It's been 20 years since you witnessed a monster kidnap your baby brother Adam, and you never thought you'd ever get closure. All that changed when you received an anonymous letter claiming to have information about his whereabouts, but what happens next is simple unimaginable. Welcome to the Artem Estate, Amy, make yourself comfortable, you're going to be here for a very, very long time. You can check out any time you like, but you can NEVER leave! Or should I say Welcome to my Nightmare?
Tales of Terror has hit the mark with the plot, however, not so much with the gameplay. The storyline is pure genius, and has great potential as a psychological thriller, one that I'm expecting to make many twists, and "oh no you didn't" moves. Tales of Terror proves that you don't have gore to make a game creepy, and they have ended the demo perfectly, you will want to continue this game for the story. Now about that however part, the gameplay is so predictable, you'll know what item you're looking for before you even find it, and the Hidden Object Scenes are the easiest I've seen in quite a while. Logic doesn't seem to be a factor either, I'm trying to escape from mad men, lucky me, I get a rather large and very sharp knife handed to me, yet after using it to cut some vines, I discard it? Later I need a cat to move so I decide to scare the living bejeebers out of him with an alarm clock because opening the cabinet directly above him didn't phase him. The icing on the cake is when I have to shoo away a teeny tiny bug with some "air" and I almost forgot the part where I couldn't put my hand on a spiderweb....while I was trying to escape, keyword escape, I'm sure a spider's web won't be my reason for not escaping! But despite the extreme hand holding, I'm giving this game 5 stars because I love the story, for the same reason that after playing thousands of games, my all time favorite game is still the original Phantasmat because no other game has been able to top that story, but this one comes close.
The Hidden Object Scenes are pretty easy, most requiring you to find a few items that match the Silhouetted Shapes which then open up an Interactive List find. The items you need to open up the list are too easy because the cursor changes to a hand. There are also Bold Text items to find as Keywords in sentences, and some Progressive, Interactive Silhouetted Shape finds as well. Most of the scenes are repeated, a feature I hate, and there are Morphing Objects in the first phase of each HOP.
The Mini Games aren't bad, but nothing really new is offered. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Select a useful object to disarm the trap using your Glowing Orb. (an unnecessary amulet feature)
2) Unlock all 4 photo holders, selecting one may affect others.
3) Fill all slots on the right side by dragging tokens within limited moves, using arrows to move tokens to the desired locations. (Easy/Hard options)
4) Make a bridge using all wooden planks of different configurations.
5) Swap tiles then press the start button to move tiles along a path until the picture is complete.
6) Remove all the triangles by selecting the 3 shapes that are combined in the image, then press the triangle on the board where the shapes intersect.
7) Enter the code according to the cards using knobs to change the image next to them.
8) Lead Amy to the stop button by the door using directional arrows, and avoiding the swinging blades.
9) Lead Harry's token out of the estate while avoiding obstacles along the way.
10) Recreate the picture by rotating hexagonal tiles.
This Collector's Edition has 8 Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art pictures, 14 Morphing Objects within the Hidden Object Scenes, 18 Mini Games, 25 Mini Games, 6 Music Soundtracks, 36 Hidden Drawings, 15 Achievements to earn, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy the nightmare! Show less

Tales of Terror Art of Horror is the fourth game in the series. I must say that this has been a series where every game has been excellent and from only playing the beta and demo it looks like Art of Horror will be just as terrific.
You play the game as a young woman whose brother Adam was kidnapped twenty years ago when he was only an infant. You receive a letter informing you that Adam is alive and has been living at the Artem Estate. When you arrive at the estate you are greeted by Joanne Artem, a sweet grandmotherly type lady who invites you in and offers a warm cup of tea. Your first mistake is to trust this sweet little old lady and your second is drinking the cup of tea. You soon awaken to find yourself a prisoner who must now escape the estate and find a way to take Adam with you. Are you ready to face the challenges ahead and free yourself as well as other prisoners you might encounter? There is still the lingering question of where Adam can be found or if he is still alive. Play this excellent new Tales of Terror as you encounter the true Art of Horror as you forge ahead with your quest.
This game has it all for me with wonderful graphics, an excellent sound package, great HOPS and Puzzles and a thrilling storyline.
The HOPS are very creative and feature one that I love where we must locate items on a playground merry-go-round. I have seen variations on this type of scene in the past but this one is very well-designed. We do visit some scenes twice but they are always a bit different and not boring. The puzzles are mostly quite easy but the story is so interesting I didn’t want to have to solve a difficult puzzle every time I turned around as has been the case with a lot of recent games. I do enjoy puzzles but I am primarily an HO lover and truly enjoy creative HO scenes in in games more than a ton of puzzles. Puzzles add to the enjoyment and gameplay but not when there are too many and perhaps too challenging to be enjoyable.
If you prefer the CE version of a game, this one includes collectibles, morphing objects, achievements, wallpapers, artwork, video, music, a strategy guide, and the bonus game.
I loved the beta for the game and I’ve been waiting for its full release for months. It made my day when I checked the week’s upcoming games on Monday and saw that Art of Horror is finally here. As soon as I went to BFG this morning, I hit the buy button. Now I can spend the day happily playing my way to finding Adam and escaping the dreadful Artem Estate. It might seem like an easy game to some but I find it enjoyable with a terrific storyline that held my attention and made me want more. As always, please try the demo to see if Art of Horror is a game you will enjoy. Show less

It is a good, solid storyline that will keep you captive. At least it did in my case. Just the trial version demonstrated what I think is a terrific game waiting for us. I have read some reviews placing it on the easy side, but it matters little to me if the story keeps me hooked...and it did!

I really got the heebie-jeebies upon seeing a few unsettling things on the grounds of the estate. So far, in the demo, the only relief I had in this psychological thriller was a humorous moment involving a rat on the steps, and then a lovely cat sitting near a ruined old car. Reminded me of a previous pet.
The graphics are nice and sharp, and are sporting colors that represent the scenes and evil atmosphere very well. Not much talking so far, but pretty sure the voices will all sound great. Sometimes inferior voices can take away from a good story. The music made me edgy, like something was about to reach out and touch my already jittery state of mind. I get caught up in games and movies because of my overly active imagination sometimes. Besides, sneaking around a creepy mansion without getting caught by these psycho killers is hard work.at my age. (lol)
The puzzles and HOGs were very enjoyable, not terribly challenging. But there are different difficulty modes to tweek the challenges. I like trying the different modes just to see how much they do change. The morphs and hidden sketches were good. I found only a few in the demo. The sketches were the sticklers, I discovered not a one. Check out the really creepy dolls in the extras, the hidden eyes are involved. Yikes! Never liked dolls anyway!
I loved what I have seen so far, so I will certainly buy this game when a good sale shows up. 5 stars seems to be an appropriate rating in my opinion.

Another quality game in the Tales of Terror collection. Right up there with the likes of Puppet Show, Mystery Trackers, and Haunted Hotel series.

However, with the old-game atmosphere and all the modern day bells and whistles, Art of Horror will leave you as it did me--a good old-fashioned scream Not sure if other reviewers were playing the same game or had the same mind set because you gotta put yourself there to appreciate the intensity. Game is intense so here's a warning.
Wait, let me cover a couple details such as the game is quite lengthy. Took me three days to finish and the challenge wasn't easy either! Puzzles were creative, hidden objects were do-able and fun. Story is suspenseful. What else do gamers want? I have no idea and expected a more outpouring of positive reviews! Yikes! Don't save those reviews just for the show cased big names!
Move over other supposedly, suspenseful games, Art of Horror will leave you looking over your shoulder and wanting more! Enjoy! -Mama Mia- Show less

First time playing TOT Games! I am not disappointed. Played the DEMO version and it was packed with twists and turns. Did the Butler do it or Is the sweet little old lady spike everyone's tea with knockout drops and what for you may ask...you figure it out, but it will keep your interest on a high alert! Liked the graphics, storyline and characters. Mini-games are fun too.
