Elephant Games revisits the classic tales of Edgar Allen Poe in the next eerie entry in the Halloween Stories series!

Every Halloween, restless spirits are given an opportunity to complete the unfinished business that’s keeping them from moving on. In one particular case, a famous author has been tied to their ghostly form for 100 years – Edgar Allan Poe. The masterful writer of the grim and macabre has one more story to tell, but year after year, something is missing.

Fortunately, this year, Death himself has a plan to help the lost soul. Professor Allen R. Newman, a lifelong fan and expert on Poe’s work, is recruited to help the author complete his final story, even if it means surviving some of his most infamously spooky stories in the flesh! Do you have the courage to experience some of the most terrifying tales ever told? There’s only one way to find out!

Loved it! Great story, graphics, and level of difficulty. For those who say it's too short, I would say that I prefer quality over quantity. Almost all of the actions made sense (unlike a lot of other longer games). I think this game delivers quality and fun! I'm so glad I bought it. :)

The best graphics ever. Poe's character is so true to life. I have always been a great fan of his stories. I have to say that this is my favorite hidden object game ever. I have been a Big Fish member for 10 years.

id like to see other writers,too, but Poe is out of copyright,and i think Bradbury may be,still in copyright and King definitely is so the cost of using them a a basis for a game may be too expensive .excellent game ,will definitely be buying full version

A nice Halloweeny entry with some great literary references and engaging characters. Despite the spooky atmosphere it's really rather sweet. We play as Professor Newman, dragooned by none other than Death himself for a little help in settling the unresting soul of Edgar Allen Poe. It's the old Redemption Cemetery formula with three scenarios following three of Poe's stories, and the prize is sparks of inspiration that will guide Poe into the afterlife.
Pros: some clever writing from people who actually have read the source material and managed to insert our hero without damaging the continuity of the original. That sort of respect is appreciated. Great graphics, puzzles a little on the easy side but in keeping with the story (for a change).
Cons: others have noted its brevity but it's enough to make mention here. A couple of additional Poe stories could have fit this format nicely but alas, three is what we get, and not all that much of those.
Bonus Game: here we play as Death himself, harassed by a busy schedule in terms of clearing out unresolved issues with spirits bound to this world until he does so. Our client is Professor Newman himself, confused about what within his life could even have been considered incomplete enough to bind him to this world. We must find out and resolve - great length of play on this one and nowhere near enough real exposition at the end to make for a resolution, but enough hints to make it marginally satisfying.
Overall, a short but very presentable Halloween effort. One star off for brevity, and the idea that only with the CE do you get a generous amount of game play. I liked it but didn't love it. Show less

Replay 13 hops, 13 mgs and 5 music. Has 3 chapters + bonus, 7 wallpapers, a screensaver, 25 Expedition scenes to pick up anything you missed, secret room is a jigsaw. I collected 24 pumpkin puzzle pieces and 12 collectibles. Could use more collectibles. Show less

It had gotten to the point I had given up on today's games here on BF. The same drivel over and over again. I've been searching out actual adventure games on this platform from the early 2000's because playing these cookie cutter clones was becoming downright depressing. I have all the Halloween Stories. I have to admit, I am really enjoying this. The hand holding: for those of us that prefer casual there is actually some thought involved here as you have to move within the map to see if there is a task required. Bravo- thought! And you toss in Poe and I am there! So, thanks Elephant for making it not so easy- some of those puzzles! Sheesh! So, I am giving this a thumbs up. Exemplary- no, not Halloweeny enough. But still, I am enjoying the thread of Poe's genius throughout this game Happy Halloween, folks! Show less
