I haven't bought any in this series before. I liked the trial so I bought it. I was very impressed with the accuracy of the Egyptian items. They had the proper wordage for the tools, clothes and animals. They did their research. We all know that some makers haven't even cared enough to proof read or fact check. So I found this a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed this game.
It's not perfect but they put in some effort. Most mini-games were the one's I like to play which is relaxed. I found a puzzle that had no hint or skip. It took me a little bit, but I managed it. I'd like for the text to be on screen longer so I could read all of it. I would also like to have a paper recipe or instruction bought up bigger so I can make it out.
The hops graphic are on a larger scale that is easy on the eyes. I would call these lovely. Meaning I really loved the illustration. They have some morphing items. They are things already on your get list. I've seen one to three in a hop. They didn't list them in the guide. Which they should. To use the guide you have to go to the menu. You don't stop your game. It's like using the menu for the options.
I did like collecting 33 Stars and 4 Diamonds. They have a indicator on the tool bar. It's a Scarab Amulet that glows until you have all the collectibles found in the scene. I didn't miss any but I kept checking to see if I could retrieve a missing star and I don't think you can. You finish the collecting before the bonus chapter.
The bonus chapter starts three days before the main game. It has Akiiki in it.
The game has a few places that has the main person or bird clear and the background blurred. I think it's to have you play attention to that person or bird. Falcon in bonus. I would of preferred for every thing to be clear.
It has 4 Chapters. The guide is 59 pages. I don't know how many pages is good, so I opened another game with 6 chapters. The game starts with Dead R and it had 33 pages. Go figure. The data total for this CE is 669.1mb. I'd call that average length.
I counted 17 hops in the main game and 5 in the bonus. That's 22 hops. Now a days, I think thats plentiful. I would recommend this game for hops lovers and not for puzzle lovers who need a challenge to be happy
The bonus content has replays of 8 hops, 6 mini-games, 5 music tracks and 6 cut scenes. 12 wallpapers and 12 concept art. Show less
I recommend this game!

4 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 59 Pages
OVERVIEW: Grab your camera and protective amulet as you, Lila, along with your Aunt Dawn travel back in time to Ancient Egypt. You are off to fight an ancient evil, the god Seth! An ancient artifact, the Gauntlet of Horus, has been discovered, one which can defeat the darkness and evil controlled by this Lord of Evil. When your aunt is kidnapped by a demon, you must activate a portal and go back in time to Ancient Egypt to save the world from darkness. You, as the “Bearer of Light” are the only one who can save mankind from the evil machinations of Seth and his demons.
This is another fantastic game by Brave Giant. I love this series and have waited for BFG to offer this game on their site. This is an easy-breezy game in which you can gently flow down the Nile without shedding any crocodile tears battling difficult puzzles. This is a fun game which should appeal to those who love archaeology, adventure games, or the thought of time travel to ancient Egypt. The graphics are beautiful and remind me of the old Egyptian mummy movies from Hammer Films. The story is a wonderful action-packed time travel adventure into the distant past. The game has an excellent pace with plenty of activities to keep the player busy. This game was an automatic purchase for me! This is beautifully illustrated fun-filled game to wile away the hours.
MECHANICS: You can replay some of the puzzles and HOP scenes. There are twelve (12) wallpapers and twelve (12) concept art scenes. You collect four (4) diamonds and thirty-three (33) stars. I found them easy to locate. There are also morphing objects within the HOP scenes. There are twenty-two achievements to earn as well. The Gauntlet of Horus is your helper throughout the game. You can play a Matching game in lieu of the HOP scenes.
HOP SCENES: I feel the HOP scenes are better designed than the puzzles. The scenes within the demo are lists of items and silhouette. One of the silhouette in the demo is a FROG. All are interactive and beautifully illustrated. They are thematic and truly reflect the flavor of Ancient Egypt. The HOP scenes have morphing objects within them.
PUZZLES: No crocodiles hiding here! However, you do learn to play the flute while lulling a cobra to leave the scene! Bye- bye! Snake-eyes! The puzzles are easy. I found none which were even slightly difficult. They are thematic as well. They include a jigsaw puzzle placing pieces back into a cartouche. There are two storybook puzzles (which I feel are more like HOP scenes than puzzles) in which you locate and interact with items listed in BOLD letters. Some of the activities I considered puzzles; however, they are not designated as such by the developer. I included them below as puzzles, however.
SOCK IT TO THE DEMONS! You play a puzzle every time you need to fight off demons within this game. It is a variation of a bullseye puzzle. You follow a target and when it turns blue, you can click away demolishing those evildoers!
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE FROM THE DEMO
HOP SCENES: You have the option to play a Matching game in lieu of the scene.
(A) Silhouette. Search for items and replace them back within the scene. (B) Locate 12 pebbles. (C) List of items. (D) Silhouette items. (E) Silhouette puzzle - FROG (F) List of items on a hieroglyphic slab.
PUZZLES: They are all easy.
A. * Demon Fighting Puzzle. Every time you need to fight demons, use the gauntlet. Bullseye puzzle. Take out the demons by following a target. When it turns blue, click on it to fight the demons.
B. Jigsaw puzzle. Place fragments of a cartouche into their proper location. (Within the inventory)
C. Storybook. Locate items listed in BOLD letters by interacting with the scene. (More of a HOP scene than a puzzle)
D. Sequence puzzle. Lull an angry cobra by playing a flute according to a given code.
E. Dialogue puzzle. Choose the correct questions to ask from a series of possible questions.
F. Slider puzzle. Slide tokens with fire symbols on them so they are in sequence.
G. Storybook puzzle. Interact with the scene locating items in BOLD letters.

I love the Demon Hunter series, a paranormal themed game centered around Dawn, the last of her kind, a Demon Hunter! Her father was killed by an Archdemon named Ragner, and then the man who raised her, Professor Ashmore was killed. I bought this game sight unseen, because the 3 previous games were really good. After playing the demo, I was devastated, because it just doesn't seem like a Demon Hunter game. Other than the main character being Dawn, it's nothing like it's dark and creepy predecessors.
If this had been an introductory game to a new series, I may have felt differently about Riddles of Light, if it would've been an Egyptian themed game series, it could've been a really good series theme, and they really should've stuck with the dark and dreary Demon Hunter plot.
Because this game centers around the Egyption gods, Horus and Seth, you will soon become the proud owner of the infamous Gauntlet of Horus. The Gauntlet is used as a weapon to defeat the evil spirits and eventually allows you to talk with the dead in the demo, and of course this usually entails having to solve a puzzle, hidden object scene or mini game of some sort, whenever the Gauntlet begins to glow.
The story itself has several variations, the most popular version is that Horus was the son of Isis and Osiris, having a mans body and a falcons head. Horus is associated with war, light, and the sun, as well as being a patron of young men. After the death of Osiris, Isis hid her son on an island to protect him from his Uncle Set. Once he reached adulthood, Horus avenged his father's death by battling his Uncle Set (not Seth) every day for eternity, to ensure the safety of the world. In this game, Horus has waged an eternal war against Seth, the god of darkness, and Horus has a Gauntlet constructed by 5 different gods, but again, depending on the version of mythology, the magical armour was more than likely a Falcon's Claw.
The Hidden Object Scenes are varied with Interactive List finds, Multiples of the same item finds, Keywords in sentence finds, Fragment finds, and one of my personal favorites, Interactive, Progressive Silhouetted Shape finds where you find the first item that matches the Silhouetted Shape, and then use that item back in the scene logically, which exposes the next item and so forth. Brave Giant Games has a feature in most of their HOP's that I absolutely love, there's always one object on the list that is a Morphing Object, that must be in the correct form, according to the list, before it's accepted. I know I always complain about morphs only offered within the HOP's, and I do prefer them to be offered in each location of the main game, but the reason I hate morphs that are only offered within the HOP's is because they are a separate entity. If you don't remember to look for the morph, you're out of luck because there's no way to go back to look for them. In this game, like most BG games, the morphing item is also a listed item, so you can't forget to look for the morph.
The Mini Games are subpar and too scarce for my personal tastes. Some of the mini games are actually forms of Hidden Object Games such as Keywords in Sentence finds, which make the actual mini game tally even shorter. To narrow the category down even further still, some of the tasks within zoom zones appear to be a mini game, but they don't give you any game descriptions, so I soon realized that these were tasks not puzzles, and they don't require figuring out anything because they are solved by just interacting with items. Below is a very brief list of brief descriptions of some of the Mini Games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Place puzzle fragments into the highlighted spaces correctly, select the piece and then click on the fragment to rotate the piece.
2) Find pairs of images that represent the Keywords on sentences. (repeated throughout the game)
3) Use the clue sheet to convert a 4 digit code into symbols.
4) Gauntlet mini game requiring you to click when the target zone turns blue, repeat 3 x's. (Repeated each time the Gauntlet is used for this particular feature, Keywords in Sentence finds games when using the Gauntlet to speak with the dead)
5) Use the reference clue to convert symbols to musical notes.
6) Use the clues shown to correctly place stone tablet equations.
7) Slide tokens to arrange the flames in a progressive order.
8) Select levers to adjust the levels of acid in each vat to access the items inside the empty tanks.
This Collector's Edition version has 12 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, re-playable Movie Cutscenes, Mini Games and Hidden Object games, 22 Achievements to Earn, 33 Collectible Stars, 4 Collectible Diamonds, a Built In Strategy Guide (which can only be accessed by clicking on the menu icon) and a Bonus Chapter.

Of course with the series name being Demon Hunters I would expect nothing less than some sort of evil demon as the subject of the game.
The game is really a mixed bag as far as graphics with some being exceptionally good and others being downright poor in quality. I didn’t care for the artistic style of the game that uses live characters along with their computer generated depictions. The voiceovers are not always lip-synced and I hate seeing a character stand and stare with no lip movement when they are speaking. At least in the demo version of the game, the Strategy Guide must be accessed by selecting the menu button. Since I haven’t purchased the game I am not sure if that will change in the full version of the game. I personally do not think the game is worth the full CE price so will wait until there is a great sale before purchasing the game. I also dislike the fact that unless I purchase the game I am unable to access the collectibles in the guide.
The developer did make an effort with the HOPS by making them interactive and a bit creative but with the grainy quality of the scenes the items are difficult to find. I dislike it when a developer uses brighter rays of light in one area of a scene and that makes items difficult to spot as well. Thankfully there is a matching game that can be played if you don’t want to search for items in the HOP. I did not understand exactly what I was supposed to do to solve several of the puzzles. I would prefer having more clear-cut instructions. One puzzle early in the game has a code to use and it took me a minute or two before I realized what I should do. Your tools include an interactive map and the Gauntlet of Horus.
The CE version of the game includes Morphing Objects in the HOPS, Collectible Stars and Diamonds, Achievements to earn, Wallpapers, Concept Art, Bonus Chapter, and Strategy Guide. The developer has also provided the ability to replay some HOPS and Puzzles.
Although the game does get more interesting as we approach the end of the demo, my disappointment with the graphics and the HOPS make it unlikely that I will purchase the game. Even though I am not over-the-moon thrilled by the game, it might be a perfect game for you. Please try the demo to see what you think. Happy gaming! Show less
