only can I shapeshift, but I can whip up some pretty unusual recipes with just a few plants and berries, and they always seem to be at my disposal just when I need them the most!

This certainly is an unusual game to say the least. Even though I'm sarcastically describing this game's plot and features, I had fun playing yet another game where the King calls upon my services. (at least I'm not a Princess, but now I think I want to be a King) and I immediately bought the Collector's Edition. No Alchemist would be credible without a portable Alchemist Box, so naturally I have a space age (you'll see what I mean) state of the art Alchemist Box that allows me to whip up a ton of shapeshifting potions. The icons to the left of the inventory bar will show you as either human or animal just in case you forget that you just drank a huge bottle of the potion you just got done whipping up. I just hope none of them wear off too soon, I'll really get myself into a pickle then! In the Collector's Edition version, each scene has a collectible Jigsaw Puzzle piece to find, (which I think may become available as a Screensaver, but most of the CE extras don't become available until the main game is complete, and I still have one chapter remaining) and some of the scenes have collectible Figurines to find which also give you brief descriptions about them, such as Trolls and Fairies and other mythical forest creatures.

The Hidden Object Scenes are pretty decent, and every HOP was different. Just in the demo alone, there were several styles offered. There are Interactive list finds, Morphs, Multiple of the same objects, Multiples of sharp objects, Fragmented Object finds, Symbol finds, Progressive Interactive Silhouetted Shape finds, Outlined Drawing finds and even an interactive soup recipe with Silhouetted Shape finds. You can opt to play a Matching Pair game where you flip over tokens that aren't blocked by other tokens to find matching pairs, if no pairs are available you can click the arrows to rearrange the tokens.

The Mini Games are fairly easy, but once again, they were fun to solve. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo as well as a few notable games after the demo:

1) Follow instructions to set the temperature and all the conditions before pouring the ingredients of 3 different recipes.

2) Reach the castle, when the arrow stops moving click to open up a problem to solve: A-use directional arrows in a specific order to maintain balance. B-find the right path through mountains by clicking on the mountain that stands out from the others. C-find pairs of identical birds. D-repeat the sequence of clouds lit up by thunder and lightning.

3) Place stained glass fragments correctly to form a picture.

4) Click on the thorny vines in a specific order and drag them to the bottom of the screen to remove them.

5) Ring the bells in the order depicted on the beam above them, using the cypher clue sheet to discover which bell corresponds to which musical note.

6) Compare the DNA of the two samples by choosing a microbe from one sample, then switching to the other sample and choosing it's matching microbe for a total of 3 matching microbe samples.

7) Solve the puzzle by combining the puzzle pieces in the right order, clicking will rotate each puzzle fragment.

8) Find an exit through the tunnels by interacting with each scene to open up the gates. Each gate has a specific symbol so you will have to figure out which symbols to follow using a clue shown.

The Collector's Edition has 8 Wallpapers, 6 Concept Art pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, replayable Hidden Object games, replayable Mini Games, 15 Collectible Character Figurines, 34 Collectible Jigsaw Puzzle pieces, 15 Achievements to earn, Fairytale Character Bios, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter. Here's what I like about the game so far:

1. The colors and graphics are very distinct. Each scene is picture perfect with everything crisp, clear, and concise.
2. The cutscene at the beginning of the game piques your interest (the wolf chasing the young girl).
3. An interactive map that is provided for you at the beginning of the game.
4. You're an alchemist (or you can pretend you're a witch putting together a spell, as this is almost the Halloween season) who has to put together potions in order to accomplish certain feats. These potions give you the ability to fly and to shape-shift into various animals.
5. Interesting HOS and fun mini-games.

As always, please check out the demo, as you might find that you like this game just as much as I did. Enjoy :)

What a wonderful surprise and a refreshing change after the recent dark and rather morbid games that have been released! Queen’s Quest 2 Stories of the Forgotten Past is a beautifully crafted fantasy game that is so well-designed that you feel like you’ve stepped into the story. I love everything about this game and for me it is an instant addition to my gaming library.

In Queen’s Quest 2 you play the game as an alchemist who has shapeshifting abilities. Recently you concocted a potion that will allow humans to fly – an awesome discovery that adds to your shape-shifting abilities. As the game begins you are called to the castle for a meeting with the king. Wolf, who was the King’s head of security and friend, has been killed and the King wants you to investigate the murder to find out who is responsible. Of course, the King’s general doesn’t feel you are a capable detective and he lets the King know it so, as a test, the King requests that you find and repair a malfunctioning portal. Once that little task is done your adventure begins.

The graphics are gorgeous and full of beautiful color even though there are some darker scenes included as well. The characters are all realistic with excellent voiceovers and a dialogue that makes sense. There are many fantasy characters as well and I happened to love the talking cauldron early in the game whose antics had me laughing.

Your tools include an alchemy kit where you can prepare various potions using ingredients that are found as you move through the game. There is also an interactive map that does change at times depending upon who you might be since your view of the realm may change from time to time.

The HOP scenes are interactive and some have a bit of a twist. Some of the items are well-hidden and I did have to use the hint button a couple of times. For the most part, the HOPS were excellent with gorgeous graphics. Most of the puzzles seemed easy but they were still a lot of fun. If you read my reviews you know that I enjoy puzzles in a game but I don’t always need super challenging puzzles as sometimes it is just nice to play a game with puzzles that are a bit more relaxing.

As I mentioned earlier I love this game. I think for right now I have had my fill of creepy games and have been waiting for something that is colorful and entertaining. Queen’s Quest 2 Stories of the Forgotten Past fills the bill and is like a breath of fresh air (particularly when I am soaring among the clouds – lol). Another nice thing about the game is that although it is a fantasy game there is no evil menace that wants to take over the world but that doesn't mean there still isn't a lot of court intrigue. I love the fairy tale storyline that incorporates different tales that I read as a child. Although this game might not be one that everyone will like, I think there are many gamers out there who will enjoy this game. As always, I recommend that you try the demo first to see if Queen’s Quest Stories of the Forgotten Past is a game you will enjoy. Show less

This game looks simple, and it is SOMEWHAT, but it's also a good story with a strong female lead. She can make potions that do all sorts of things to her physical appearance. It's a good 'whodunnit'. The music was airy, the graphics were excellent and the nature sounds were so soothing. I hope you play this game!!

I'm a alchemist and I make potions. There is a potion cube that I make potions that solve problems. I didn't think I would like it but I did. I loved making the dragon potion. Loved the hummingbird. It's a pretty game.

There are 4 chapters. Some morphs in the hops.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this unique journey that these amazing developers created. The mini-games, the unique, interactive HOPS, and silhouette items are delightful. This is one incredible game!

The map rocks; the flow is awesome; ingenious tasks and games; cool, crisp graphics that are really beautiful; fantastic cut scenes; great voiceovers. One minor aspect, once again, is that the developers need to be more careful with spelling and grammar--only found one error but by accident actually. This does not take away from the ingenuity and excitement of the game, though. This game is a sheer pleasure to be playing and I don't believe I've ever heard of these developers before but I commend Brave Giant highly!

I love the one piece of art where the parents seem so forlorn, (slight spoiler), and they have a German Shepherd, who needs something very important from you, but upon my perusing through that great cabin, there he his walking back n' forth like a crazy dog until you obtain that item for him! I cracked up watching him going back n forth like an expectant father! LOL!

In one scene there is a cabin, you need to find the children of the parents who seem to be forgetful. The wife is standing in the background, while the husband sits at the table, which has food on it and is beautifully set with some lovely, fine china. To find out more, buy the SE at least. You won't be sorry! The artwork is beautiful. Love the colors! Love the storyline!

Other scenes involve forests; meeting up with Robin Hood, and so forth. You will look forward to meeting different characters in this amazing journey.This is one class act game! I'm kinda' sorry I didn't purchase the CE version, but I just might buy it after all!

I highly recommend this game! It's a keeper and refreshing for a change! It deserves a 5-star rating! Show less

Having liked the first Queen's Quest I gave this a go and am I glad I did. This is a lovely fantasy game with beautiful clear and colourful graphics.
