Loved this new Faircrofts! Yes, if you do NOT option out of conversation in the very beginning setup there are many conversations that begin each scene! I opted out any then FLEW through each fun HO and puzzle! Loved this one! I wish all developers would give players that option on some of the LOOOOONG and sometimes unnecessary dragged out commentary they write to make the game LONGER to play! Otherwise there will be many complaints about their game being too SHORT!?! Anyway, I really enjoyed moving through this variety of puzzles quickly without blah blah blah talk so many games do have. I suppose if you want a historical bunch of facts before travel locations and enjoy reading or learning about that part of the world that can be fun. However, my having already enjoyed a lifetime of travel I would much rather get straight to the challenge of an HO or puzzle! So folks READ your choices on the signup pages for level and options and you can set this great puzzle game setup for exactly the way you like to play these types of wonderful games! This is the first time I have seen this option and I have been a Big Fish club member and have bought hundreds of games here since I joined Big Fish Club in the late 1990's! This one is a WINNER! I wasn't going to leave a review on this one; but the more I play it, the more I knew I needed to input my 2 cents worth. I own all the Faircroft's Antiques games. At first I, like everyone else, was horrified by the amount of dialogue and there was no way to skip it. The devs took a hint and quickly gave the gamer a way to skip the dialogue, although now I read it all. I have come to feel some attachment to Mia and her adventures, sort of like with the park rangers in Vacation Adventures. I really like some of the mechanical changes in this version - like the 6 ways to find objects (silhouette, word scramble, image, riddle, etc.). I do agree that the addition of inserted dialogue during a HO scene is a step too far by the devs considering how much unhappiness there has been about the over abundance of dialogue already. Having the ability to magnify a hidden object scene is a good thing with this particular game. You either click on the magnifier + symbol in the bottom right corner by the hint picture, or do a double click on the scene to magnify. Right click to drop the magnifying glass. I will be looking forward to Mia's next adventure. Show less

I love this series, the characters are cute, their little problems are fun to solve (or watch Mia solve haha) and the challenge level is pretty decent. There is an option in Settings for "skip dialog" so hopefully the people who usually say this game is fun but too much dialog will also enjoy it more this time? Show less

If you're my age, when you read the dialog in the opening scene and take a look around, you'll want to get a little manila tag, put a price on it, and go stand in an antique shop.
Mia's double take on a sign whose style is younger than I am is just not Mia. Whoever this person is, please make her go away.
In this episode, Mia doesn't do her job. At all. Not once. And the job she was hired to do really isn't even up her alley.
She also goes gaga over a mundane dime-a-dozen item in an antique store (actually a junk store) which is so out of character that it can't possibly be our heroine. The real Mia has an eye for genuine antiques and would never marvel at stuff fit for a low end tourist trap.
As for the HOS's, the majority of which are very enjoyable, bright, and colorful, one asks us to find a TASTY fungus. Which turns out to be an amanita, all of which are poisonous. Yep, a nature photo of an amanita of the species with the ball-shaped red cap with white dots. Eat one and you're pushing up daisies in no time.
While the gameplay is great, the storyline has Mia dealing with so many unhappy people (and some really, really strange men) who she is supposed to eventually bring into a state of bliss that she never has time to do the job she was hired for.
Plus, for me it made most of the story downright depressing and even embarrassingly awkward at times.
And that's the whole story; no restorations, no finding interesting objects for her project, no history lesson of any kind, no real mystery, not even a scene of the items she is supposed to mull through for inclusion in the dedicated museum.
Granted, Mia is a problem-solver both in the antiques department and soap opera arena; but I have no idea what happened with this episode. I do sincerely hope the next one returns the real Mia to us, along with a load of genuine antiques to "restore" and at least the semblance of a mystery that's more intriguing than why Daddy liked you better than me. I liked this one more than previous Faircroft games. The graphics were super sharp and colorful, the scenes were pretty and busy, and the HOs weren't teeny-tiny. The game ran smoothly. There was too much dialogue for this type of game as usual, Faircroft favors talkative characters. It can all be clicked through or skipped entirely, but why should I have to bother? Also, the interruptions during my searching was unneccesary jibberish that was annoying because it broke my concentration. I enjoy stories in games if they are of value to the gameplay, but not so in this case.
I did enjoy the mini-games, especially Spot the Difference because it had lots to find and the challenge was good. I think the variety of games was decent and I didn't feel the need to skip, and the HO styles kept the boredom away. It doesn't make sense, to me, that there is an option to lock puzzle pieces in their correct positions. Who wants to spend time trying to get them to fit properly? It creates annoyance, not challenge. An Unlimited Mode becomes available after unlocking the locations in the Main Game.
I don't know if the CE would be a good deal or not. Even with extra levels, chapters or whatever. For me any hidden object game of this type is entertaining enough as an SE except for a rare few. Faircroft Antiques isn't significant enough to warrant the extra $$, in my opinion, but many players love to extend a game to keep the fun flowing as long as possible. I always get the CE for the "Ranger" HO games for exactly that reason.
The demo was fun and I will likely purchase the SE. It's been quite a while without buying a hidden object game, other than a couple of the cat-finding ones. The pros outweighed the cons and you'll probably be nicely entertained with this new Faircroft Antiques. Show less

I love this series and will always buy, but Glen Kinnoch and Treffenburg were the best. Would like to see Boomzap return to their early model and give folks who don't want to read the option to skip.
I found this storyline a bit disjointed. Anyway, just my thoughts.
