This is a glorious game with a compelling story, colorful and detailed graphics set in Arabian Nights setting. I love the plentiful puzzles which are challenging, but not skip-hard. The HOP's are easy and don't strain the eyes. I highly recommend this game to all players beginners to expert.

I absolutely loved the artwork for this game. It is the Middle East like we do not see very often. Very colorful, bright colors, gorgeous interiors, a wedding reception circa 1920s with flowers everywhere, catchy Middle Eastern music in the background.

The story is a little bit hokey, but easy to follow and developed enough to give just the right amount of suspense as to what will happen next.
This is a long game, with many puzzles and HOPs. Expert mode allows Hint & Skip, but no helpful messages and will be challenging, except for the eagle eyed observer on the look out for subtle clues for objects to pick up.
The game is extremely well done and should be in the collection of any HO devotee. Show less

Grandma is back with game number seven in the Whispered Secrets series – Forgotten Sins. How exciting! You and your friend Carol have been invited by your former college professor, Dr. Lomonosov to visit the excavation site of an ancient city that has recently been discovered near Agora. As soon as you arrive at the hotel where you are staying, a young woman races into the lobby asking for your help just before she collapses. It turns out that Emma is a collector of rare antiquities and when she revives she asks you to help her identify the strange parcel she is holding. Well, this is your first big mistake and only the beginning of your trouble-filled adventure because when you open the parcel you find that it contains a cube that is a powerful artifact called the Cube of Sins. I don’t want to give away more of the story because it will be far more fun if you discover it for yourself as you play the full game or even further into the demo. Let’s just say there is lots of excitement ahead.

The graphics are very colorful and although at times they seem washed out some scenes are very vivid. At first the graphics did seem a bit cartoonish but as I played the game I enjoyed the overall visual effect. I am a gamer who always plays with the sound on and I love the Middle Eastern style of music in the soundtrack. Your tools include an interactive map that you find very early in the game. Other tools include the mysterious box that Emma gives you ( will let you discover its use for yourself), and as in other games in the Whispered Secrets series you will have pictures or photos that help you identify hidden areas in some scenes.
The HOPs are varied in style and some are well-designed so they don’t seem like the same old scenes. Early in the game there is a HOP where we gather herbs and it took me a minute to figure out how to place some items. I found the scenes better than those in some recent games and very enjoyable. The puzzles seem to be very easy but maybe that is because I play so many HOPA games that I am familiar with how to solve them. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the puzzles as well because sometimes I prefer the easier puzzles to those that require a brain-drain. For those of you who aren’t as familiar with the puzzles this developer offers either a “Casual” or “Hard” setting on some puzzles. I wish more developers would offer this setting so that gamers who are not into the puzzles and generally skip them might be enticed to actually give them a try.
The CE version of the game includes 74 collectible crystals hidden in the scenes. There is a pop out box on the top right side of each scene that will indicate how many crystals are to be found in that particular scene. Yes, there are achievements to earn but I couldn’t figure out exactly how many there are available. Other extras include 10 – Wallpapers, a Workshop that has 10 concept art scenes, 8 Music Tracks, Replay of Movies, Replay of HOPs and Mini-games, a 61-page Strategy Guide, a Bonus Chapter and a Hidden Chapter. With seven chapters plus the two bonus chapters the game might be a bit longer.

What I love about this game is the overall visual appeal and the soundtrack. Those two things always increase my enjoyment of a game and the mystique of the Middle East is very appealing. The downside of the game for me is that we have yet another evil spirit that is eager to take over the body of someone and wreak havoc. Even though I am really very tired of this trend or theme in HOPA games the end result was more than I expected. So even though the theme is rather worn out, I still found the game very enjoyable. Since we all have different things we like in gaming I always recommend that you try the demo to see if this is a game you will enjoy. Happy gaming!

Professor Lomonosov has called you to an archaeological excavation site in Agora after he has made a groundbreaking discovery! An educational trip suddenly turned into a nightmare when a monster was unleashed from the Cube of Sins and kidnapped your friends. Can you save them, while learning more about this cursed artifact? Here we go again, another evil spirit unleashed from an age-old artifact in the form of a cube. From start to finish, Whispered Secrets: Forgotten Sins sticks to a formulaic plotline, one that is filled with forgettable characters and uninteresting side-stories. That being said, casual gamers will appreciate the refreshing locale of the game. The Arabian theme is interesting and certainly has not been overused in the HOPA world. Production wise, Whispered Secrets: Forgotten Sins is pretty much spot-on. The colorful visuals complement sophisticated artwork extremely well and there is just enough special effects to enhance the experience. However, we do feel that the visual style in this sequel is somewhat more juvenile that in the previous Whispered Secrets games. It is not to the point that takes away from the entertainment, but it surely made the environment slightly less immersive. Apart from a solid production and an uncommon theme, the game disappoints in other aspects. The gameplay in Whispered Secrets: Forgotten Sins is disappointingly standard. Neither the adventure part of the game nor the puzzles offer much challenge. Fortunately, the hidden object scenes do showcase some creativity, particularly the ones with the interactive progressive format. Further, the game includes one extra feature to go along with the gameplay; the Cube of Sins. This cube can be used to counter sand magic by prompting mini hidden object scenes – a fun addition, but nothing groundbreaking.Whispered Secrets: Forgotten Sins concludes at the end of the fourth hour once you have completed the four (4) stories in a one plot theme. The length of this edition was enough to spark my interest even though it wasn't my favorite. The Whispered Secrets "series" in general is worth checking out. I recommend all of them. Cheers!

At first I had a hard time getting into this game, but after the first 30 mins. or so, I started to enjoy it. There were plenty of things to keep you busy - all various types and a unique storyline to follow. I didnt expect the game to be so long which is a plus for me. Not bad for a cold Sunday afternoon.....

I bought the Collector's Edition of this game because the storyline took place somewhere besides a haunted house of fairytale kingdom, and because I needed a second game for a BOGO sale. I'll be honest with you, I haven't finished playing the game for a couple of reasons, mostly because the storyline kind of fizzled a bit after the demo and became stagnant. I also had problems with the cursor sticking constantly, which is an issue I didn't experience with the demo. Because the storyline piqued at the end of the demo, and came right back down, and the frustration of the uncontrollable cursor, I just didn't have the desire to finish the game. In all fairness, if not for the possessed cursor, I probably would have finished the game just for the unusual location alone, I'm sure the plot thickens back up as you progress and meet more bad guys. Here's a recap of my review so you can decide which version, if either are right for you:
Professor Lomonosov has invited Carol, one of his students, and her best friend, Emma Safer, an antiquity enthusiast and collector, to a famous archeological excavation in Agora. Recently Emma purchased a strange box, known as the Cube of Sins, an artifact capable of exorcising the sins of humanity. Since taking possession of the cube, Emma has experienced horrifying nightmares, dreams so intense, she has made arrangements to meet with a detective who specializes in supernatural phenomenon. Unfortunately, the situation goes from bad to worse, when the contents of the cube are unveiled!
Finally! A game that doesn't take place in a haunted house, and doesn't involve Princesses or glitter! I absolutely love the fresh storyline and locale, I think I even got a little sand in my shoes! Although I'm not a fan of unrealistic gadgets that find hidden symbols, I'm willing to overlook this feature, because of the storyline. Whispered Secrets also has a unique feature, of finding hidden caches with photographs you find during the adventure, by aligning the photo with the correct area of a scene. The Collector's Edition version has 74 hidden Crystals, usually two in each scene (there is a pull out tab that shows if you have located all crystals in that scene) I will admit, that some of these are very well hidden, nearly impossible to spot in some scenes. I enjoyed searching for them, but I don't think offering a bunch of crystals is worthy enough to constitute the CE price, unless you take advantage of a good CE sale, so at full price, this Standard Edition is probably the best option.
The Hidden Object Scenes are decent, I especially liked the Interactive Progressive Silhouetted Shape scenes. There are also Interactive List Finds, Multiples of herbs and spices, requiring you to place them into sections of a grinder and turning the handle to expose compartments on the other sides. One of the location scenes was repeated, and there are several smaller Zoom Zone HOP's. Whenever you use the Cube of Sins against sand magic areas, you will play a HOP/Mini Game where you are tasked with finding 7 hidden symbols in the scene, using a lens to reveal them. I've never been fond of the "mystic" magic lens feature, but it isn't used over abundantly.
The Mini Games range from easy to medium difficulty, nothing really challenging, but some games are quite lengthy. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Swap tiles to complete the key picture.
2) Connect the symbols in one continuous line without overlapping.
3) Use the lense to reveal 7 hidden symbols (repeated each time the Cube of Sins is used)
4) Click on matching pairs of feathers.
5) Swap carpet sections to restore the pattern.
6) Defeat the monkey in a game of Alquerque, by eliminating his pieces, by jumping your marbles over your opponents marbles. Read the blue book for rules of engagement. (available in Casual or Hard modes of difficulty)
7) Rearrange the mannequins apparel to match the photograph.
8) Rotate ornaments using directional arrows, rotating one ornament may affect others.
9) Arrange books according to color, on a shelf.
10) Select directional arrows to guide the camel from obstacles, while using the correct items on the right, a dagger, a shield and goggles.
11) Untangle the rope by dragging knots.

The woman has purchased the Cube Of Sins and wants you to tell her what it is. She has had nightmares ever since she bought it and needs answers.
Why didn't she take it to the dig, you ask? Let the experts on antiquities answer her questions? Why you, a newly arrived detective?
And yet I kept on through the entire demo.
Good stuff: You can turn down the music and ambient sounds. There are varied HOPs and familiar mini-games and puzzles. The art work is sometimes good.
Bad stuff: Pretty much the major problem is the disappointment in what starts out to be an almost decent story and quickly hits the skids. Despite being a detective, you will find that everyone wants you to cater to their needs. You will fetch candy, herbs, and tea, as well as being the only one who can save the victims of the Cube of Sins. Aren't you glad you came?
Most of the challenge lay in not bailing out of the demo. I stuck it out to the bitter end.
I can honestly say that this entry in the Whispered Secrets Series is an improvement on the last two tries. There is a better story and better characterizations.
If only being better made it good, the Devs would be lauded.
In this case, it makes the game relatively on the low average side, but I have to give them credit for trying - just not much credit.
Please try the demo for yourself. You may like to fetch, carry, and rescue!
