Catch of the last in France was Sleight of murder and fed up with ghosts, fairytales and gloomy stories, having played the four Dark Cities, I bought it.
And was very very nicely surprised on how the dev [EIPIX] have regenerated the concept [iPad instead of notebook, diary, interesting high tech HOP ..]
Well, I have played for 6 hours in casual and found the characters, the stories. This game reminds me a lot the Dawn of Prosperity.
The main positive point is this iPad which is very well built and the Brown leaves flying everywhere).
I have enjoyed a lot playing this clever and renewal game.
Shoutout Eipix and thank you.

Eipix announces this is the last game in the Dead Reckoning series and I am somewhat sad to see it go. With the exception of a couple of the games in this series, it has been better than average throughout. I don't think this particular offering is a 5 star game but still ranks close at 4 stars for me. Things which bring down the rating from 5 stars for me are: the ridiculous beginning hang gliding down to the college campus (not a very dignified entrance for someone who is supposed to be receiving a literary award, unless the award is for comedic writing) and the irritating missing zipper pull (yawn) among other overdone things.
I was glad there were no ghosts and ghouls or evil villains for a change. The plot was well done and a refreshing departure from fantasy love stories and haunted houses. This is a grown up murder mystery and your job is to eliminate suspects and find the real murderer.
Mini games were not challenging. Connect the dots (!?), swap trophies, rotate the puzzle to get the ball into the hole. The only interesting game was the pinball game.
Eipix consistently offers good graphics and voice acting and this game is no exception. One person's voice did kinda grate on me a bit however.
Try the demo and see what you think. I don't think you will be disappointed as this game is worth adding to your collection. There may be draw backs but it is better than the average game we have had lately Show less

Dead Reckoning: Lethal Knowledge brings a fresh change of theme to the HOPA genre. It's sad that this is the last installment of this excellent detective series. The storyline involves a pure, juicy, realistic murder mystery; no fairies, no ghosts, no gothic horror. The pace and the technique in which the storyline unravels are also impressive. I was completely drawn to the storyline right from the opening sequence and never felt bored throughout the duration of the game. Eipix did an amazing job bringing the hi-tech university to life. The visuals are clean and modern and the soundtracks are appropriately suspenseful. Also, shout out to the production team for crafting such wonderful animations and special effects – this proves to us that Eipix would actually excel in the Sci-Fi genre if they want to try that out in the future with a similar series. HOPA fanatics will most likely find Dead Reckoning: Lethal Knowledge quite easy and predictable in this edition. While the gameplay features many cool, hi-tech elements, most of the times the game feels a little formulaic. The advanced touchscreen tablet feature serves as a nice addition, and a modern device. As for the puzzles, they are well-integrated into the storyline and offer moderate difficulty. My favorite aspect of the gameplay must be the hidden object scenes. These scenes are all expertly-designed with multiple layers and interesting interactions. I thought the whole game was extremely intriguing; it was if the four-hour gameplay felt more like two hours. The bonus chapter was no less entertaining, and took another 50 minutes. As usual I played the Collector’s Edition, which is packed with extras; a strategy guide, wallpapers, concept art, videos, soundtracks, a souvenir room, bubble shooter games, replayable hidden object scenes, replayable puzzles, achievements, collectibles, and morphing objects. I gave 4 stars because this edition was intriguing enough as well as the entire series combined. I recommend all the Dead Reckoning Series. Cheers!

In this series:
•Dead Reckoning: Silvermoon Isle
•Dead Reckoning: Brassfield Manor
•Dead Reckoning: The Crescent Case
•Dead Reckoning: Broadbeach Cove
•Dead Reckoning: Snowbird's Creek
•Dead Reckoning: Sleight of Murder

Only, surprisingly enough, we have to hang glide down? The student escort states it's "tradition" and that all new students/etc. have to do it... yeah, no thank you. But you do hang glide down with him and reach the prestigious school. With how advanced it is, you'd think they'd be expecting us. But we arrive in time for a mystery.
I'll admit that I jumped a time or two because I wasn't expecting something to happen. And the story takes an interesting twist.
The puzzles aren't too difficult, and some may say that they're easy. The story itself takes place at a university, so you get to meet and speak with students and faculty. Parts of the mystery were easy to piece together, and then they try to throw out one or two "surprises".
Overall, it was a fun game. If you're a fan of the series, like me, or just a mystery fan, you'll enjoy the game. Show less

The visuals in the game are awesome! Love playing in this century! Although I have an appreciation for "period piece" games, I'm sooooo craving more modern representation and this one nails it!
The game play itself was enjoyable, though not overly challenging. I particularly enjoyed the plot "twists" and "pleasurable" environment - no guts and gore!

I spent a few hours yesterday playing this game, there are 6 chapters and a bonus chapter, so the quantity of the game is good, but the quality of entertainment could have been better. I was truly expecting this "whodunit" mystery to take a few twists and turns from chapter to chapter, but it simply drove the story home. By this I mean that instead of taking several chapters to set up the plot by making me think , oh he did it, well maybe she did it, making me unsure who did it while suspecting nearly everyone, as you'd expect from a whodunit murder plot. Because that wasn't really the case, chapters 5 and 6 got a bit boring at times, because nothing new was introduced to thicken the plot, to keep me constantly guessing, therefore, it could have been wrapped up by chapter 4 or 5! Other than that, the game is good, but could have been epic. Here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either, is right for you:
The Discipulus University should consider changing the name to Murder College, because the faculty is dropping off like flies lately! Miss Douglas, the author of the Dead Reckoning novels, has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for her literary contributions. The ceremony will have to be postponed, however, because someone has been murdered, again! Look on the bright side, it's great material for her next novel!
I've always wondered if devs actually read the feedback we fishies give on their games, and other games as well. I think they must, because it looks to me like Eipix has tried to duplicate the font and style of one of my favorite devs (not sure I'm allowed to mention which rival it is) I don't remember this particular style being used by Eipix before. If you play a lot of HOPA games, I'm sure you'll recognize the familiar font used, and even the same modern look of the information tabs, and the style of all the extras, even the look of the icon that pops up when you select the hint to allow you to travel quickly to that scene. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's one of the things I love about the other dev, the clean sharp lines, crisp graphics, and the use of modern technology! In my opinion, Eipix has evolved (a teeny tiny bit)! They were able to take a dated series (I reckon I should say dead series) and modernize it to be relevant with just a few tweaks. NO, this isn't a cookie cutter version, take notice, because I for one, want these guys to know that we grew weary of the same thing over and over in every game series they create. I want them to know that we "see" the change, even though they are are just small changes, and appreciate their effort! Otherwise they will remain in their comfort zone, and never attempt anything new, baby steps, one step at a time.
I don't have a gimmicky gadget that allows me to see glowing orbs or hidden symbols, I have a modern Tablet to use, YEAH! Just proof that once again Eipix is evolving, when is the last time you pulled out a pad of paper and a pencil to write down something important when you are on the go? Everyone I know uses a smartphone or tablet. Need a flashlight or a magnifying glass? Need to take a picture or reference information? The first thing you reach for is your cell phone or tablet, and nobody leaves home without one! Because this is a college of cutting edge technology, important apps are automatically downloaded to your tablet while on the campus grounds (ok, that's a bit intrusive) In the Collector's Edition version, there are 37 Mortar Boards (black academic caps) to find, one in each scene, (but because they have a red tassel, they tend to be easily spotted,) the usual achievements and extras, Morphing Objects within the HOP's, and eventually 12 Souvenir's to collect.
The Hidden Object Scenes are modern with crisp graphics. Again, some have a familiar flare, particularly in the computer screen HOP where a computer generated voice tells a story one sentence at a time, and you must find the computer generated sketches representing the Keywords in the sentences. There are also Spot the Difference HOP's with small puzzles to solve, and of course the Dead Reckoning famous HOP's where you find clues and signs, indicating whether or not suspects are being truthful in their statements. In the CE version, there is a Morphing Object available in most of the HOP's, and some have an alternate Bubble Shooting game to play.
The Mini Games are decent, but could use a little modernization as well. Most of the games are doable on the first attempt, but I personally don't mind easy puzzles, or difficult puzzles for that matter as long as they are fun to solve. Most of these games are fun throughout it's entirety, but nothing really new. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Create a path that avoids strong wind currents, by rotating tiles in a "pipes" style game. (on the tablet)
2) Connect the dots to form the correct pattern that matches the clue shown.
3) Turn all of the lights green by selecting the flags in the correct order. (on the tablet)
4) Drag the key across all of the lock symbols, filled squares can't be crossed over, empty squares can only be passed through once. (repeat on second level)
5) Swap pool balls to match the clue shown.
6) Select angles of bumpers on a pinball machine to direct the ball correctly.
7) Swap trophies correctly according to clue.

Congratulations Ms. Douglas you have been selected by Discipulus College to receive their Lifetime Achievement Award for Literature. After your soaring arrival on campus, things heat up with a murder since this is a Dead Reckoning game. As far as games in this series go, this is actually a very good one and a bit better than some others; however, I did have a lot of up and down moments with the game – going back and forth between whether I liked or did not like the game. At times I loved the game and at others I found it very frustrating and those moments were mostly related to the HOPS, which are what I look forward to the most in a HOPA game.
As far as I’m concerned the best part of the game is the storyline that is full of twists and “I didn’t see that coming” moments. This is probably one of the best storylines in the Dead Reckoning series so kudos to the developer.
The HOP scenes are very creative but, IMHO, they are poorly designed. I struggled with most of them because the items were too itsy-bitsy to easily spot or in the case of the really interactive scenes, the items were so well hidden there was no clear way to start the ball rolling. I found that I hated the HOPS in the game and that is saying a lot. It is one thing to make a game more difficult but when you do it at the expense of the HOPS then it takes all of the fun out of the game.
So if I hated the HOPS it didn’t leave much aside from the puzzles and the storyline to add to my gaming enjoyment. Well, I guess for me the storyline is what really carried the game because the puzzles were confusing and had very poor instructions so I couldn’t really understand what needed to be done to solve them. Yes, there were maybe one or two terrific puzzles that I could actually understand and figure out but the rest certainly left a lot to be desired. Maybe those gamers who are a lot smarter than me will be able to understand how to solve some of the puzzles because I was at a loss and ended up using the skip button.
I managed to make my way through the entire game with the help of my trusty hint button and I fully intend to replay it at a later date to see if I have the same reaction now that I understand some of those mysterious instructions. So you might ask why I am giving this game a passing grade, and the truth is my evaluation of the game’s merit is based almost solely on the storyline. Yes, there were some HOPS that were better than others and at least passable but nothing on the scale of the excellent HOPS created by this developer in years past. I was also able to solve some of the puzzles and I did consider those to be fun and even require some thought to solve. In the end, because I think this developer is selling out to those who want difficult games at the expense of those who prefer entertainment value, I am only giving the game 3 stars. Had the game not been so tedious and difficult in the HOPS and puzzles, I would have given it a much higher rating. As always, I recommend that you try the demo to see if this will be a game you will enjoy because Dead Reckoning Lethal Knowledge might be just right for you. Happy gaming! Show less

I read that this was going to be the last in this series and since I have the rest of the them, I wanted to get it so I did. To say it was as good as the previous games would not be true. Perhaps it is time to retire it. Not horrible, but not that much fun either. The major plus for this game, no ghosts, witches or goblins. That has got to be a plus in about everybody's book.
Graphics were well done.Colors were excellent and realistic. Everything thing was modern day including the pad used for collecting information and holding the map and applications. I particularly liked the voice overs. They were excellent and a tremendous asset to the game. Effects and music went along with the action in the scene.
I had a devil of a time with understanding the mini games. They aren't something I like anyway, but I simply could not figure out how to play many of them. Just thankful for the custom setting and waited for the 15 seconds to pass so I could hit skip. There seemed to be a lot of repeated minis. I would do something and then another screen would pop up with the same puzzle on it just more advanced. Hidden objects were varied, but nothing we haven't seen before. They were relatively simple, but I did have to use the hint a couple times.
The map was extremely useful. It showed locations where things could be done and would transport. A few times it didn't show anyplace with something to do and I hit the hint and it would take me to a location on the map where sure enough when I checked the map again there would be something to do.
Others will go into detail about the story itself, so I'll just say it was really good. I was hooked on it from the beginning and with the twists that came along the ending was rather a surprise. I just keep wondering what happened to Oliver. Maybe I can pay more attention when I play it again.
All in all this is a good game and I'm not sorry I made the purchase. If indeed it is the end of the series, I hate to see it go, but if this is the direction it was heading, better to kill it off now.
Give the demo a shot. I think if you like a good old fashion murder mystery, you will enjoy this game. Have fun. Show less

I have several of the Dead Reckoning series of games and, while Lethal Knowledge is far from being one of the best, this game is not quite as bad as some other reviewers have written.
The story line has been described by others, so I will not duplicate their good efforts.

I have several of the Dead Reckoning series of games and, while Lethal Knowledge is far from being one of the best, this game is not quite as bad as some other reviewers have written.
The story line has been described by others, so I will not duplicate their good efforts.

Yes, the game play is a little slow —well, for my liking, anyway— but the action is logical and it is not too difficult to figure out your next move. Should you want to jump from here to there, the map will be a good tool for you.
The HO sequences and mini-games, with one or two minor exceptions, were no different than any seen in other Eipix products. This, to me, was quite disappointing, but if indeed this is the last game in the series then, obviously, Eipix didn’t see any reason to put any more effort into this game than was absolutely necessary.
I probably won’t buy this game, and my recommendation is a qualified one, but you should try the demo and decide for yourself. Show less
