Look forward to variety of games that BFG offers to us as not everyone likes the same ole same ole.
Any story that contains The Vatican, Knights of the Templar, etc. is always interesting for me. Well rendered artwork and graphics. The timed gameplay was challenging and unique!
Enjoy! -Mama Mia-

The settings are beautiful, medieval and renaissance religious arts, and a HOS means looking at an old fresco or engraving and removing figures that do not belong there. The HOS are an intergral part of the story, and they keep your interest. (I love the map of Germany, where you have to find the cities named, one by one)
The story is reminiscent of Indiana Jones, with a priest doing the Indy role. It is grounded enough in history to hold your belief.
If more developers knew how to do things rights, we would not hate HOGs as we do. Show less

Whenever a Hdo Game pops up, there seems to be a overpowering number of people who vehemently dismiss the game; usually they are right and justified by the fact that many of the games by this devlopers are just plain bad. This time, I was surprised; after having played the demo, something strange happened: I actually liked the game! Yes the graphics are bad, the music is bad, the game mechanics are over exaggerated and ofcourse items in HO scenes are ridiculously miniscule and impossible to find. Despite these pitfalls, I really found the story interesting; based on the templar legend of the holy spear, and I found some of the minigames really fun. For example there is a puzzle of a map that you need put together and believe me, I spent a great deal of time solving it. The hint system is poor but I played the game in timed level and found that by finding gold stars, I had enough hints to complete each HO scene. Yes, the game is mediocre but I liked it and when my hour was up, I went ahead and bought it. I think this particular game deserves at least a domo try and you decide, it really has some merits and if you do have a credit left over, I do recommend this game. Show less

Could someone please pass the salt? I'm about to eat some crow here. I have been on the "Oh no, not another one of THOSE games bandwagon" ever since the onslaught of them besieged BFG.
After reading a positive review of the game..that looked..umm .."right" (?) I decided to trial it.. and as many know, I dislike trialing games. Feels like peeking at my Christmas presents and am picky about installing/un-installing.. then defraging and cleaning registry and junk files it leaves behind etc etc..however..
The game is not all THAT bad. I wouldn't pay full price, or even use a PCC, but as a DD.. I think it is worth it to some players. Why?
1. I don't see this as a beginner's game at all. I think most people new to HOGs would have no clue what to do.
There is a pretty good tutorial at the beginning of the game and for all Mini-games and puzzles too.
2. The HO scenes are quite challenging, I was able to find most of the objects, I think due to the fact that I have played enough HOGs I know most of the blending and hiding tricks.
I only used a few hints and with stars to earn more and the Mini's giving you 2 stars each you have plenty to help you.
(My only complaint is we are limited to having 6 total and to use them we have to wait for the hint bar to refill. Normally that is only in games where hints are unlimited, not earned)
Minis so far were ones I like Jigsaw and Match 3, fun and relaxing if you just read the short instructions.
There are 2 modes, timed and untimed, and its set up to let you beat your time in each mode. So that offers some more of a challenge and replayability.
3 There is invrntory items in the game, and places to use them. They are highlighted (in untined mode anyway) when you finish a HOS, so too easy, yet welcomed when I ended the scene. You do have to figure out where to use the items later on as you go, so iy does have a HOPA lite feel.
3 The Music was OK, rather soothing at a low level actualy. The only sound that bothered me was the occational ticking clock, made me feel like there was a timer, when I played it untimed. But only in a few rooms.
4 The graphics were OK, a blend of real and cartoon, I liked them and have seen much much worse! This game is definatly better than the first Hdo I tried! (I only remember finding lipsticks in a dark night club, don't recall the title) Would have been nice to have had actual drawn characters instead of silliouettes.. but it didn't take away anything in the storyline. Lazy yes, but I was focused on the reading anyway, and they did add names to them at least.
5 Speaking of that.. yes there IS a storyline here. Is it awesome? no. But, there is one. More than I can say for some other well selling straight HOGs. So if you dislike dialog and reading you won't like this game. For me, thats almost always a must have..and just like books, I'll read anything, so I want to finish the story. It's peaked my interest anyway I'd rate the story a 5-6 on a scale of 1-10.
No bugs or problems, the game ran smooth no lag.
I'm seeing more of these as DDs, so my advice is give it a try and for the full hour, not just a few minutes, because you really don't get into playing yet in that short of time. You just might like this one and others by them. Surprised me, and I loathed one I played, but then again only demo'd a few minutes. If its a story ot theme you like.. try one..as a DD anyway. It's a good game to play in between CEs, which also we didn;t have as many when HdO first came out, so there is a need for those "brain palette cleasing" games..maybe these will at least fill that need.

I was a bit hesitant to get this game because of it being what some might consider its content to be religious. But after reading the reviews and BF having a 'buy one get one free' I decided, "What do I have to lose in a free game." I can say I enjoyed this game and didn't find the game to religious at all. The story focused on the priest sent to find the Lance of Destiny during WW2. It made references to historical times periods involving the Knights Templar and the story around the soldier who used the lance to pierce Christ's side. The graphics are clear and the music suitable to for the game. The HOs where different because I found items associated with that scene, (for example: the garden, I found garden tools) not just a hodge podge of objects thrown together. And there are a variety of different kinds of HOs puzzles. The objects where easy to hard to find, so the magnifying option came in handy a few times. There are other types of puzzles I did throughout the game, which were not that difficult to complete. The "clue" or hint was different because you are allowed 3 but can have up to 6 total. (Finding the hidden star in the scenes gave me more clues to replace the ones emptied). And the clue button did take a little time to recharge. I liked traveling to the different places on the map and evading/thwarting the Germans in the race to find the true Lance. So, if you are looking for a laid back, interesting story, fun and different HO game...this is it! Show less

The main character tries to locate the spear and/or missing pieces, which are said to be located in secret and different geographical areas throughout the world.
This game takes place within the timeframe of the Second World War and you will come across one or two people, who in their quest for ultimate power, desperately covet The Lance.
It is quite an atmospheric exciting game, story wise and is typical of these old school and clunky Hdo games, which are a mixture of interesting puzzles and HOS.
In this one, there is is a lot of repetitive code breaking puzzles, where you basically do the same code breaking puzzles over and over. Interesting at first, but gets a bit boring after a while.
I find that playing timed is better, not just to make it more exciting but also, if you time out, you only have to replay the scene and not the entire game. Hdo games appear to be carried more by story, rather than gameplay and this is their strength, so if you like games with a good story. lots of basic HOS and some facts and history to go with it, you can't go wrong.
