Avernum 4 is a role-playing adventure game. The setting is Avernum, a world of caves beneath the surface world, where you've been exiled to because of something you did on the surface. The world of Avernum is large. Even if you play around the clock, without sleep, it will take a few days to finish.

You can play with a full party of four, or as few as one character. I recommend four, because each character can specialize their skills into something different. There are difficulty settings, so if it's too hard or too easy, it can be adjusted to fit your skill level.

This is absolutely my favorite game series, and I recommend it highly. The world is very detailed, and the story is incredibly well-written. Show less

This is one of my favorite games on BFG... so much to do, interesting story, and hours upon hours of gameplay. Very underrated. I think Big Fish should get more from this series!

GREAT old style RPG game. Large and well scripted, good challenge and great play. Wish that we'd see more of these kind of games at the BF, as these bring back my early love of computer games. Shades of the old SSI and D&D games of the old DOS computers.

The only thing that could be faulted was abit of too much nostaligia in the sound department, but that faded quickly once one got involved in ...Show more

I actually started with Avernum 6 years ago, and this one did not disappoint either. It was nice to finally be able to play the backstory, as it were. I really liked that there was a keyboard interface as well (though not as developed as in 6). I freely admit I only made it as far as I did with the help of cheat codes and walkthroughs, because there is such a level of detail in terms of story and ...Show more

I actually started with Avernum 6 years ago, and this one did not disappoint either. It was nice to finally be able to play the backstory, as it were. I really liked that there was a keyboard interface as well (though not as developed as in 6). I freely admit I only made it as far as I did with the help of cheat codes and walkthroughs, because there is such a level of detail in terms of story and small side characters to interact with that it got confusing at times. I really enjoy that the decisions you make in the game affect the global outcome of things, making this game infinitely playable. Hours and hours and hours of gameplay! Show less

This game is huge and fun and challenging. How huge? Most days, I usually play a couple of hours a day. This game took months to complete. And when it was over, I couldn't wait for more. Because you can choose your characters, and because they can be customized, the game has incredible re-playability. The look is different from the other RPGs on Big Fish, but don't let that put you off.

I recommend this game!

These are my favorite types of games and one of the best Indie gaming companies around. There is so much to do and plan for. I would be every single game made by Spiderweb software it was offered here. You can play for hours and while sometimes the games can be frustrating it's a good frustrating.
