fromLighthouses were originally lit with fires using whale oil. In 1782 the Argand lamp was invented which used ground glass, in 1759 they began using interlocking blocks instead of wood, in 1821 a new lens captured & focused 85% light from the illuminant ⛄

Fifteen years have passed since the incident occurred in Watch Hill, an incident that claimed the lives of your parents and baby brother Will. Today's assignment stirs all kinds of emotions because it has returned to your hometown, it can be anyone or anything to anybody. It has escaped, it renders its victims memoryless, void of basic functionality. It must be stopped, it is everywhere, it is everything to everyone, it is Project Black Mimic and it was the beginning and end of your beloved parents....sic 'em Elf!
Man, if this developer would just make their games a little more challenging this Mystery Tracker game would go down in history because the story is fantastic! The Bonus Chapter was a phenomenal concept that takes you back to Mystic Labs as the Anti-everything, the dark to the light, the down to the up, the wrong to the right, the Dark to the Light. You play on the cusp of a Fringe Universe, an alternate reality where things are the same yet slightly different, playing as the same agent of the Dark Trackers instead of the Mystery Trackers, how cool is that?
Unfortunately, the game itself is super easy and everything is predictable, you'll know what object is needed to complete every task, where to look, what to do and when and where to use things. You'll know where the HO scenes will be the second you walk in a room, you'll know to open up scenes where there are cabinets and drawers and know they will all need emblems. It's okay to have easy games, but maybe, just maybe guys, you could pop out at least 1 game a year that is suited towards the largest percentage of HOPA gamers, a challenging game? (maybe dev's wouldn't be struggling like they are nowadays. A decade or so later we have gotten really good at these games yet you still offer games that are super easy with no challenge whatsoever? The masses aren't being catered to anymore, so the masses have quit playing, We have evolved, but you remain the same, doing the same thing, perhaps even less challenging than in the beginning, isn't that obvious by now?)

Helper/Gadget:
I can't imagine playing a Mystery Trackers game without my partner Elf, nonetheless, you do get the option of abandoning Elf on the pier, man that's just cold! Elf is used 3 times per chapter (3 Chapters) in the Main Game and 0 times in the Bonus Chapter, however, Dark Elf is used 5 times in the Bonus Chapter.
Morphing Objects/Collectibles: (CE version only)
There are 12 Collectible Lighthouses and 28 Morphing Objects that morph at medium speed but at least they morph into a similar object to make it less obvious. Most of the Zoom Zones have a Puzzle Fragment that automatically completes 3 Screensavers (yet there's no option to "set" them?) My only complaint is that this developer never lets you return to the scene to pick up missed collectibles!
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 12 Hidden Object Scenes +6 in the CE Bonus Chapter. I rarely impressed with any of the HO Scenes by Elephant because the items practically jump out at you. Do me a favor and try to find the items w/o looking at the list and I'll betcha you can find most objects! There are Interactive List Finds, Multiples of Items Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Keywords in Sentence Finds, Find & Replace Items, Uncover Matching Pair Finds, Spot the Difference and an old-fashioned HO scene where you find & drag objects to their matching pictured token. There are no alternate games available.
Mini-Games:
There are 15 Mini-Games +6 in the CE Bonus Chapter. Most of the games are standard Elephant games that you've probably played several times. Here are a few of the ones I enjoyed the most:
1-Connect color-coded wire ends to partial symbols to complete the symbols' images.
2-Place letters correctly, letters are pushed along tracks as new ones are added.
3-Click on rolling balls.
4-Move buttons 1 step clockwise or 2 steps counterclockwise.

Bonus Chapter (Collector's Edition version only)
DO-OVER! Return to the same scenes as offered in the main game only this time you are playing as a Dark Agent working for the Dark Trackers. I loved this concept, it's a very cool and unusual scenario. There are 8 Scene Locations in this average-length chapter which has 6 Mini-Games and 5 Hidden Object Scenes. You will search for the remaining 3 Collectible Lighthouses, 8 Morphing Objects, and 9 Puzzle Fragments which allows you to complete the final screensaver.
Collector's Edition Extra's
8 Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art Pictures, 3 Screensavers, 5 Music Soundtracks, 21 Achievements, 13 Replayable Mini-Games, 13 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes (within the Archives Room) 12 Collectible Lighthouses, 28 Morphing Objects 34 Zoom Zone Puzzle Fragments, 3 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

I like this series with this game one of the better ones. The little dog is a must still in this series even though it is not used as much in this game.
One does look for many items but this game seem like it is easier and not a pain in the back side to me.
The bonus chapter was very long compared to others so good vale. Not more in the bonus part other wise but I did find all the collectables in this game .
As for being 'Illogical' as some say well I play this games to entertainment myself not to see how smart I am.
Relax and enjoy the game and don't be a 'Sheldon'.

Their games are dark and lack color but I except this about them. They have a brightness graphics option. I liked the cat called Galaxy. I like having elf as my companion. I liked the bonus chapter that circles back around. The achievements are nice, it wasn't just a stupid list. I like having access to things in the map. The map has photo, lighthouses & achievements. I only liked five mini-games. I liked the hops, especially the find the morph one.
The trial is the whole first chapter. Three chapters + bonus.
Secret room and archives is the same thing. It has replays on 13 hops & 13 mini-games. In the extras you have replays on 4 music. You have 8 concept art, 8 wallpapers and 3 screensavers if you find all the puzzle pieces.
I feel the collectibles should be labeled in the guide. They have the colored squares but don't tell you what they are but I cracked the code-Red lighthouses, yellow morphs and green puzzle pieces. Also the bead puzzle start your number on the bottom. Show less

My overall fav thing about this game was the Bonus Content in the Collectors Edition.
You collect Lighthouses and that was just awesome. Each lighthouse is lit up and gives you a brief description about each. I had no idea the Statue of Liberty was considered a lighthouse at one time, it isn't any longer but I learned that from this game. I liked the achievements room and collecting all of those. Also the puzzle pieces, one of my fav bonus content activities.
I highly recommend!

Like most games I play I don't bother much about the storyline, all I want is to be challenged with HOS and puzzles. This game has heaps and as such is what I want. The scenes are bright and graphics clear, with a couple of brain crunching puzzles to solve.
Really enjoyed this game

REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE GAME
3 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 40 pages (My Time: 4-1/2 Hours)
OPINION: Detective! As a member of the Mystery Trackers, you have been assigned to return to your hometown of Watch Hill to investigate an epidemic which decimated the town fifteen years earlier. Stop an entity, the Mimic, who has re-emerged, threatening the town once again. This trip down memory lane will also disclose information concerning your parents and brother Will.
This is a short game. I played the entire game in under five (5) hours. The sci-fi story is excellent with a cleverly written script. The story from the bonus chapter cleverly intertwines with that from the main story. It should appeal to all Elf fans and/or those who love this series. I found this a fast-paced game with a variety of activities. The collectibles are lighthouses, puzzle pieces and morphing objects. The lighthouses practically jump out from the screen, but I found some of the picture fragments and morphing objects a little difficult to locate.
To Elf or not to Elf: that is the question! Using Elf as a helper is an option within the main game, but not in the bonus chapter. Dressed in a très chic hazmat suit, Elf will help retrieve needed items throughout the main game. If not used, he departs ears down, sitting forlorn at the pier. However, if his services are not used, the player will pay for it. Toward the end of the game, an item must be retrieved on the top of a bookshelf. Without Elf, the player will need to resort to other measures. Dark Elf must be used in the bonus chapter. He is used six (6) times within the bonus chapter, a little excessive to me.
There are an even number of mini-games and HOP scenes. There are twenty-one (21) of each. There is an option to replay thirteen (13) of each at the end of the game. They are cleverly hidden within the secret archives room. I was not impressed with the HOP scenes. Most of the HOP scenes are standard lists of items and silhouette. Most are not very interactive. There some of the scenes which only have six (6) items to locate within the scene. I found most somewhat boring; however, there are some which use multiple scenes in various formats for the searches.
In my opinion, the mini-games are better constructed. There are some creatively designed puzzles. I particularly enjoyed the maze puzzles. There are four (4) of these within the game. I have seen an increase of the ratio of HOP scenes to mini-games in recent HOP games from this developer and others as well. Personally, I would prefer to see more mini-games and less HOP scenes.
MECHANICS:
• Four (4) levels of play including a customized version.
• 20 achievements.
• Collect 12 lighthouses
• Collect 28 morphing objects
• Collect 34 picture fragments for 3 screensavers
• 8 Wallpapers along with concept art, music and video sequences
• Helper Elf (You have the option to choose his help or not in the main game)
• Replay 13 HOP scenes and 13 mini-puzzles hidden in the secret archives room.
BONUS CHAPTER: The events of this chapter happen simultaneously with those of the main game. Go to the dark side! Play your dark alter ego, a detective for the Dark Trackers from an alternate reality. At the request of your boss, you are off on a mission to retrieve the Mimic. Your sidekick, Dark Elf will accompany you throughout the chapter – you have no choice. I found this chapter to be an excellent addition to the game. There are six (6) mini-games and five (5) HOP scenes.
SPOILERS: HERE ARE SOME OF THE MINI-GAMES AFTER THE DEMO:
A. Connection puzzle. Connect all pipes to fix a fountain.
B. Sliding tiles puzzle. Slide tiles to create an image
C. Maze puzzle. Move through a maze to the back of a lighthouse. Pick up needed objects while avoiding obstacles and gargoyles in your path.
D. Connection puzzle. Connect 3 sets of wires on 3 different rings to light up 9 lights. Use valves to rotate the 3 rings.
E. Maze puzzle. Plot a path through a maze by using directional buttons to set your path. Once finished, you will proceed. if you made an error you will return to the beginning of the maze.
BONUS CHAPTER:
F. Assembly puzzle. Create a vaccine following given instructions
G. Jigsaw puzzle. Place picture pieces into position to create 6 pictures.
H. 2-part maze puzzle. (1) Lead Dark Elf through a maze, opening doors to continue his way down the path (2) Rotate railroad tracks to create a path for Elf to reach the train station.
I. Maze puzzle. Go through a maze within 27 moves

Hello friends! As always, I review mostly on the game play and leave the story line to others who do a much better job than I. Another addition to this long running series. Graphics are quite well done in this game, very clear and no blurring when going in and out of closeups. Colors are not as bright as in others in this series, but still well done. Animation, when we have it, is extremely well done, very smooth. Voices are age and character appropriate, but are very few and far between. Not much character interaction in the demo. Game play is excellent, no problems during the demo and it fit my large screen quite nicely. Music is soothing and unobtrusive, just quietly in the background. Sound FX are well done, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of them. We still have our trusty pal, Elf, but we can choose not to use him during the game. He doesn't get used much, but he is quite helpful when needed.
HOPs are a combination of lists and silhouettes, so far. Hoping there is more variation as we progress. Scenes are fairly clear and items were not difficult to find. I did not see where you could switch to something else if you did not care for the HOPs. Puzzles are challenging, where you need to take your time, think about it and be patient. Hint system is very helpful and it does transport to longer locations. You do a lot of back tracking to the same few locations, so put on your tennis shoes for this one. We have a jump map, but it is rather boring and not needed with the transport feature. SG is the standard set up and does show you where collectibles can be found, in case you missed one.
Collectibles aren't bad, and are challenging to find in most cases. We have to find various morphing items, that sometimes are a bit small and not easy to spot. We also have puzzle pieces that are used to complete 3 large jigsaw puzzle. These are fairly large, but still easy to over look, as they are not shaped like a puzzle piece. We also have 12 lighthouses to find. So far, these are plenty large enough to see.
The story in this one is nothing new and moved rather slowly. I think it would have been much better if we had more character interaction and action. Hopefully this picks up as the game progresses, and of course, the game seemed to be heading in that direction at the end of the demo, so hard to tell if it will continue throughout the game. Not quite sure what is happening yet, as it didn't really pick up where the last one left off, and didn't explain much either. This one is interesting enough to make me want to add it to my collection. I think most all levels of players will find something they like about it. Gave this one a 4.25, simply because of how quiet it was.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Play on! Show less

The game is in pretty gray colors, but I like it. The plot is simple, but interesting, nonetheless. I also liked the bonus chapter, an interesting development of events parallel to the main storyline. It seems that we are waiting for an even more exciting continuation with the following parts. This is 17th part already.
I really like Elephant Games. Their hidden object scenes are always beautiful, understandable and easy. Mini-games too, although some make you sweat.
The only difficult hidden object scene in this game was in the last scene of the bonus chapter, where you had to look for snowflakes. They are very small and merges, and here I strained my eyes a little. I do not like to strain my eyesight...
The dog Elf that accompanies us looks a little dumb. It could be made more attractive. This is probably because I like corgi more. Developers, will you add corgi in new games?
However, he could be left alone on the pier, but I did not want to. You can’t leave your pets alone. Never!
I did not feel that the game is short. Just normal for the duration, and the bonus chapter too.
Somehow I missed the morphing of the object, and it is unfortunate that I cannot return after beating the game and take it. Yes, Elephant Games is not Eipix.
Achievements of 3 minutes per HO scene are too strange. I believe that you need to enjoy the search, and not fast-fast look for objects. No pleasure at all. And specifically to spend 10 minutes in the HO scene, why? They usually spend no more than 5 minutes of time. Well, okay, that's their business.
I gave this game "4" stars because at some points it was completely unclear what to do. It turned out that some objects are either inconspicuous or simply not taken at first. For example, a shoulder blade in a pile of stones. Or that you need to unscrew the screws on the side of the panel, which is not visible at all and does not even sparkle.
Also, the availability of a new location is not indicated on the map if you have not yet moved there. So, I was stuck because I didn’t know that a park had opened for me with a playground around the corner. But this is not indicated on the map. What a pity. It’s like a tip to developers so that this does not happen in the future.
Just like there are small bugs when it is shown that an action can be done in a location, but it turns out that this is half the action, that is, you cannot do it. Ugh... I hope everyone understands what I mean.
In general, I liked the game, I will wait for the next part.
Take it at a discount, I think, and you will like it too!
