When I first started playing this game is seemed slow and the graphics were not terrific but as I advanced I just slowed my pace down a bit and enjoyed this game. I love building a village and the items you need seem like a time management venue but it all works. I like the storyline also. This was a different mash up of gaming a cross between Solitaire and city building I enjoy a mash up when it comes to gaming and this was a game I enjoyed playing

I've been playing this game over several days and have been enjoying it immensely. I really like building the structures and reaping the rewards that come with them At the moment, however, I'm on Level XIII and as far as I can tell I have accomplished all the target goals for this level. But I'm not being promoted to Level XIV. If I get promoted over the next hand or two, the game and I can kiss ...Show more

This is a relaxing game with zero stress level. You earn resources for every hand you play and use those resources to build buildings to meet each stage's target.

Gameplay is uncomplicated higher/lower solitaire, with the occasional key unlock, bad luck that locks one of your special moves and wild cards.

Some things that are a little different here.

1. The game doesn't alert you to missed moves. I liked this, I tend to feel if I missed a card, I missed it. There is one free undo with the ability to buy more with resources

2. Unlimited wild cards. There's no limit to the number of wild cards you can collect and you can collect wild cards for every card in the deck.

3. Useful specials. There are two specials, removing an unknown card (not turned over) or removing one that is known. Both specials are random. There's no limit to the number of these specials you can collect (I think I had 50 of one when I finished the game) and you collect them either from buildings or by finishing a perfect hand.

You can either play the game using the specials and wildcards or attempt to finish without using them. Some hands are quite slim on the deck, so using specials and wild cards for some will be a must. Eventually, I got the knack of when to use these to the best advantage.

For instance, once I learned that if two cards were left on the board, the game would count that as 3 stars and not allow me to repeat the hand, I would use wildcards and specials to clear the board.

It wasn't necessary to upgrade buildings to complete every stage. Resources carry over from stage to stage so it isn't even necessary to build all the buildings in a stage if they are not required for the stage goals.

There are a couple of things that were less than satisfactory:

1. I never understood what the multiplier bonus in the screen at the conclusion of a hand meant. I couldn't see that it had any effect on anything.

2. The game was buggy in spots and froze up half a dozen times, requiring a restart.

3. There's no map and no way of going back to any hand you've hit the "Proceed" button on. The game will automatically advance you once you receive 3 stars on a hand.

4. It doesn't tell you when the game is over. Like others, I got to the XIII stage and the game simply stopped advancing. There was no The End or final story dialogue. That was quite a let down. But, considering the freezing bugs, I can't be sure this isn't just another bug preventing advancement. In either case, as it currently is, the game ends abruptly.

Despite these drawbacks, I recommend the game if you're looking for a pleasant, relaxing time. Show less

Is a fun game to play, but............I agree with WendaF, I cannot get past level 8 either. Even tried reloading the game, no change.

Because of the level 8 problem, I cannot recommend this game until the problem is fixed.

I don't recommend this game.

Was really enjoying the game until I got to level XIII, I completed all the goals but the game just stayed at that level. If there is a fix I would really like to find it. So frustrating.

I don't recommend this game.

I was thoroughly enjoying this Higher/Lower Solitaire game, which has a "builder" aspect, but as I progressed and became familiar with the game mechanics I ran into a couple of features that spoiled my fun. Once you earn 3 Stars, you can't replay the level, and unfortunately, you may still have cards remaining on the board. (to be clear, you CAN replay the levels IF you haven't earned 3 stars) Towards the end of the Demo, the cards to remove from the board are numerous, but the deck cards are scant, often receiving only 20 deck cards. I was rifling through 5-6 deck cards out of 20 at a stretch that couldn't be used and it simply wasn't any fun, especially if I had cards remaining yet earned 3 stars which meant I couldn't replay the level.

After earning resources during the Solitaire level, you use those resources to build various buildings such as Sawmills, Stone Mills, Crystal Mills, Magic Elixirs, Wells, Towers, etc. until you complete the level goals. I liked this aspect, although it would have been more fun to be able to place those buildings where I wanted and perhaps decorate the landscape as well. I soon realized that I had enough resources to buy all or nearly all of the buildings at the beginning of the next group, or chapter before actually playing the first solitaire level. You can also upgrade the buildings which get you to the level goals even faster. You also have to click on the resources the buildings produce because it isn't collected automatically. Constructing or upgrading some buildings will reward you with Joker Wildcards (number specific)

Most of the Levels have a Key Card that will Unlock the Locked Cards once it's uncovered. There is also a "Test Your Luck" Bad Luck or Good Luck Card that will grant you vital Resources or remove them. This is a worthless feature, in my opinion, because If I'm not given a choice to test my luck, I'm being forced to test my luck, thus, it's not an option to test my luck. Most levels also give you a Number Specific Wildcard, and there is an Undo feature that gives you 1 free undo per level, others can be purchased if you have the appropriate resources.

The two Key Players of the storyline, The Queens daughter and the building Forman, act as Boosters. One removes a random Face-down card, the other a random face-up card. They are available in limited use, but extras are earned every time you earn 3 Stars.

Unfortunately, I won't be purchasing this game. I can overlook the ease of being able to purchase the required buildings, I can also overlook the fact that there aren't many deck cards dished out. but the one feature I insist on having in a Solitaire game, is that I can replay the levels until I remove all of the cards, so my apologies to the developers for my stubbornness in that department. I was really enjoying this game until I got to level XIII. I met all the stated goals but was not advanced to the next level. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game but ended up with the same result. Played a few more hands of solitaire to see if I would advance but never did. Very discouraging- I bought the game because I enjoyed it enough to want to finish it :(

I don't recommend this game.

this about building a kingdom only the solitaire is just there to gather resources there is no map.
the only point to the three stars is to gain more resources
the solitaire is not challenging other then the limited number of deck cards you start with

I really like this game, it's so nice and slower than other ones. I get to take my time. One question though...... how do I get off of Level 1??? I've played this game for over a week, 3-4 hours a day probably, and I'm still on Level 1. This is why the mediocre ratings. If someone could tell me how to move along, I'd be grateful. Doesn't even tell you in the "how to play" mini section.

I don't recommend this game.
