Very nice game - I really enjoyed it and played the whole game in one day. I am glad I decided to purchase it based on the trials for both Standard and Collectors.

(and glad I didn't bypass it because the reviews for the standard) were lukewarm (less than 4).

The sounds were far and away SCARY!
Very OTHER-WORDLY.

It even has vague elements that remind of the puppet show series which i consider artistically superior to almost everything on earth.

For a non Collectors game, this one was really fun. The story line was great, the puzzles fun, but not impossible, and the HO's kept my interest and challenge level engaged. I would highly recommend the purchase. It's well worth your time and money.

Diva sang opera so beautifully that it was to die for, quite literally her melodic voice would drain the life essence out of anyone who listened to her voice! She was eventually banned from performing in most of Europe causing her to become a recluse until the angry family members of her victims took her life when they burned her house to the ground. But evil cannot be suppressed for long, and the opening trailer allows us to see evil reborn before our eyes as two evil minions search for the Diva's coffin in a dark cemetery. "I feel her presence near" is hauntingly spoken by one of the minions, and before you can blink an eye, the minions peel open her coffin lid to expose Diva's rotting corpse, "Rise Diva we've given you back your life" For now the show must go on, unfortunately when you arrive at the opera house to meet Kate Halbreits and her family for Diva's latest performance, you watch Kate being sucked into the entrance by those same evil minions! Your investigation reveals that the Diva needs Kate alive, but why?

As you try desperately to gain access into the opera house you are summoned by a young man who claims to be a "Knowing" some use their powers for good, others evil. The Knowing has given you a Medallion capable of stopping evil forces, however, each time the Medallion is used it requires new crystals to reactivate. The Knowing has hidden these crystals all around the theater just before the show and you must find these crystals before using it's powerful forces against the entities you come across. You will also receive help on occasion from a pesky and mischievous little ferret, who actually does more harm than good (and I might add that the animation graphics on this ferret is horrible, his face is out of proportion and he's just plain ugly!) On a personal note, I wasn't all that impressed by this Maestro, the other's in this series are fantastic and entertaining. I think this is a good game, not a great game and at times the game moved along so slowly that I became bored. Some of the inventory items have gears shown above them indicating that further action needs to be taken before using that item such as combining that item with another inventory item.

The Hidden Object Scenes are a variety of finding multiples of the same item such as 12 chain links, interactive list finds and progressive interactive silhouettes where you find the first item that matches the silhouetted shape and then use that item to interact with another item in the scene which exposes the next item and so forth. The mini games were entertaining, some smaller games are actually in the HOS such as sliding tokens around a grid formation with some stationary blocks that you use as a stopping point to maneuver the blocks into a specific color coded slot, and you can use each of the sliding tokens as bumpers too. Other mini games consist of matching two halves of a token to complete a picture by clicking on the tokens to rotate them as you use the center hub to exchange the two halves. I wasn't paying that much attention this time but in the CE, the Hidden Object Scenes have an alternate pair matching game available for those of you who don't like the HOS, just not sure if that option was available in this SE.

The Collectors Edition version has Achievements, Music, Concept Art, Wallpapers, Screensavers, Movies, Re-playable Puzzles and HO's, a built in Strategy Guide and of course a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Show less

The HOGs were varied, interactive, and fun. I did not find any of them difficult. There IS an alternative game you can play instead of the HOGs. It's a bit like those games where a row of "balls" or whatever is moving towards a "pit" and you have a "shooter". This "shooter" moves in a stationary circle and whichever color "ball" is showing, you shoot it into the moving chain of multi-colored balls to make a match of 3 or more like-colored balls so they'll disappear. In this particular game, there is no "pit", just a never-ending continuous circle of colored balls. The mini-games were also varied and while some were quite easy, there were others that required the old "patience and perseverance" - lol. I do, however, really enjoy the "story" ones.

You meet a "knowing one", who seeks your help in destroying the Diva because her singing affected affected the audience. Before he can speaking, he is also grabbed, by whitish-grey matter ................... and arms! OH NO! The Diva drains the life energy out of her audience. She's been banned from other towns and cities that recognized the danger associated with her. As a result, she went into exile ........ until .......... now.

This is amazing game! Fun, interactive games, suspenseful storyline. But, the rumor mill, water cooler crowd, gossip-mongers, what have you (people I trust, in other words), say this game is way too short. So, for ME, it's not a purchase. But, I encourage everyone to play the demo and make your own decision.

I love ERS games, usually, sat down to play this one expecting it to take a while to finish, was surprised how quick i finished it!! As usual the graphics and sound were good, but it was not challenging enough. The puzzles were easy, the hidden objects were very easy to find. I really liked this game and would have given it 5 stars, except that the artwork is not high definition quality.
The characters are beautifully drawn, good storyline, good mini games and good game flow.
There's a nice haunting operatic aria wafting from the theater punctuating the story.
The game deserves a look, and the lower ratings are not merited.

I recommend this game!

This is a good game I enjoyed it but it is very short and doesn't provide enough play time. If you want a good game that ends quickly this is a great game.

A fun game to play! Dare you listen to this Diva’s tunes? What’s going on and why? Will the warning be delivered in time? Will you save the day? An all round good game I thought.
