My actual final rating for this game would be: 3.8 of 5*

I play on custom mode at an average pace and like to figure things out on my own.

You save 3 souls in this game, and I still love that premise. This is my favorite series by this DEV.
I noticed there are a lot of low reviews for this game because not much has changed since every other game in this series. I agree with a lot of those statements. This was definitely not the best RC in the series but I still enjoyed it to the end.
The first 3 games in this series are my favorites, especially RC3 Grave Testimony. The earlier RC games had a diary that held the different storylines and that was missed.
Funny Happenings:
In chapter 3 one of the characters really needs your help. Instead, I walk past another character, a coach, who just stands in my way but I don’t tell him of the soul in peril. I played 2 HOS, lit a fire, made glue to fix a boat, then patched the boat to get to the guy. That poor boob bobbed in the water for a long time. Amazing he was still alive! LOL
The biggest downside for me was the repetitive game effect sound of a harp flourish EVERY time you pick something up. That seems to be an irritant for me in a lot of games if there isn’t a way to adjust game sounds in the options menu.
I also wish there was a way to tweak the “rain effects” over a scene, in the options menu, because it makes it hard to see the scene clearly. Thankfully it only rained in a couple of scenes in this game. I've noticed after years of playing these games that an annoying repetitive sound (that can't be changed), is enough for me to stop playing an entire game series altogether in some cases.
I happen to love games with portals because I like when the time of day changes from the "basic color theme" throughout which I find is monotonous for game play in many games. This game does have the different colors, day changes and multiple storylines which I crave in a game.
The demo is not the best part of this game as I thought the base storyline was very weak. I wish this developer would try something new such as present day characters and time periods.
If you like games with portals and saving people in different chapters, try these here at BFG that I also liked:
1. Reincarnation series (I loved all 3)
2. House of 1000 door series
3. Sable Maze: Nightmare Shadows CE
4. Whispered Secrets: Everburning Candle CE
5. Mysteries of the mind: Coma CE
I purchased the CE for this title because it offers 8 screensavers. I liked the bonus chapter too, if you are considering that version over this.
Since we all have different opinions of these games, I just highly suggest you play the demo and see if it's your thing. Just keep in mind the demo was the weakest portion of this game for me, believe it or not. Show less
I recommend this game!

Okay, yes you have to save three souls again, but the game play is okay -- there are varies types of hidden objects and some good mini-puzzles. I have played all these games and this might not be the "best" one. However, the graphics are good and the game flows forward without too much back and forth. As always try it -- you might like it.
I recommend this game!

Or what I was hoping for. I really like this series, but this one was lukewarm. It was very, very short for one thing. And really easy. I may be in the minority here, but I like puzzles as much as HOPs, (maybe even more), and these were too easy and not many of them. Not a bad game, but one for beginners really.
I recommend this game!

I very much like the Redemption Cemetery line of games but out of all I've played, I live this one the least.

Is it BFG or is it the lack of creativity with a developer that keeps bringing us this assembly line of games over and over and over? Honestly if this continues to be what I have to look forward to with games from the same handful of BFG developers, then it is a bleak gaming outlook indeed.
There is nothing remotely interesting in "The Cursed Mark" that would entice me to even complete the demo of the game. It was boring from the get-go with the same storyline, the same tasks, and the same gameplay. HOPA games are now littered with mini-HOP scenes since they probably require less work to create and serve to act as game fillers so that a game with three chapters might seem much longer. IMHO anytime I see an in-game strategy guide that shows a game has only 3 chapters, then I am not going to spend my hard earned dollars to purchase the game - even if it is on sale.
Those of you who haven't been around long enough to play the previous thirteen games in the series might possibly enjoy this game. This developer creates some of the most realistic characters in gameland and their artwork is probably enough to entice you to having a go at Redemption Cemetery The Cursed Mark. As for me, I've been there/done that over and over and over again so this one is definitely a pass for me. As always, please try the demo to see if you will enjoy The Cursed Mark. Happy Gaming!

This is the section that I usually include a plot synopsis. If I do, it will be the same synopsis as the last 12 Redemption Cemetery games. These developers have had a long successful Redemption Cemetery series run, but it's clearly time to lay this baby to rest in a shallow grave until the end of time. In the beginning, I was a fan like everyone else, but there's no point in continuing to "Redeem" 3 souls in every game if you can't imagine a new redemption scenario or plot Amax, there just isn't. The wheel's still spinning here folks, but the hamster's been dead since 2013's Bitter Frost! Let the hamster RIP, let Redemption Cemetery RIP.
This is the section where I add my personal opinion about the game, what I liked and didn't. I liked the detailed creepy graphics. I didn't like everything else with the exception of the detailed creepy graphics. That about sums it all up!
The Hidden Object Scenes are literally everywhere, just about every single zoom zone requires you to find either pictured items or list items. There are very few full scene HOP's but they include Interactive List Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Swatches Finds, and Multiples of the Same Object Finds, many of them include several different variations. I found the scenes to be somewhat dark and items were hidden behind objects that the cursor doesn't indicate you can interact with.
The Mini-Games, for the most part, are the same exact games offered in every Amax game, the only thing that changed is the graphics. They are simplistic, easily solved, and quite frankly more frustrating than fun. Along with the above mentioned frequent zoom zone HOP's, this game has back to back puzzles, many of which have my nemesis feature of "clicking on one may affect others" Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter in the game:
1-Rotate panels to create a path for both skulls to reach the exit.
2-Remove fingers from the ball, 1 may affect others.
3-Uncover matching pairs, making too many mistakes requires you to restart.
4-Move tokens along tracks to matching colored slots.
5-Move hands to the positions shown, clicking 1 may affect others.
6-Drag tile strips to recreate the picture.
7-Swap tiles to related image sections.
8-Rotate 4 sections until they align correctly in the center.
9-Find symbols in the sequence shown before the bar fills up.
10-Select highlighted numbers that will equal 20 when landing on the exit.
11-Slide runes along tracks to matching colored slots.
12-Connect points as shown to scale Olaf's health to zero.
The Collector's Edition version has 12 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art pictures, 8 Screensavers, 4 Music Soundtracks, 19 Movie Video Cutscenes, 20 Achievements to earn, 12 re-playable Mini-Games, 11 re-playable Mini-Games, 14 Collectible Cards (require finding Morphing Skull Coins to open up character descriptions) 26 Morphing Skull Coins (various amounts required to open up character descriptions) 3 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a built-in Strategy Guide

I don’t have as many of this series as some others do, but I have enough of them to say that I’m somewhat of a fan. This game, Redemption Cemetery - The Cursed Mark, will not be joining the almost three-hundred others that I have bought.
Having read the reviews for the collectors’ edition, I should have been forewarned and not even bothered to download this standard version.
Once again we have an evil entity whose presence is marked by voluminous black smoke. He is, of course, determined to destroy everyone including, obviously, a child who, if we don’t rescue her, will die in a fire set by —you guessed it— the evil entity!
Really? The writers couldn’t come up with a newer, a better plot than this old chestnut?
The first words you hear when this game starts are these, “No, oh, no!” That’s what should have been said when this game was proposed to the developer.
There are almost no options for the player to set. In fact, nothing has changed here since the first in this series was released some ten-years ago.
I play HO games for relaxation and, truly, I don’t expect them to do more than hold my attention for a while and be enjoyable. This game disappointed on both counts.
The repetitive and simple hidden object sequences offered no challenge at all. One after another, all cut from the same cloth.
If you’ve played any of the earlier Redemption Cemetery games you’ll immediately notice that the graphics are the same flat renditions, the music is the same overly melodramatic score, background sounds are more of the all too often recycled clanks, bangs, and screeches, the dialog is stilted and obviously written by a perhaps graduate of an ESL class!
I am sure that there will be some who post rave reviews for this game, just as there were some who thought the Edsel was a great idea. If you’re not old enough to get that reference, sorry.
Usually I suggest that you download and play the demo, not this time. Do not waste either your download limits or your time nor, certainly, waste your money buying this game! Show less
