I liked this game. It was a brain teaser and was something new and different. Games: General knowledge questions (answers given just put in order of relevance.) Slider puzzles. Coded puzzles (find the sequence.) String puzzles (uncross all strings.) Memory puzzles. Math problems (solve sequence problems and word problems, as well as others.) I know this game is not for everyone, however, I got a cerebral workout and really enjoyed it. Show less

This review is based on playing the 'demo' only.
I found this game to be 'wickedly' funny and the written dialogue just adds to the game. You HAVE to read what they are saying in order to get the 'jist' of the story.

Yes, the characters are 'cartoonish' but that is all part of the charm!
The 'puzzles' that I came across were different & fun to do. In some you are asked a series of questions and you have to give the 'best' answer. Now, here's where there is a problem...at least for me.
You get a camera and you have to fill it with film. If you give a wrong answer on the puzzle, then it takes so many rolls of film before you can answer that question again and thus progress with that particular person. Getting the rolls of film is NOT easy. They 'pop' up quickly and disappear just as quickly....not really giving you time to move your mouse over them.
As the 'puzzles' are the 'brain-teaser' types it is easy to make a mistake and you can end up needing several rolls of film.
I really enjoyed the game, except for this one little 'quirk'! So for me it won't be a buy, unless the developers can 'correct' this by slowing it down.
But try it.....maybe you're quicker and it is a really fun, lighthearted little game! Show less

Based on the demo.
I like quirky games like City of Fools and this definitely fits that description. The graphics are clean and elegant, the storyline is interesting and fun. The puzzles range from spatial to general knowledge and are not brain achingly hard but do take some thinking about so it's a great game for a bit of fun and relaxation.

Lots of brain-teaser puzzles! The story is pretty good, and I like the graphics because they're different than most of the games I've seen recently. The film canisters are indeed hard to catch; I have to hope it pops up near my mouse pointer and remember to click only once.

This is a puzzle game. So far they've ranged from easy to rather hard.
The graphics and music are delightful. I don't mind the dialogue at all.
The films (let you do-over missed puzzles) are hard to catch; I have a touch screen so it's ok for me. If I had to rely on my mouse skills I'd be hurting.
Enjoy!

So glad to find a great puzzle game! It is always good to see something different and funny. This game skips around, and I enjoy not having to do things in a particular order.

I really, really, really liked this game and will explain why I only gave it 4 stars later. First, let's get into the story and how you play the game - because there is NO tutorial and you learn as you go ... so I'll help you with what I learned during the demo. You're welcome - lol.
The graphics are actually very cute hand-drawn, cartoon-like, comic-book type pictures. No voice overs and a LOT of reading. But the conversations are humorous to hilarious. If at some point you don't at least smile, you don't have a funny bone in your body. It reminded me immediately of a Keystone Cops movie.
Your father, an inventor of odd things, has disappeared and his loft has been ransacked. You are off to find him. That's the story line. You meet your father's talking cat who accompanies you on your journey. You ultimately meet your father's Assistant who requires 80 gears to present you with a new invention. How do you acquire these gears as you are chasing down a person who has left your father's loft?
Here's how to play the game. At first, locations that you can go to will light up on the map. Click it. There you will meet a character (during the game you will meet many characters - and I DO mean "characters"). All with an amusing personality. A woman in distress over her birds. A young boy just loitering about. The Lequais twin brothers who embody the Keystone Cops - lol and many more.
When you meet these characters and have a short conversation, you will be required to answer a riddle. Answer it correctly and you get 10 gears. Answer it incorrectly and you move on to someone else. The riddles get progressively harder and harder.
Once you've collected the 80 gears, meet your father's Assistant at the hotel and he will present you with a mechanical cat and tell you to follow it. It will apparently lead you to the person from your father's loft.
Off to the catacombs you go and confront the thief/kidnapper (?) who will not give you ANY answers until .... you guessed it .... answer a riddle. Answer it correctly and I don't know what you get because I didn't. Sigh. Answer it incorrectly, and you will need "x" number of "films" to retry. This goes on with the other characters you've met as well. But, how do you get the "films". What a chore!!!!!
You will have to go around the map back and forth to each location you've already been to - back and forth, forth and back over and over until you see 1 (or both) of 2 things: 1 - a film (like from the old cameras) blinking at one of the locations; or 2 - a blinking red exclamation point that will lead you to an area on the map where there is a location with a film.
Once you click on that "film" location the fun begins (lots of sarcasm in that statement). This is what you will see and what will happen and what you have to do. You will here a type of popping sound repeatedly. At the same time, you will see all over the scene flashing white thin strips that are like closed portals. You will hear one last loud POP, in the lower right side of the screen a film will appear - notifying you that it's time to look for the actual film you need. Somewhere in that scene, next to one of the now open portals, a film w/hanging strip will appear. You have but maybe 2 seconds, if that, to find it, see it, click on it. If you catch it, you earn "x" number of films. You have to do this until you have enough to retry an incorrectly answered riddle.
BUT, several things you need to know. You, apparently, need to click on that film by the portal not only quickly but on an exact place - not on the strip part but on the actual film canister. It's NOT as easy as it sounds. Oh no, no, no, no. Missed it? Never fear. Keep going about and around and back and forth until you find either of the above mentioned things again and keep trying to collect enough films to go back and answer the riddles correctly.
I loved the funny characters. I loved the humorous conversations. I hated the riddles - I'm just not good at them. You CAN exit a riddle you don't like and move on to another by clicking the back button located at the top left of the screen. Had to figure that out too. So, I met the mysterious person in the catacombs but never found out any answers because I couldn't get the riddle right and spent a LOT of time (you will too) chasing around films to capture.
This was a fun, entertaining game and I would LOVED to have purchased it but my hand, due to an accident, no longer has the coordination, dexterity or flexibility to chase after those films. Makes me really, really sad because I truly loved this game. It's because of the difficulty of getting those films that this game has 4 stars instead of 5.
I know this was a long review but I felt it only right to give you the tutorial that was missing from the game. I hope it's encouraged to try the demo and find those dang elefants!

I actually like the game. It's not one that's the usual BF type. It is definitely not a HO/HOPA game so don't judge it on that criteria.
It is more of an adventure game with a lot of conversation between the characters. So if you don't like reading, this isn't the game for you. It reminded me a little of the old text-based adventure games. I enjoyed the snarky tone of some of the comments.
The basic story is that a girl's inventor-father has disappeared in Paris and she's trying to find him. She meets up with his assistant and he can put together some devices to help with the search, but she must find the gears for them. In order to find the gears she travels around to various parts of Paris and interacts with the various characters she meets there. In order to gain the gears, she has to successfully solve problems. So far the problems I've come across are historical sequencing, math/logic, tangram-type, mastermind and string. If she solves the problem correctly, she gets some gears. If she fails, she can't re-try the puzzle until she has collected at least 3 "time-films" which pop up randomly at the various locations, seemingly at pre-timed intervals. A way to get them to show up more frequently (at least it seemed to me) was to exit to the main menu and then go back into the game; that seemed to cause them to become available again at various locations. I did find it hard to click on the film rolls when they did pop up, though.
I liked the music and the cartoonish graphics (and I'm not usually a fan of cartoon games). You accessed various locations by clicking on them on a map and different areas opened up if you were successful in solving the puzzle/problems.
This won't be a game to everyone's taste but if you are looking for something different that isn't a HO game and you don't mind reading conversations between characters, then at least try the demo on this one. Show less
I recommend this game!
