I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS A DOMINI GAME...THEY MAY WANT TO STICK TO CREEPY THEMES CUZ IT SEEMS TO BE THEIR WHEELHOUSE!

Difficulty Range: Beginner-Intermediate

I remember back in the day when developers still cared about HOPAs, how excited everyone was when BF would offer a shiny, brand-new release from Domini Games. They were just starting out and it seemed like ages between new releases, but we didn't care because we knew it was probably worth the wait, and they were! Eventually, Domini grew to meet the BF HOPA demands, as did their vast library of titles so they no longer had the time to seal every game with a tender-lovin' kiss...and the games certainly reflected this!

We saw the writing on the wall with each carbon-copy clone released, week after week, month after month, year after year. Our enthusiasm waned and fans were no longer head over heels in love (except for 1) with Domini Games. Fans became disgruntled as they experienced the steep decline and Moans of disappointment quickly replaced the Whoo-hoos of yesteryear.

As the years passed, I couldn't imagine a scenario for Domini to regain its Mojo...and along comes Gloomy Tales, one of the best games Domini has released in YEARS! The CE version received 15 Five-star reviews, proving this genre is in their wheelhouse. Clearly, the developers enjoyed creating this genre too because they gave it their all!

After playing last week's mediocre Royal Romances game, I'm even more convinced that Domini needs to drop the Romance/Fantasy genre (for a while at least) and concentrate on genres just like Gloomy Tales. If Domini assigned a special team to work on this Halloween edition, then they need to give those guys a significant raise and have them don their "thinkin' caps" for a go at round 2! If the Gloomy Tales team was the same team that designed all the other Domini games then you may want to figure out why they did a better job on Gloomy Tales. If you ask me, I'd say they are probably just as bored with the same ole genres as we are!

Collectibles/Morphing Objects (CE version only)
There are 15 Morphing Halloween Items, 15 Awards, and 70 Circus Coupons used to purchase 15 Circus Tent items.

Hidden Object Scenes:
The Hidden Object Scenes were varied with Progressive-Interactive Silhouetted Shape Finds, an arcade game where you shoot matching targets, one where you drag polaroid photo's with a missing portion over a wall of snapshots until you find the missing section, Silhouetted Shapes to find among several arms & hands adorned with tattoos, Multiple's of descriptive objects, (4 people with purple hair, etc.) and one of my favorites was finding 2 objects that when combined create a specific type of monster ( ? + ? =werewolf) AND they weren't really obvious objects so it had a bit of a challenge as well!

Alternate Match 3 Game:
An alternate Match 3 Game is available if you don't want to play a Hidden Object Scene. Unfortunately, they haven't changed a single feature since day one. The level layout boards are the same, the icons are the same, and the powerups are the same. The levels are always simple rectangles with no nooks & crannies to make the game more challenging, the only benefit is that you can breeze through the M3 game to get back to playing the game itself.

Bonus Chapter (CE Version Only)
The Bonus Chapter is a stand-alone story but it has the same 2 main characters and is very similar to the Main Chapter's story. There are 9 additional Mini-Games and 5 additional Hidden Object Scenes that take place over 10 additional scene locations. You will continue searching for the final 6 Morphing Halloween Items, 5 Awards, and 9 Zoom Zone Circus Tickets which allow you to purchase the final items for the Circus Tent.

Collector's Edition Extra's: (CE version only)
15 Wallpapers, 15 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 28 Movie Video Cutscenes, 42 Achievements, 20 Replayable Mini-Games, 17 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, Extra Side Tasks/Quests available throughout the Main Chapters (to earn points) 15 Morphing Halloween Items. 15 Awards, and 70 Zoom Zone Circus Tickets that are used to purchase 15 Circus Tent Items, 7 Main Chapters, +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

I played the trial version in Advanced mode.
The graphics are crisp. You can switch between HG or Match-3. The puzzles are not too challenging.
The map shows me at 2 different places (green pin), but it could be my mistake?!...
I enjoyed the trial hour, but I just fear the whole game could be on the short side.

I recommend this game!

I get sound but no picture. Can't uninstall because my laptop thinks the game is still playing. No clue whether I'd like this or not

I don't recommend this game.
