Dana Knightstone is traveling to a book signing for Death at Cape Porto, when her car is hit by an avalanche that nearly sweeps her over the cliff! As luck would have it, the caretaker of a nearby castle rushes in and saves Dana just in time and brings her back to the castle to recover. Of course this castle is haunted as they always are, and the ghost of this castle believes Dana is his runaway bride returning to his side after all these years. Dana soon discovers that Lucian was left standing at the altar, but he wouldn't live long enough to discover the truth....she had been murdered! Now Dana must reunite these two ghostly lovers so they may live happily ever in the afterlife.
Dana has always had the ability to communicate with the dearly departed, and even her dearly departed dog Bandit has found his way back to her. Bandit looks a bit pale, however he can jump pretty high to retrieve items that have been randomly thrown up in a trees and other unusual places, so for now he can stay. ( how bad can it be if a ghost dog isn't housebroken?)
The Hidden Object Scenes are a mixture of finding items that match silhouetted shapes as well as pictured items, and smaller versions where you find multiples of a single item or fragments to complete an object. I enjoyed the mini games such as removing gems in groups of at least two, but as you remove gems the top gems fall down so you need to use strategy to plan for this action. I also liked the puzzle where you swap stained glass pieces to create complete portraits of 4 different characters.
This Collectors Edition has 12 different Achievements (some with as many as 56 categories) Cut Scenes, Concept Art, a built in Strategy Guide, Soundtracks, Wallpapers and of course a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Show less

The Dana Knightstone games are a relaxing bit of fluff with great graphics and interesting storylines. This one is not different, set in a Romanian castle filled with ghosts still reliving a love story and a murder! Unfortunately, you look just like the murdered bride Alexandra and her bridegroom Count Lucien keeps locking you up -- in the catacombs or the dungeon or wherever! Supposedly Alexandra was murdered by her friend Knight Nicolai, but I think the Steward might have done it!
Luckily you have your trusty dog Bandit (the name I always use for my pet game dogs!) who kind of looks like a ghost himself! Bandit of course can dig and climb and in general help you out. You also have a very nice teleporting map with activities marked, and a hint button that also teleports when necessary. Both of which make the Strategy Guide not really necessary.
The HOPs are a list, or an interactive lists of silhouettes where you use an item to get the next item. There are also some "find the pieces" types that are not hard, but fun. The mini-games stay with the theme, but are not that unique.
Anyway, like the previous games in this series, the graphics make you feel like you are in a castle in Romania. Despite the fact that there are not collectibles or a lot of CE bling, this is a fun game for a nice long holiday weekend. Enjoy! Show less

I personally love the snow and so this is definitely one of my favourites from the Dana Knightstone series! (That's why I love Death Upon an Austrian Sonata as well!)
Beautiful art, beautiful music to support the storyline. I enjoyed playing this very much!

In fact, some of them were a little frustrating. I eventually skipped the last one because it ceased being fun. Overall, this is a welcomed addition to my games. I recommend the CE because there is another mystery to solve. I personally like getting the extra gameplay that comes with the CE in this series. My only complaint about the game was some silly dialogue early on, but that was easily overlooked. Other than that, everything was great. A pleasant, relaxing five hours of losing myself in a game. Cliche opening aside, this game is excellent. I was hoping the villain's motives for doing the deed were a bit more romantic (Look at the photos. The insinuations are all there I tell you!), and although they weren't, it was still so much fun to play this game for the plot. It's almost as good as watching a soap opera, but far more engaging.
And of course the graphics are beautiful, as always.
I recommend this game!

When a popular author's car is suddenly buried by an avalanche, then she is rescued by a mysterious man who happens to be a caretaker for an eerie (and empty) nearby castle, you could be forgiven for thinking that you had wandered into a badly thought-out edition of Misery 2: Paul's Revenge or something similar. Instead, you have stumbled into the latest Dana Knightstone joint, Death and Betrayal in Romania: A Dana Knightstone Novel, Boomzap's latest adventure hybrid. Dana Knightstone is no Stephen King, heck, she's not even Tabitha King. She is, in fact, a best-selling romance novelist who just happens to have a unique talent — she can see and speak to ghosts. This has led to her being able to solve the mystery of whatever dead star-crossed lovers happen to stumble into her path and then plagarize their love-story for a public that just can't seem to get enough.
This time around it's a little more personal since the grieving ghostly Lucien keeps mistaking her for his lost love Alexandra, who was murdered on their wedding day. With the help of the ghostly dog Bandit you can point and click your way through this adventure to try and figure out who killed Alexandra and more importantly reunite the lovers so that Lucien will stop with the incessant "wwwwwhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyy did you leaaaaaavvvvvveeeee mmmmmmeeeeeeee!" routine. Dude, she was STABBED TO DEATH! The mini-games are mostly familiar, and seem to rely heavily on slider puzzles, but are sprinkled throughout the game in a pleasant distribution, keeping the gameplay moving along at a nice clip without bogging down the story. The object scenes are especially fun to navigate, as each is a multi-layered puzzle rather than the usual "find these 20 items on the list although you only need one" routine found so often in hidden object games.
Boomzap has once again delivered the goods with Dana Knightstone's latest outing. The scenery is easy on the eyes and the music is lush and a perfect accompaniment as yet another doomed love story blazes across the cosmos. The characters and the storyline are delightfully over the top, buried in enough cheese to drown Bucharest, or whatever Romanian city is closer to the action. Like a good romance novel, Death and Betrayal in Romania: A Dana Knightstone Novel is a perfect guilty pleasure and a tasty, cheesy treat. Show less
