Well I think it is an alright game.... I am pleased that I did not get the CE because there is plenty to do in this game as well as having the match 3 as an extra... what more do you want.... it is entertaining and playable for all levels , so it has been similar theme in others of this series enjoy and stop being so fussy.

I didn't really care for getting a item and then next click I had to use it. That was done quit a few times. I like to at least have to think what to do with it for a bit.
To not be let down there was: oil for rust, an umbrella to reach, feeding of an animal, paper and pencil for copying, screwdriver to remove screws (for a while now a screwdriver was replaced in games with a coin and I even used an earing once. I sure was proud but this time a different item was used.) I wont say what it was to spoil the fun. LOL Show less

As for the theme: A Casino Cruise to a tropical destination (sort of), what could be better? What I really liked was the Beautifully rendered Ship, exterior and interior, the pool, bar and games. For anyone who has been on a real life cruise, you will probably appreciate it!
I also liked that you could play some of the games, which we casino or card themed. This was a big plus.
On the downside, some of the puzzles were rehashed and some HOPs were those silly find-the-symbol, but thankfully only a couple. I didn't particularly enjoy the engine room, mechanical, stick this gadget in this indentation part, again it wasn't that bad.
On the plus side, the game was quite long. You got some interaction with a couple of characters of sorts. You got to drive between locations a couple of times, which was cool. And the locations were fairly interesting. There were almost one too many puzzles thrown in, whereas I would've liked more interaction with actual people (not ghosts).
The ghost cell phone was pretty neat though. While I understand the rehash complaints of my fellow reviewers, I really enjoyed the game. And the story line, while not totally original, made complete sense within the context of the game.
Overall I would say to try it out and with all things considered, it was a very good fun solid game. Show less

Ahh, the life of a movie star, everyone wants the life of a famous actress, but William Gladstone wants more than Virginia's Hollywood lifestyle, he wants her soul! It's time to solve another paranormal crime mystery, but hey, at least you get a free cruise.
There is a Gadget, your smartphone allows you to make an otherworldly call to the spirit world to speak with the dearly departed (data rates, messaging, and roaming fees may apply) It may be annoying, but it's megabits better than those stupid glasses featured in the earlier Mystery Tales Games! Now apparently, I can see the ghosts without the aid of my geeky glasses, but I'm still trying to figure out how all of the ghosts, not only know how to contact me via cell phone but how did they know my otherworldly phone number?
Once again, Domini has made a game toooo loonnggg, and filled it with useless, repetitive, repetitive tasks. (yes, that was on purpose) Domini has slipped into a bad habit of throwing in everything but the kitchen sink to make their games longer. They put in so many mindless, and repetitive, repetitive filler tasks, which doesn't have anything to do with the plot or its progression until it becomes mind-numbingly boring to the point that you just want it to end! I get it, it's a fine line between quality and quantity.
Some of the Hidden Object Scenes had clever concepts or were located in interesting scenes. There are only 13 HOP's in the main game and 5 in the CE Bonus Chapter, which pales in comparison to the over-abundance of Mini-games. There are several Keywords in Sentence Finds, Pictured Item Finds, Interactive List Finds, Vertical & Horizontal Slider Finds (match missing silhouettes) Combination Silhouetted Shape Finds, and Multiple of the Same Object Finds. A few of my favorites: A very unique scene where you choose the correct answer to the Joker's Riddles (Multiple Choice) and then find 3 Silhouetted Objects related to the answer. Finding 4 Objects relating to each paragraph's descriptions. Finding Multiples of Symbols (one of which morphs) on leaves filled with hieroglyphs. There is an alternate Match 3 game available, and one of the CE Achievements require you to opt for at least 1 HOP as the alternate M3.
There are a ton of Mini-Games, 29 in the Main Game and another 8 within the CE Bonus Chapter. Domini always gives you the option to choose between an Easy or Hard Mode, and you can also choose which difficulty mode is presented, in the Custom Setting (you can always manually switch per puzzle) Below are brief descriptions of some of the games I found interesting:
1-Drag a chain of colored tokens onto their matching colored squares on a grid.
2-Examine the clues and select the facts that match the photo.
3-Adjust the timing of gauges so they will push the ball past the holes to the end.ღ
4-Use directional arrows to guide the token to push the yellow ball to the end (gr8 "push the box" concept but way too simple even on hard mode Domini!)
5-Arrange flowers so the connecting flowers have related patterns.ღ
6-Slide skeletal hands to their color-coded columns.
7-Place Dominos to match either end to capture opponents pieces.
8-Play a card of the same color, larger cards beat smaller cards.
9-Rotate Skeleton head, arms & legs to align with each token.
10-Place all of the stars on the grid w/o intersecting rays.
11-Collect 3 of the same cards, collecting 4 of the same cards gains 1 point, 3 points to win.
The Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter has us back on the case when Virginia's Soul is once again taken while filming her latest film, Puppet Witch (that's gotta have some long-term effects) There are 8 Mini-Games and 5 Hidden Object Scenes and you'll pick up the remaining 4 Morphing Cards, 4 Cocktail Drinks, and 10 Zoom Zone Casino Chips which allows you to purchase the remaining VIP Room items.
The Collector's Edition version has 10 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 24 Movie Video Cutscenes, 15 Re-playable Mini-Games, 18 Re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 18 Achievements, 14 Morphing Playing Cards (with origin descriptions) 15 Collectible Cocktail's (yum) 60 Zoom Zone Casino Chips (used to buy 15 VIP Room items) 5 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-in Strategy Guide.

Mystery Tales Dealer’s Choice is the latest in the popular Mystery Tales series but unfortunately it has cookie-cutter written all over it. It took only about five minutes to know the gist of the story – someone stealing souls in order to bring a beloved back to life after a tragic accident. The game begins with your friend Virginia receiving an invitation from William Gladstone the billionaire owner of a gambling cruise ship. What could be better than a relaxing vacation with your best friend as you play the onboard games of chance?
This developer always provides us with long games that are filled with extras and for the most part excellent gameplay. My issue with Dealer’s Choice is that I dislike a game where the premise is to steal the gamer’s soul. I find this theme in games much more difficult to accept than a good old cloak and dagger mystery theme. I wonder when developers will use their amazing creativity to come up with something other than soul thieves and demonic entities. This gamer is rather burned out by the same old rehashed storylines.
Not only is the storyline a rehash but Dealer’s Choice is simply puzzles, puzzles, and then more puzzles. Yes, the puzzles are fun and some are challenging even when the “easy” mode is selected. The puzzles were enjoyable but there were simply far too many of them with twice as many puzzles than HOPS in the game. Even though a few squeaky wheels seem to demand more puzzles in HOPA games, there are still many of us who play hidden object games because we love HOS.
The HOS are very good and they are well-crafted, some are even very creative. I found them very enjoyable but wish there had been more rather than finding a puzzle at almost every step in the game. As mentioned earlier the puzzles are very good with some of my favorites included in the mix.
The overall gameplay was excellent and there were a lot of activities to keep me busy. Even though some items were used almost immediately after they were found. Several lived in my inventory to be used later in the game and I had to remember exactly where I had seen the locations where they should be used.
Mystery Tales Dealer’s Choice is an excellent game that many of you will love but for me it was simply another cookie-cutter game with a theme that I didn’t like. Please try the demo to see if this game is for you. Happy gaming! Show less

I own several of the previous games in this series, and have enjoyed playing them. While there was nothing over-the-top about them, THIS game comes nowhere near the top.
Besides having to complete the same tasks but using different items, and the mini games and hidden object scenes being rather mundane, it's the ho-hum storyline that makes Dealer's Choices a no-buy for me.

The description of this game is way too generous. I found myself losing interest as the story "progressed". A riveting storyline is what entices most people to buy this type of game, and people will put up with weird mini games or boring hidden object scenes just to follow the characters and the story. For me, Dealer's Choices was a fail on everything.
I don't recommend THIS game, but I suggest you try a few of the very first games in the series. Show less
