We have all been so disappointed with the releases as of late. Especially during these difficult pandemic times, we are gaming a bit more as a means of escape. And we don't want to escape into the frivolous, boring, and mundane. We need to have our socks blown off and unfortunately my socks haven't left my feet over a game in a long time. Then along trots a Friendly Fox and <BOOM>...away go my socks! I'm really not into fantasy princesses and queens, being more of a realist myself. However, there has always been one fairytale that has been with me during my entire long life and that is the immortal Snow White. As a child, I was utterly fascinated by Disney's Evil Queen descending those stairs into her dungeon on the big screen. The animation was astounding. Big shoes to fill. Well, here we have a game that filled those shoes with their own take on Snow White (yes, we see the Dwarves). First and foremost: the graphics and scenery...WOW! I haven't seen graphics this good in a very very long time. They appear to be hand drawn, the palette is perfectly administered, and you (our heroine's older sister) are drawn right into the exciting story via these extremely well executed graphics- bravo, Friendly Fox! The puzzles are refreshing, new, and many are quite challenging. No match-3 option on the HOPs but they are fun and interesting enough to make them enjoyable. The find-'ems consist of morphs and coins. You definitely need a keen eye for the morphs, usually 2 to a scene, and there could be lots of coins or none in the scene. Keeps your eyes tuned! Fantastic graphics can't stand alone and need a great storyline to support the entire project. This story line is really well done and a great take on a classic tale. Not just anyone can pull that off but this developer certainly did. Now, the Princess in this little opus is a little cutesy for me but the Evil Queen joins the ranks with the best of them. The voiceovers could have been a bit more believable but none the less the voices are definitely not flat and suit the characters in their own way. All in all, an excellent effort by the Friendly Fox team and thanks to them and Big Fish for bringing this outstanding selection to us gamers and brightening our lives for bit! Show less

This is a classic done right, folks! Playing this game brought back so many fond memories, reminding me why I fell in love with HOPAs nearly a decade ago. Games back in the day didn't limit the available scenes to 1 or 2 locations at a time, they allowed you to meander through several locations, and this is what made games more interesting, more challenging because you had to think about where something was located, what to do, where to go, and what to do when you got there...oh, these were the good ole days when games were so much better, so much more fun! Thank you Friendly Fox for remastering a classic!
Collectibles/Morphing Objects: (CE version only)
Each scene has 1-2 Morphing Objects (for a total of 106!) The morphs allow you to unlock Roses at intervals of 5-10-25-37-51-76-106. There are 58 Coins in some of the scenes as well (263 total worth) There is an available pull-out Tab that tells you how many morphs & coins remain in each scene which is super helpful due to the fact that not every scene has the same amount of morphs and not every scene has coins! The coins are used to upgrade your Pet Squirrel, once you find him and name him that is :)
Gadget/Helper:
There is a "Helper" the above mentioned Squirrel, but he is only used a few times to retrieve items no mortal sister can easily reach. You can purchase items for the squirrel with the collectible coins, such as a cozy little house. This is an added feature that the original didn't have if I'm not mistaken?
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 24 Hidden Object Scenes +7 in the CE Bonus Chapter. These are classic HO's and they just don't make them like this anymore! Items don't stick out like a sore thumb in the scenes, they are really well done and very entertaining. There are Interactive List Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Keywords in Sentence Finds, and a really fun Progressive, Interactive scene where you find and place items into a box while turning a key to switch scenes! There are no alternate games available, but you probably won't care because these are classic HO's.
Mini-Games:
There are 21 Mini-Games +6 in the CE Bonus Chapter. There are a ton of games where clicking one affects others which is usually my nemesis puzzles but it seems like most of them finish up when you simply click several times? Even the mini-games brought back fond memories, they have been presented multiple times over the years, but some of these puzzles have long retired :(
Bonus Chapter: (CE version only)
It's tough to be a big sister, especially when your sister Elizabeth is so naive! Once again she is kidnapped, but this time it's a wizard who is demanding the Flower of Life, found in the Gnomes labyrinth, as a ransom. This is a lengthy bonus chapter that takes place over 15 Scene Locations. There are 6 Mini-Games and 7 Hidden Object Scenes. There are no remaining Coins to collect but you will continue your search for the final 30 Morphing Objects which unlocks the final Rose.
Collector's Edition Version Extra's
7 Wallpapers (these are GORGEOUS wallpapers folks, the old-school, beautiful scenery wallpapers without the characters plastered all over them) 21 Concept Art Pictures, 4 Screensavers, 4 Music Soundtracks, 24 Movie Video Cutscenes, 24 Achievements, 13 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 24 Replayable Mini-Games, 106 Morphing Objects that unlock 7 Roses at increments of 5-10-25-37-51-76-106, 58 Collectible Coins (worth 263 total) which allows you to buy upgrades for your pet Squirrel (which you get to name as well) 4 lengthy Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-In Strategy Guide. Please join me at my new forum at thewoodsforum.boards.net...hope to see you there :)

Beauty abounds in this fantasy tale with the die-hard queen refusing to age gracefully. It is a gratifying story and for those members new to Big Fish, I'm sure they will fall in love with this game. The demo was a fine example of what can be expected in the main game and then some.
The graphics are beautiful and richly colored, the scenes are full of all sorts of attention-grabbing objects. The background scenery displays top-notch artistic talent which makes the game even more appealing. In comparing the two versions, I can see not much difference in that respect, except the graphics are improved somewhat. Each person will have a different opinion on that. The characters are depicted beautifully in appearance, costume and voice-overs. I thought the music was nice and background effects were appropriate. The little squirrel helper is still at hand, but in 2013 he wasn't around much. I don't know if he will be available more often or not this time. Playing only the demo, I've no idea of what the new features may be but newbies are always a positive thing.
There are again many morphing objects and coins to collect, lots of achievements and a treehouse to be purchased with the coins, for a pet squirrel. This all makes quite a satisfying CE for the collectibles fans. Although there wasn't much challenge in spotting them, they are still fun. In the demo, the HOPs were all lots of fun with a good variety which were probably updated to include new styles. And having 31 of them is just a wonderful ton of fun for me. The puzzles were not mind-boggling. They were fun with a familiar feel to some of them. Although I am not a puzzle lover, I enjoyed them without the need to skip any.
Since my 2013 Frozen Queen is still working, I really don't see a need to buy today's game. I'm not a fan of remakes when it comes to games since it means just a re-purchase without significant changes of enhancement. It's not like a movie remake where the changes are very evident, good or bad.
Frozen Beauty was a beautiful game and the bad-apple theme still works today to keep the storyline just as fun and interesting as it was in 2013. I would buy the updated game if I didn't have the older one. However, it is my opinion that we need more NEW games today, not rehashes. Bring us themes not related to fairytales and fantasies that have just been done to death. Let's see more sci-fi, mysteries, crime investigation, paranormal, spy thrillers.
Today's game contains lots of beauty and fun activities, easy tasks and a good story. If Frozen Beauty is new to you are in for a treat. This classic can be enjoyed by young and old, any skill level. Try the demo for a little taste of top entertainment. Show less

Just when I thought maybe it was my cynical imagination that had me believing the HO games released these days were mundane, simplistic and repetitive along comes this remaster of an old game. You know... back when the hidden objects were actually hidden (oh how I loved this), the mini games actually could be unique ( some easy and yet so fun) , the story line had a clear thread and the artwork was not garish "black light" colors. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game again although I must admit I feel slightly cheated buying the same game twice simply for the addition of morphs and objects ( some blatantly obvious and some devilishly hard to find). One would think it would be discounted for those of us having bought it before. None the less it was money and time well spent. Good job devs on this update. I'd be happy to see more of the classics get the same treatment.
As always.. try before you buy!

Hello friends! And the hits just keep on coming! As always, I review mostly on the game play and not the story, as others do a better job of that than I. This game has nice graphics, I didn't notice much blurring at all. Colors are quite bright, but not over powering. There wasn't a lot of animation during the demo, but enough to keep you from falling asleep. Game play was excellent, with no problems during the demo and the scene fit my large screen very well. Voice overs are nice and are age and character appropriate, with some emotion, fear, urgency and not just someone reading a script, but not a lot of character interaction yet. Didn't really notice a lot in the way of sound FX, but we did have some, other than some wind noise for background. It was almost too quiet. Music was okay.
HOGs are nothing new and I didn't see that you could switch to something else. We only have interactive lists and silhouettes. Scenes are fairly clear and items are not difficult to spot. Could have been a bit more for variety. Puzzles were not difficult at all, but a couple did take a little time and thought to complete. The hint system is very helpful, but it did not transport you to longer locations during the demo. We do have the jump map and areas are clearly identified by name and picture. The map shows you where you have missed a collectible.
Collectibles are not bad. We need to find coins to buy an animal, who is also a helper, and upgrade their home. The number of coins you need to find varies for each scene. Look carefully for these. This sounds simple, but it is not. You also collect 1-2 morphing objects in each scene, which are also not easy to spot. This is the challenge in this game.
This is an interesting take on an old fairy tale, and is quite well done. The game was easy to follow and flowed quite well. There is enough challenge to keep you interested and I found that the further I got in this very long demo, the more I wanted to keep playing. I think this will appeal to all levels of players. Yes, it grabbed my attention and I am adding this addition to my CE collection. I have the need to see how it plays out. Gave this one a 4.75.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Play on! Show less

REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE GAME
4 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 47 pages (My Time: 7 Hours)
STORY: Be prepared to enjoy a game which is a blast from the past - a blast of arctic air that is. Enter a frozen kingdom where its cold-hearted Queen uses an enchanted mirror to locate the fairest maidens and then steals their youth. After your sister, Elizabeth, is contacted by the Queen, she is whisked away in front of your eyes and now you must save her from this evildoer. Along the way meet others who have met the same fate including one victim which will be somewhat of a surprise. As a word of caution – stay away from the Queen’s apple tree! Taking a bite out of an apple from that tree can be deadly!
OPINION: Enjoy some fond memories as you play this remake of a 2013 classic. This should bring back fond memories for those who are long-time BFG members. The developer did an excellent job in updating this game with improved graphics and some new features as well. There are a lot of collectibles within this game – two morphing objects per scene (106 in total) plus 263 coins scattered throughout the scenes as well. I found most of the collectibles easy to find. The coins purchase items and upgrades for your pampered squirrel helper. The squirrel is used a couple of times to retrieve items; however, he is not used often. The morphing objects are exchanged for roses. The roses hide an extra picture puzzle which can be played at the end of the game. I feel it has a good pace in the main game; however, I did feel the bonus chapter dragged a little, mainly because of the ho-hum carbon copy HOP scenes.
MECHANICS:
• Four (4) levels of play including a customized version.
• 35 achievements.
• Collect 106 morphing objects which are exchanged for roses. Behind the roses is an extra picture puzzle which can be played at the end of the game.
• Collect 263 coins which are used to purchase items for your pet squirrel (which you name) and his tree house.
• 7 wallpapers and 4 screensavers along with concept art, music, and video sequences
• Replay 24 mini-games and 13 HOP scenes.
BONUS CHAPTER: It is a sequel. Not again! When your sister, Elizabeth is kidnapped again, this time by a wizard, you are off to save her. He will set her free only if you bring him the Flower of Life from the Labyrinth of the Gnomes. I felt this chapter dragged in some places. Remember the junkpile searches from the days of yore? They return in this chapter. I believe the snail pace can be attributed to the eight (8) HOP scenes, all of which are lists of items with a treasure trove of junkpile items to make any garage sale aficionado ecstatic. I do wish this developer had added some of the variety within the scenes as witnessed in the main game. There is also too much running back-and-forth between the worlds behind two mirrors in this chapter. I feel this chapter is too long and packed with time filler. There are seven (7) mini-games within the chapter. It is a long chapter which I feel would be better if it were shorter.
HOP SCENES: There are thirty-one (31) scenes, thirteen (13) of which can be replayed at the end of the game. Since this is a remaster of an older game, most of the scenes are lists of items, silhouette, and matching. They are interactive. The developer did provide some creative touches to some scenes in the main game. My favorite scene in the game is one in which items must be located within a story box and then returned to the proper location between two different scenes. Go back and forth between the scenes.
MINI-GAMES: This is a puzzle-lover’s delight! There are twenty-seven (27) mini-games, twenty-four (24) of which can be replayed at the end of the game. For once, we have developer who has provided more puzzles to replay rather than the HOP scenes. Kudos to the developer for this! They are a variety of ones seen in many other games. I found most of the puzzles easy.
SPOILERS: HERE ARE SOME OF THE MINI-GAMES AFTER THE DEMO:
A. Locate all the hidden apples on a tree.
B. Connection puzzle. On a grid with twisted, interconnected snakes, place 5 sets of colored gems into position, so that for each snake, one is located at its mouth and the other at its tail.
C. Assembly puzzle. On a 4 x 4 grid with 16 colored squares with animals imprinted on them, switch the squares to that no two of the same color or animals, are within the same row and column.
D. Matching puzzle. Match up owls on a tree.
E. Switch/Rotating rings puzzle. Rotate marbles on a hexagonal grid so the image matches a given diagram 3X. The puzzle increases in difficulty.
F. Alignment puzzle. Align 7 gnomes sliding them up-and-down so all are aligned in the center of the grid. Moving one affects the others.
BONUS CHAPTER:
G. Sequence puzzle. Press on snake head fountains so they pour water at the same time. Pressing on one snake head affects the others.
H. Map puzzle. Follow a map to get to the center of a maze. Arrows provide the directions in which the player can go.
I. Assembly puzzle. As per a guide, turn 6 sets of tokens on a cryptex, so they are identical to those on the guide. Moving one affects the others.

This was SO beautiful and atmospheric. It is the exact thing I was looking for.
I would love to hear recommendations for more games like this, and I'm going to look into Living Legends games.
I have no love of sci fi, but love fantasy, fairy tales of different parts of the world especially Europe and Russia, castles, and scenery.

fromLiving Legends: Frozen Beauty feels like replaying Ice Rose but with a different story. Yes, it is still very entertaining, the artwork is awesome and it was fun playing this remastered version!

Living Legends Remastered: Frozen Beauty is indeed very similar to Living Legends Remastered: Ice Rose (the first edition of this series), in fact, it is so similar that it feels like a clone. It feels like the developer just basically took the first game and added new characters, changed the story and changed the look of the scenes. The snow, icy theme still runs through this whole game which makes it so similar to the first. I don't mean to imply that the scenes are not beautiful; they are definitely extremely beautiful to look at. However, there are a few scenes that are just a bit too bright.
Frozen Beauty takes a twist on the well-known story of Snow White, the famous apple but at the end of the day; it is still based on the familiar plot of rescuing your sister. On the way, you will meet different fantasy characters and help them get through hard times and they will reward you with useful inventory items. The gameplay itself is nothing is pretty straightforward and relatively easy. It is very enjoyable though as the visuals are just gorgeous, voice overs are perfect and the music is just plain charming.
Living Legends: Frozen Beauty feels very much like a game from AMAX / ERS Game Studios not because the artwork is quite familiar but the Hidden Object scenes are very much like games from AMAX / ERS-G. There are two types of Hidden Object scenes; standard one with a few items that required interactions and another type in which you have to find silhouette item and use it to reveal another item, they are incredibly entertaining. Puzzles are nothing so original but they have some amusing twists; they are mostly not very challenging. We also really like that every single Puzzles has a Reset button, very useful in case you get stuck.
Through the game, you can also collect Coins (over 264 Coins to collect). These coins can be used to decorate you pet’s house; the pet is adorable but does it really necessary? Furthermore, there is also an interactive jump-map right next to your diary – it is very useful because otherwise, you have to backtrack until your legs sore.
In addition, Living Legends: Frozen Beauty has some nice Achievements you can earn. The main game is not very long but not terribly short; I completed it in about 2 and a half hours and the Bonus Chapter gave me about an hour of extra gameplay. As Extras in Collector’s Edition, you can replay Puzzles and your favorite cutscenes as well as browse through soundtracks, strategy guide, wallpapers, screensavers and concept art.
Also in this Series:
Living Legends: Ice Rose
Living Legends Remastered: Ice Rose
Living Legends: Frozen Beauty
Living Legends Remastered: Frozen Beauty
Living Legends: Wrath of the Beast
Living Legends: Bound by Wishes
Living Legends: Beasts of Bremen
Living Legends: Uninvited Guests
Living Legends: Fallen Sky
