It's been driving some of us up the wall. BUT, it appears the studio is working hard to once again be creative and move back toward the top of the Hidden Object Adventure game leaderboard.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game and the Bonus game was no disappointment either. As a matter of fact, I had to double check that this is indeed a Domini game. Good show, guys!

Another new series, taking us back in history to the days of witch hunting. Riviera and Mark, lovers who are threatened by Gregor who wants to destroy them. Seems like it should provide an interesting adventure. Something other than the typical fairytales and paranormal sounds good to me!
I didn't witness Mark transform completely into a werewolf. I hope he won't look hokey and cartoonish, as is the case most times. The demo ended with Mark finally entering the dungeon to hide from Gregor. I just wanted to hint my way through as much as possible. I don't like all the searching, repairing, replacing, digging etc., just to get to the adventure. Too much really dwindles my enthusiasm and I lose interest due to impatience. More action should be available in the demo.
I thought the graphics were grand, appropriate colors really made a difference. Domini's usual palette of choice would have ruined the whole look. The characters were very attractive, voices were good, costumes were nicely detailed. Gregor and Mark will eventually meet up, I imagine, and a battle will ensue. Riviera will surely have something up her sleeve to rescue Mark from certain death. She also has to avoid Gregor's evil intentions, she has already escaped being burned at the stake.
I love the witches, werewolf theme of the storyline. Hopefully it develops into some solid entertainment with good closure instead of the usual abrupt, disappointing ending. The story sounds promising and I want to discover what happens to Mark while he struggles with his werewolf affliction. Lucky for Mark that Riviera is gifted with healing knowledge and abilities.
I really liked the HOPs in this game. They were a bit more challenging than usual, a little complexity in one of them in the demo. Different enough to keep my interest from fading. Even the puzzles were more entertaining. The few I encountered were fun in the Hard Mode, didn't feel the need to skip. The number of HOPs and puzzles aren't overwhelming. That's a good thing when considering a purchase. I won't buy a game that is overloaded with mini-games, as I think they steal too much time that could be used to extend the story.
The collectibles were of average challenge though most were tiny and in dark places. They posed no frustration and the sidebar to keep track of them helps to avoid the frustration of overlooking any. The predictable numbers of each, the many notes, the 70 items to exchange for decorations have become so boring. I think some changes are due, to keep things fresh and instill anticipation of each new CE.
Domini has become so lazy with their CE content and, for me, it is a great determent. The SE version has long been my choice if I do decide to purchase a game, because of this. This will hopefully turn out to be a fine new series, we don't get many of them these days. I was pleased that I wasn't burdened as heavily as usual with all those senseless tasks that slow the pace of my progress. I was able to enjoy a little more of the gameplay in the beginning, enough to make me consider purchasing. Show less

I SEE A BAD MOON ARISING FOR THESE STAR-CROSSED LOVERS
REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE GAME
3 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 47 pages (My Time – 7 Hours)
Travel to the village of Bamberg, a village nestled in the woods, known for its coven of witches and a legendary werewolf. Join sweethearts, Riviera, a healer-in-training, and her beau, Mark, an alchemist, as they join forces to battle a misguided witch hunter, Gregor, who sees Riviera as a witch-in-training instead. Complications arise when Mark is attacked by a werewolf, finding himself under the curse of the werewolf as well. This is another good game with an decent story which has some twists and turns and surprising evildoers as well.
Play both Mark and Riviera as they tag team, taking turns saving each other in this game. When one finds themselves imprisoned or injured, the other is off to the rescue. Domini provides more game for the money and this one is no exception. This game follows the same pattern as their other games. There are three collectibles, morphing statues of monsters, feathers to add to dreamcatchers, and potions which can be exchanged for items to outfit a witch’s hut. I found most easy to locate. There is an indicator bar at the left side of the screen lights up when an item is within the scene.

It appears Domini is making some improvements to their games. I welcome the fact that Domini now has an arrow which can be clicked to return to the previous scene. The pace is excellent for the most part; however, I did find some parts toward the end dragged. In my opinion, some of the last sections of the game should have been cut. I realize that this developer probably wanted to showcase some HOP scenes and mini-games; however, I do believe the plot became overcomplicated and the game should have ended sooner than it did. To me, it seemed there was a lot of filler, running to-and-fro searching for inventory to use in another location to get yet even more inventory items.
STRATEGY GUIDE ERROR: For some reason, Domini has occasional problems with the strategy guides for their games. I always check the guide to see if I have all the collectibles. This game is missing the scenes “E” and “F” illustrating the collectibles and the pictures on the last page of the strategy guide are out of order.
MECHANICS:
• Four (4) levels of play including a customized version.
• 39 achievements.
• Collect 15 morphing figurines and 15 feathers to decorate dreamcatchers
• Collect 70 potions to exchange for items to outfit a witch’s hut
• 11 wallpapers along with concept art, music, and video sequences
• Replay 18 HOP scenes and 17 mini-games
BONUS CHAPTER: It is a sequel, years after the main game. After settling down to wedded bliss, Mark and Riviera, have a daughter, Canissa, who is preparing to marry Prince Wolfus. However, on the day of the wedding, Canissa is abducted by a wolf. As Prince Wolfus, you are off to rescue your bride. I found this a decent bonus game. There are five (5) HOP scenes and seven (7) mini-games. There is an incredibly beautiful HOP scene in this chapter, one which features bird nests with a wide array of colorful eggs. To me, this is chapter well-worth the collector’s edition designation.
HOP SCENES: There are eighteen (18) HOP scenes, all of which can be replayed upon completion of the game. A thematic Match-3 game can be played instead of the scenes. Although they are best-known for their puzzles, in my opinion, Domini provides the most creatively designed HOP scenes of all the other vendors. There is a wide variety of different styles, and all are thematic and highly interactive. My favorite scene is one in which three colored lenses provide three different scenes. This scene usually has the player searching for items; however, in this scene, the player must return items back into the scene and determine which scene the item should be located. I found this one somewhat challenging.
MINI-GAMES: There are twenty-five (25) mini-games, seventeen (17) of which can be replayed upon completion of the game. However, one of the puzzles, a map puzzle which has the player choosing paths to take throughout the town contains three additional puzzles within it. As in other games, most of the puzzles can be played in either an easy or hard version.
SPOILERS: HERE ARE SOME OF THE MINI-GAMES FROM THE GAME: (E = Easy; H = Hard)
A. E/H. Maze/Gear puzzle. Move an owl along the paths of a maze using gears to change the paths. Some paths may need to be revisited several times The hard version has more gears within the maze.
B. E/H. Sequence puzzle. Play a melody on a harp by plucking strings sequentially using hints written in a music book. If correct, you will fill in one musical item on the side of the harp. In the easy version there are 3 to locate and in the hard version there are 5.
C. E/H. Connection puzzle. On a stained-glass window, move a bee so it passes through each square once without retracing steps. The hard version requires formulating a more complex path to cover each square
D. E/H. Assembly puzzle. Move funnels into position to allow a stream of sap to flow down a tree trunk and into a container. The easy version has more funnels within the proper position whereas the hard version has them well-jumbled
E. Climb every mountain. Scale up a cliff by moving hand and feet icons to spots on the cliff. 4X
F. Bullseye. Adjust 2 bullseyes so they connect with each other using 3 sliders to adjust them. 3X
G. Matching puzzle. Locate 54 pairs of inedible berries.
H. E/H. Connection puzzle. Move stair steps back and forth so that lines imprinted upon them connect bowls at the bottom with 2 at the top of the grid. The easy version has 3 bowls at the bottom and the hard has 4 at the bottom.
BONUS CHAPTER:
I. E/H. Pull on colored cords up-and-down until each one aligns with a matching, colored circle on the left side of the grid. Moving one cords affects the others. The easy version has 5 cords, and the hard version has 7.
J. E/H. Matching puzzle. Rotate a circular grid on a tree so that gears with cutouts can fit on top of the shapes on the grid. The easy version has 8 of reach and the hard version has 10.
K. Paint by Number. Paint a picture as per a given diagram.

Think back to the short-lived Spirit Legends series and you'll instantly get a feeling of Deja Vu. I was actually excited about playing a game about a Silver Wolf whose bite causes humans to turn into werewolves but that excitement waned by the time I reached the end of two out of three chapters which basically had little to do with wolves or werewolves! They added a gimmicky Dark Romance feature where you play the game as two characters. I'm pretty sure Domini realized their ratings were tanking on all of the older game series releases so they used a genius strategy...pretend this is a new series by re-Titling all the games moving forward because a new series will automatically grab people's attention!
What they are failing to realize is that their games are getting poor to average ratings because they are making the games fool-proof nowadays. I realize they are under a lot of pressure lately due to the fact they are basically the "last dev standing" but I'd rather have one game a month that blew my socks off than 4 games a month that are boring clones from one game to the next!
If need be, perhaps Domini should opt to create a series of smaller HOGs (Hidden Object Games) to offer in between HOPAs to allow their team to concentrate on a few really good series games. We know they are capable of it, their games used to be really good and fans couldn't wait for Big Fish to offer a Domini Game! Go back to your roots Big D and try to "Spot The Differences" between Old Domini Games & New Domini Games, and the ratings will soar through the roof once again! BTW: Congratulations on becoming your own publisher Domini!
Gadgets/Helper:
There are no Gadgets but technically, you have a helper as you play both Riviera the Healer, and her beloved Mark, the Alchemist which is a feature in their Dark Romance games.
Audio/Visuals:
I can never really find fault with the audio or graphics in a Domini game, the graphics are really good but they do tend to be overzealous with the color palette. Lately, this is the only aspect of their games that really shines with superior quality, the stories are unimaginative and the tasks are so repetitive that surely even a beginner would take notice? Domini is also known for adding items that can be interacted with but as you'll soon discover, these interactions become a rarety after the demo portion!
Collectibles/Morphing Objects (CE version only)
Is my game broken or did Domini finally realize we don't care about finding a gazillion notes? Once again, there are 15 Morphing Monster Statuettes and 15 Magic Dreamcatcher Feathers. There are 70 Zoom Zone Potions that are used to break the Curse on 15 Witch's Hut items to turn things like a Crow into a Bluebird. I actually liked the cursed items and thought they were much more interesting than the uncursed items! There is an optional Collection Icon Tab that can be enabled or disabled in the settings menu which will light up when there is a collectible in the current scene. You can also choose to show/hide the availability of collectibles on the Map.
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 14 Hidden Object Scenes +4 in the CE Bonus Chapter which includes a handful of smaller Zoom Zone HO's. The Hidden Object Scenes range from simplistic Listed Item Finds to variations such as Keywords in Sentence Finds, Swatch Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Replacing items into the scene. I did enjoy a couple of the HO's, one where you had to turn disks in a circle to align various objects. and one where you changed colored lenses to find areas to Place items from the inventory bar, some of which weren't very obvious and somewhat challenging.
Alternate Match 3 Game:
There is an alternate Match 3 Game available if you don't want to play a Hidden Object Scene, which still doesn't allow you to make consecutive matches quickly because you have to wait for all tiles to stop falling before you can make the next match which makes the game super boring. The M3 boards are always square and they never add obstacles or new features to make it progress in difficulty. FYI: one of the achievements requires you to play the alternate Match 3 game in place of the HOS. (just once)
Mini-Games:
There are 14 Mini-Games +8 in the CE Bonus Chapter. You can choose to play them in an Easy or Hard difficulty mode and you can choose which mode to have them start out in the Custom Setting (you can still switch between modes for each individual game) I enjoyed several of the mini-games, particularly the mechanical types such as turning valves to fill several water tanks to the fill line. I also liked the Map puzzle where you had to find and use items to progress, it was far too easy to navigate through the streets, so easy that it would have been a worthless mini-game, however, it had several puzzles to solve which I thought was really cool.
Bonus Chapter (CE Version Only)
Fast-forward several years, Mark and Riviera's only child Carissa has found herself in a "hairy" situation when she is kidnapped by a wolf on her wedding day! There are 7 additional Mini-Games and 4 Hidden Object Scenes in this unusually short Bonus Chapter that takes place over a scant 3 scene locations. You will continue searching for the final 2 Morphing Monster Statuettes, a single Dreamcatcher Feather, and 2 Zoom Zone Potions that allow you to finish uncursing the items in the Witch's Hut.
Collector's Edition Extra's: (CE version only)
11 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 29 Movie Video Cutscenes, 39 Achievements, 17 Replayable Mini-Games, 18 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 15 Morphing Monster Statuettes, 15 Dreamcatcher Feathers, 70 Zoom-Zone Potions, 15 Witch's Hut Items (uncurse cursed items with the potions) 3 Main Chapters, +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

This felt exactly like a Dark Romance game and I have always liked those. Thus I'm giving this 3 stars.
