I love time management games, and this one was enjoyable for me. Nothing fancy or unusual, just a good tm game to destress with. I plan on purchasing it in the future.

(1)There's a slot machine feature that wastes a huge amount of the player's time. It's the least fun part of this game.
(2)There's only 50 Levels of play in the Standard Edition compared to 60 Levels of play in the Collector's Edition. You're not supposed to do that, Alawar.
(3)Some of the letters in the main titles are deliberately defaced to make them much harder to read. Please don't do that, ...Show more

(2)There's only 50 Levels of play in the Standard Edition compared to 60 Levels of play in the Collector's Edition. You're not supposed to do that, Alawar.
(3)Some of the letters in the main titles are deliberately defaced to make them much harder to read. Please don't do that, Alawar.
(4)The player can't completely refuse the tutorial. Much trash dialogue needs to simply be clicked away without even reading it.
(5)This game is almost exactly the same as the first 4 Argonauts Agencies: 1Golden Fleece (2018), 2Pandora's Box (2018), 3Chair of Hephaestus (2019), and then 4Captive of Circe (2019). Pandora's Box and Captive of Circe have the highest ratio of ocean water to land area, while Golden Fleece and Chair of Hephaestus have the highest amount of land area and the lowest amount of ocean water. Glove of Midas (2019) is about halfway in between these 2 extremes. That's the main difference between these 5 Argonauts Agency games.
(6)The picture resolution is adequately good but not any better than the first 4 Argonauts Agency games. By contrast, another Alawar video game, Hermes: Rescue Mission (2019), has a better picture quality and is more enjoyable to play than Glove of Midas.
CONCLUSION:
Because the music is adequately good, you will like Glove of Midas if it is the only Click Management (Time Management) game that you own. However, if you already own another Argonauts Agency game, then you will think, "this is just more of the same." Show less

Back in the day, Time Management games were a rare treat here on Big Fish Games. Recently, Felix finally realized that there are a ton of Time Management fans and we have been treated to some top-notched, 5-star TM games. Because of this, we TM fans don't have to settle, we don't have to be content with subpar, run-of-the-mill, boring games, such as Argonauts Agency! We can be picky, we should be picky IF we want the top-notched, amazing TM games to keep flowing our way.

This game isn't visually appealing because everything is a golden hue. Constantly having to row my raft back and forth to gather resources on several different islands just isn't fun, it's boring, and it's exactly the same scenario as the last game, and the game before that, and the game before that, I'm confident it will be the same task in the fifth installment as well.

You can play in an Untimed, Normal or Hard difficulty mode and it allows you to switch back and forth easily before the start of each level with an icon located above the levels. I do like this feature because sometimes it's helpful to play the first go-round in an untimed mode to figure out what the requirements are, such as what materials are needed for each task (bridges, boulders, etc) and then play the level again in a normal or hard mode, especially when a TM game requires a lot of strategies. Once you have collected 5 Stars, you get to open a Treasure Chest located on the bottom left of the Map screen. That gives you 3 small chests to choose from and you can earn extra resources and bonuses.

Bonuses have to be won by spinning a Casino Slot Machine with Crystals as the currency. You will earn 10 Crystals every 5 minutes you play (why not leave the game running overnight?) The bonuses are % based and become more worthy the higher the percentage:

⛏️Sandals~speeds up the characters.
⛏️Axe~cut down trees faster.
⛏️Shovel~fill holes faster.
⛏️Sword~monster battle time reduced.
⛏️Hammer~speeds up construction.
⛏️Pick~speeds stone breaking time.

There's really nothing different here than any other TM game. Build Farms for food, Sawmills for wood, Gold Mines, Quarries for stone and Markets for trading food for specific materials such as Stone or Gold. There are the usual Berry Bushes for a renewable food source, as well as the usual path blockers of conveniently cut & stacked wood, boulders, puddles, holes, bread loaves that somehow gets left strategically on a blocked path just when you need it the most, not to mention random caches of gold coins. (did 1 person lose all that gold or are there several absent-minded millionaires?)

The only features offered in the Collector's Edition version, are 10 pages of Concept Art pictures and 5 Music Soundtracks, 31 Achievements a few extra levels in the Additional Campaign section, and for the first time, a Strategy Guide was offered. So I suppose this would be the better choice of versions?

I was a huge fan of the Time Management games featured on Big Fish. However over the past year every single new TM game released is a poor imitation of previous games in the same series. Here are my major complaints:

Dumbed Down Graphics: Everything is flat with no hint of depth of field or perspective. The field of play has been reduced in order to make room for the overly large and color saturated characters. Every single game looks like it was developed with a 3-year old consultant and the maps look like something you would find on a children's placemat at a cheap family restaurant.

Stupid Game Play: How many times can you pick berries from the same bush or chop wood from the same tree without getting bored enough to bail on the game? There is no longer any hint of surprise or something to actually challenge the player. Gone are the games where you would actually have to figure out a strategy in order to get to the next level. Instead all we have is the same old, same old.

Hideous Music: Again, a 3-year old consultant picks the music, apparently. It is repetitive, dull, unsophisticated and insulting to anyone with an ounce of musical appreciation.

Please, guys, get it together. Not all of your players are young children and we miss games that were challenging, beautiful to look at and listen to, and above all fun to play. Show less
