I have played every Surface game and for me this is one of the best. The adventure takes you into dreams or nightmares of the individuals in the town. The mini-puzzles are challenging and the hidden objects vary. All your tools are used in a logical manner.

Very challenging game and very hard tasks. Sometimes you just don't know what to do. But I played on hardcore mode without using hints and skip buttons. I really like to understand the puzzles and enjoy in the game :-). I don't like rushing to end the game. Where is fun in that :-D?? It takes more time playing the game, but that is how I like it :-).

Like my title said, it's really the same game, just different characters and storyline in "The noise she couldn't make". When I played this game, I have feeling like I playing that other game. Even some characters was very similar. That bother me a little because I couldn't enjoy in other game like it's not new gaming experience, but I love both titles :-). That's why fun factor is so low here.
I liked the end when they gone in happier future, but then those doctors/scientists showed and ruined end for me. So I just ignored them and that end and take that happier one :-D! Show less

An excellent game with slightly different from the normal hidden object scenes as well as the mini-games. There was lots of imagination used for this game. I highly recommend it.

The graphics are very good even though a bit dusty and filthy. I am so very sick of insect-ridden, nasty, filthy graphics, which is my biggest complaint about some mystery or horror lite games. Why can’t we have a horror game where things are tidy and neat? Guess those two things don’t go hand in hand in HOPA Land – huh?

The graphics are very good even though a bit dusty and filthy. I am so very sick of insect-ridden, nasty, filthy graphics, which is my biggest complaint about some mystery or horror lite games. Why can’t we have a horror game where things are tidy and neat? Guess those two things don’t go hand in hand in HOPA Land – huh?
The HOPS are just about what we come to expect in all these games – nothing more and nothing less. When you have played as many HOPA games as I have in the past 14 years then there really isn’t much that is new out there. That being said, I still enjoy the genre and am a huge HOPA lover. The same thing goes for the mini-games or puzzles. The ones in Project Dawn are a bit easy but that is okay with me. I actually like some of the puzzles from this developer and they are not all toggle this or spin that to reach the end. I like that there are puzzles where one actually has to think about what to do in order to solve most of the puzzles.
If you love the CE version of a game this one is fairly typical of other games in the Surface series. Yes, those collectible flowers are back and you will find them hidden in each scene. There are also morphing statuettes to be found in some scenes BUT I really think that this developer rather skirted their way around the extra content by including a rather short list of items. Yes, all of the standard fluff is there but when there are really only 12 collectible statuettes to find and not that many flowers to find (if the strategy guide is to be trusted), then it makes for a rather less than excellent CE quality game. The Strategy Guide only includes about 43 pages with 3 pages listing the collectibles so it is probably a very short game as well. Maybe if the developers would include better CE packages and longer games, the gamers would be willing to pay more for their games – just sayin’. Of course the reverse is true and if we would pay more for the games, maybe the devs might work harder to create more.
With a short game and a storyline that seems to steal its gameplay from the Redemption Cemetery playbook with freeing guilt-ridden souls, I don’t think this is one of the best games in the Surface series. Of course, Surface has not been a favorite series of mine, but still I expected a bit more from this developer. The game isn’t a bad game but it simply can’t compare to earlier games as far as I am concerned. Newer gamers will most likely love the game because it still is terrific as far as the game itself. I am simply disappointed in the length of the game and the lack of collectibles from a top-tier developer. I am finding that some of the lesser known developers are working a lot harder and creating games that are far superior to the ones we are recently being offered by this developer (and a few others) who seem to be “resting on their laurels”. As always, please try the demo because Surface Project Dawn might just be perfect for you. Happy gaming! Show less

I loved this game, and I loved the ending, but I'm a fan of the CE bling, especially finding those famous Surface Flowers, if you can, opt for the CE, but either version is a winner in my book! It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a game this much from beginning to end! I especially loved the ending, I really didn't see that one coming, and it seems to have left an opening for a sequel perhaps? I haven't finished the Bonus Chapter, but so far it seems like a decent game from Detective Riley's perspective. When I first played the CE demo, I was disappointed with the fact that the story line sidelined to a nightmare realm, but most of the game takes place within the town, and you only visit the nightmares of a few people, to help them move on. I enjoyed the HOP's, especially the one where I had to find matching swatches of material. My favorite Mini Game was navigating through a maze finding items and solving puzzles to get me through it, I actually had to use my noggin for it! I highly recommend this game, here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either, is right for you:
The sun is setting, and Jennifer Palmer needs to find a place to stop before nightfall. What Jennifer witnesses next, proves she might be more exhausted than she thought, animals by the dozens are evacuating the nearby town! Seconds later, a crow fly's into the windshield of her motor home which, causes her to veer off course and hit a large tree. Jennifer was knocked unconscious, she has no idea how long she was out, but it doesn't take long for her to realize that her daughter Maya is missing! Fortunately, Gray Falls is just up ahead, unfortunately, the town is behind a large locked gate! It soon becomes abundantly clear that Gray Falls has been evacuated since 1991! There's something weird going on here, and all roads seem to lead to the Research Institute, and the unethical experiments they conducted on it's citizens, called Project Dawn. Now Jennifer wonders, is the gate there to keep people from getting in, or is it there to keep people from getting out!
Project Dawn has clawed its way to the Surface, and it's abundantly clear that Elephant games is rising to the top of the HOPA pile! I knew this was going to be a fantastic game the moment the gates opened to reveal a post apocalyptic abandoned town. The details and graphics are exactly what you'd expect in a town that was quickly abandoned nearly 30 years ago. I was a tad bit disappointed when the game took a drastic turn, and I entered the "nightmare" world. I would rather have stayed right where I was, searching for Maya in an abandoned town, because the atmosphere is so cool, and there are too many games with a dreamscape theme. The good news is that you bounce back and forth, so I can live with that.
The Collector's Edition version has 12 Morphing Collectible Character figurines to collect, which tells you the background story of who they are, but it also fills in the gaps that you otherwise wouldn't have known about. Each Scene also has the famous Surface Flowers to collect, some of which are located within zoom zones on various notes you come across, and some of them are very well hidden.
The Hidden Object Scenes are fantastic!, these devs have been listening! The objects to find aren't just laying on top of junk piles, they are cleverly blended within other items, just like the good old days. There are Listed item Finds, Silhouetted Shape finds, Multiple Symbol finds (clever mannequin scene) and scenes where you place an item into the scene logically, followed by finding a listed item, and back to replacing an item as it alternates between finding and replacing items. Some of the HOP's have a small Mini Game puzzle to solve.
The Mini Games are just as fantastic. Everyone of the Mini Games, even after the demo, are doable, and have just the right amount of difficulty to make them fun, but not frustrating.
Below are brief descriptions of some of the mini games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Drag puzzle pieces and rotate to assemble a picture.
2) Move cars into their matching colored slots using the empty slot to swap cars along the track.
3) Move the tokens to match the clue shown by selecting and rotating knobs surrounding them.
4) Select groups of two or more identical items to remove all items from the board, this is a 3 board progressive game.
5) Select a bottom tile that relates to the image displayed on the top board, repeat this process until all tiles are removed.
6) Select matching pairs of keys.
7) Rotate pipe sections to make a path from top to bottom of all energy buttons.
8) Select the gears to rotate the path sections.
9) Use the knobs to create a continuous radio wave.
10) Arrange the figures so their colors match the color s of the arrows in each column and row.
11) Guess the correct animal shape a pair of hands would make as a shadow.
12) Close the eyes on the rings in the correct order according to a nearby clue.
13) Find matching pairs of items by flipping over two buttons at a time, then change the color of eye under each icon according to the clue.

Elephant games releases an awesome sci-fi mystery in their latest installment "Project Dawn". What begins with the abduction of your daughter Maya after Jennifer Palmer wrecks her RV on the way home soon turns into an adventure you will never forget. Why does the Military have the entire town of Gray Falls on lock-down? Who is this mysterious Darren Soul? This is so obscure and wonderful, I can't describe it any better than other rave reviews. This Elephant game was challenging for me but you have to play this to experience it. I don't know how in the world they conceived this one! It's a mind melter for sure. When you learn of the horrific experiments that are taking place at the Gray Falls Research Center you're transported into the nightmares of everyone involved with the project. Surface 11: Project Dawn is a fabulous entry into the long-standing Surface franchise. The game is as close to complete as it gets. Fans will be thrilled, and newcomers entertained. This is a hidden object game everyone should play. While it is always hard to innovate the standard HOG formula, Surface 11 does a good job of keeping things interesting. The game is refreshingly non-linear, keeping every environment relevant throughout the storyline, and forcing you to think on your toes. You will need to retrace your steps regularly, and use your brain. No click-mashing here. The mini-games are also spot on. While many of them are simple remakes of the standard puzzles you find in other hidden object games. This edition manages to keep things fresh and puts interesting twists on all of them. Once again, these mini-games will force you to think on your toes, instead of making you feel like you have played them in a hundred HOGs before. Fans and newcomers to the Surface series will have a hard time turning the game off. The music is invigorating, the gameplay is challenging, and the visuals hit the mark. I remain a fan of all the Surface Series. Cheers!
