One feature I love within Hidden Object Adventures, are Morphing Objects, in fact I rarely purchase a game that doesn't include morphs. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the new devs (new to DP) have opted to remove the one feature that made Dark Parables famous. This series had the most challenging morphs due to the fact that the objects didn't necessarily morph the first time you came across them, in fact, the morphing objects in one scene, had to be triggered with an action in a completely different scene, which meant that you would have to travel back to other scenes just to see if the morph had been activated! With this major complaint out of the way, let me go on record to state that this is the first Dark Parable game I will NOT be purchasing, however, I do believe this is a top notched game based upon the demo!
A strange purple tide has rolled upon the shores of Crete, Greece and a giant Tsunami has exposed the mythical underwater city of Prasino, once ruled by King Alexandros. This beautiful paradise now lies in shambles, the sea has taken her toll upon the kingdom's glorious splendor, this city and her people appear to have been victims of war against another kingdom known as Kokkino. Your job detective, is to investigate the purple tide, but more importantly you need to separate fact from fiction and discover for yourself if there really is a Mermaid protecting the kingdom that appeared out of thin air!
Dark Parables still have collectible Parables, (although they have changed slightly) these are collections you will find in zoomed in areas that will allow you to read a small fairy tale once you have found an entire set of Parables for each tale. Now I will say that I thought I saw one of the parables morph but it could have just been the flickering of light that made it seem that way. They have also added the plus sign indicators that other games have adopted as of late, requiring some inventory items to be interacted with before using such as adding another item to make it complete. Every scene contains a hidden, Master of Tides Emblem, and the full version will have collectible Tea Cups and Felix the Fish will make a debut as well. There are also several achievements to earn as well.
The Hidden Object Scenes are actually Fragment finds made famous again by Dark Parables who blazed a path for others to follow. You will need to find several fragmented pieces that will combine three sections together which will be used as an inventory item. Dark Parables is all about emblems, every item you find or need to find involves some type of emblem, but there are also plenty of nautical themed objects to find such as seahorses, turtles and mermaids. The mini games usually follow once you find all the pieces to an emblem, such as interacting with a small stage, finding items on one picture and placing them in another picture and my favorite was a directional game where you had to guide an orb one cell at a time with a limited amount of moves, when you landed upon another orb, you would get additional moves to allow enough moves for the orb to make it to the correct destination.
This Collectors Edition has many features not available to even access without completing the bonus game such as a Souvenir Chest, and Collectibles, there are Pictures, Music, Movies, Parables, Achievements, replayable Puzzles, replayable and timed HOP, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter: John and King Bluebeard, enjoy! .....Blue Tea, that is, lol. Loved this new entry into the Dark Parables series! I played the DEMO all the way through and this will be definite purchase for me. I am a huge fan of this series anyway, and have most of the rest of the games.
Despite what some of the other reviewers have said, I think the collaboration between Blue Tea Games & Eipix worked out beautifully. (of course it's all subjective, and what makes one person deliriously happy....ok, I'll settle for pleasantly pleased, lol.....just frustrates or annoys the teeth out of someone else)
The artwork is gorgeously intricate, ornate, colorfully jewel-toned & fabulous! The voice-overs seemed to fit the game in a manner that was not annoying....you know like how some of them can get on your last nerve, with voices that just don't fit the characters, or tones that are grating, whiny, silly or the accents sound very fake, but these seemed to fit right in. Intriguing story-line; the premise hooked me right from the beginning, with promise of fabulous tales involving mermaids, sea monsters, and an ancient, oceanic city. It was fun to see the tie-ins with other Dark Parables games, too. Music was nice and sound effects were great.
I won't go into all the details, as others have covered them nicely, but I will say that the one really disappointing aspect of this game was lack of morphing objects (always a fun part of these games for me). I didn't take a point off for that, but HEY devs, so many of us love these, that to leave them out, especially in the CE, is a real bummer.
Oh yeah, I also like FROGS-type puzzles, and they were plentiful in here. There were other puzzles and HOGS in here, too, that were fun; some easier and some more challenging. I dislike it when the puzzles are so difficult that either you can't figure out how to do it, and you're left sitting there scratching your head, or you just can't accomplish the task, and who needs that kind of frustration? (Not me!)
I play for entertainment and relaxation, and strategy, so the storyline and the graphics need to be really good, and the puzzles, etc, something to have fun with and hold my interest; not make you want to yank your hair out in frustration! This game was a perfect blend of all the things I like in a good game....except the lack of morphing objects. Still this is a definite purchase for me! Show less

I will admit something, I was really scared that Eipix was taking over DP. I thought that BTG sold their rights or just faded away since they never updated Face-book, but now I'm calm since they're still working on their masterpiece. They just need someone to polish it and that's where Eipix comes into the picture. Both teams did a fantastic job connecting the dots not only in some of the adaptations of the Little Mermaid, but also one of the wives of the Frog Prince as well. And there's another surprise which I WILL not spoil for you, but here's the clue: In the past game, we witness a death. Then a few days later, we found the body. We never brought it back for a proper funeral unless you want to go there at night. Oh and another hint to know who your ally is: He married a damsel in distress and his mother was once a villain.
The Good:
Visual: The kingdom under the sea is so beautiful I want to be a mermaid. 10/10
Mood: somehow calm but gets your heart pumping when the time is right. 10/10
Music: Great when it needs to be. Swear I thought I heard a villain version of 'Part of Your World'. 10/10
Voice-acting:NO BUGS WHAT SO EVER!!! 10/10
Story: Nearly the best part of the game and you will love the twist. Just don't get too surprise or you'll never finish it. 10/10
FROGS: This time a challenge took me about 5 minutes each to find all the small ones in sections and I already have bad eyes. 10/10
Puzzles: Got another challenge and it big improvement. 10/10
Replayvalue: Since eipix had taken over, 50/50, I think we can finally play over and over to get the rest of the achievements. 10/10
Bonus game: A bit of a disappointment since it was the game was a bit short. But it does make some of it up since we got a legend and not a myth. Bluebeard. Doesn't really help much but at least see how events came to pass. 15/20
That Bad:
1. Again not a big fan of achievements. This time. Eipix took over the achievements. They're not so stupid but that's my opinion. -1
2. Not a fan of hidden achievements such as find all 6 tea-cups and find 3 Felix the fish. Mostly cause they weren't in the guide and there's going to be some who will destroy their computers if they fail. -1
The final verdict is a 93% A-. Blue Tea Games, I'm sorry that I've been giving you a hard time when I saw the beta. But I think this partnership with Eipix is the right thing to do and maybe with their help, they can help you on continuing you other series as well. Please don't screw this up either of you. Now I'm guessing you, the gamers, are wonder what is the hint of the next game. Well to by honest there's no hint at the end of the game, but I did see something that would make a lot of people happy and I'm hoping I'm right of what it is. Here's the hint: The most beautiful love story ever told. Show less
I recommend this game!

The Dark Parable series is one of my favorites, This one about the Little Mermaid adds on to the list about Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and others. All are quite good and a bit "twisted."
So you are once again a detective tasked with looking into a Purple Tide - which doesn't appear in the demo! Here in Florida we have a Red Tide, which kills fish, so perhaps it is related? What you do find is the lost city of Prasimo and a beautiful mermaid with a grumpy king for a father. It takes you a while to work your way to the Palace, but you meet the King - and the demo ends! I played for 82 minutes and enjoyed it thoroughly.
The CE bling includes 40 crescent moons to find, with an icon to let you know if you've missed one. I also found one of the 6 tea cups in plain sight. There is also a souvenir chest, and 19 achievements that are time and hint based. A nice touch in these stories are the Parables, which get revealed after you find the four objects for the parable, and advance the story for you.
There are four modes of difficulty, including custom. The teleporting map is nice, and activities are marked in casual mode. The HOPs are all FROGs, where you find lots of pieces that eventually make up something you need, like a key. The mini-games are interesting -- I enjoy the ones where you have to interact with a scenario, or move pieces around in order to solve the puzzle.
As usual in these games, the art is gorgeous, and the voice-overs have lips that move. I do miss the "Making Of" extra, but the video preview after the demo ends is pretty cool. You should try this one -- and the others in the series if you haven't played them! Show less

BASED ON DEMO
Up until the sixth installment onwards, Dark Parables had been one of my favourite game series. So when I heard that Eipix was taking over the series from Blue Tea, I was scared. I thought “Oh no, they're going to ruin this!” I have had terrible experiences with developers completely changing the stories of series they have picked up. Well, my fears have been officially put to rest... this is one awesome game!
Of course, Dark Parables games contain fairytale storylines. As you well know by now, fairytale stories are NOT my favourite. But for some reason, I enjoyed this one! I did not like the opening very much, so the story took quite a while to get in to, but once I did, I was fascinated. Eipix certainly know how to create a story. The story here- although still following a parable- is completely different from any of its predecessors. Unlike previous games, there were multiple twists and turns in the demo, each one getting me more and more engrossed in to the game. I liked the inclusion of references and characters from the previous series. It showed to me that Eipix is not starting afresh with their adoption of the series, which is nice to see. I really liked our villain here- that evil eel was a creepy addition, yet made me laugh at the same time. I thought that “only a fairytale game would have a giant evil eel!” Although I have a feeling it was unintentional, the addition of humour in to this game was a nice touch. The evil eel has got to be one of my favourite evil characters of all time.
The demo ended on a really exciting note and I had to continue on. I will be impatiently waiting for the SE to continue my adventure.
Overall, a very enjoyable story, much improved upon from its predecessors.
I really, really enjoyed the gameplay. I was glad to see that Eipix was paying homage to the previous owners of the series by keeping in my most loved part of the games- the fragmented HOS. Yes, gone are Eipix's overly interactive, excessively long, super easy HOS. Eipix have retained the HOS that made Dark Parables so fun, which I was overjoyed to see. I have always found the fragmented object scenes hard to complete, and there is no exception here. It was nice to be actually challenged with a HOS for once in my life! There were many objects to find, all in the one scene (some of which were VERY SMALL!), which made the scenes a lot harder and a lot more enjoyable. Eipix have not even attempted to sneak in some of their own HOS that I have grown to despise... every HOS in this game is a fragmented object scene, which I was quite pleased about. There are 4 HOS in the demo, which is a great number. The HOS are well spaced out too.
I absolutely LOVED the Puzzles! They were so much fun to play, and very different from what we've been seeing lately, which is what I've been asking for for AGES! I have not had this much fun with puzzles in a long time. I think this is Eipix's best job when it comes to puzzles. I didn't find the puzzles to be overly challenging, but I loved them nonetheless. I hope to see a lot more puzzles as the game goes on (yes, you read that right. I said PUZZLES)! A huge kudos to this developer for making me love the puzzles! Similar to the HOS, there was a decent number in the demo (4) and the puzzles were well spaced out.
I also loved, loved, LOVED the adventure component of this game. I am thrilled that Eipix has paid homage to Blue Tea by keeping in all the awesome parts of this game's predecessors. I loved the return of all the little niches and secret hiding spots, having to find three different coloured items, put them on a pedestal, and have a little compartment open to reveal a needed item. That was one of the best parts of Blue Tea, so I am glad it has returned here. I found this game to be extremely fun, and quite challenging, I must admit. It is great to see Eipix have stepped up their game in terms of challenge, because it means I will be rushing to get the debit card out!
As far as extra features go, they were pretty minimal in this game. The only feature I found was + objects, and even they did not feature much. The + objects that did feature were pretty simple to use; basically just pulling things off the objects. There was one where I had to add something, but that was quite simple in itself and the object only required one interaction. The lack of additional features does not trouble me, but there is one thing I must comment on. I wish the + objects had been more noticeable. Usually, there is a + sign, but this time it was just a light, reddish coloured border. In a game with light graphics, that's fairly easy to overlook, and that's exactly what I did. I got stuck in the game, used the hint, and was told to click on the + item in my inventory. My reaction to this was “What??? That's a plus item?” This should speak for itself.
The lack of extra gameplay features does not bother me as much as it may bother some others. However, I think that this game could have done with maybe one other feature to add to the gameplay experience. Again, though, I'm not too fussed.
The basic features have been done quite well. There are 4 modes of difficulty, as well as an interactive map and working hint. Unfortunately, there is no diary, which was a key feature of previous Dark Parables games. This is what disappoints me, because I believe that the diary is a necessary extra.
Overall, fantastic gameplay that I just loved.
The graphics, as usual, were great. The scenes were drawn with some lovely detail to make them appear lifelike. The character designs were good yet again, and there was lip-synching, which is always nice to see. However, I noticed that the graphics were quite light in some situations, which made things hard to see. This was especially with the + objects. In some cases, I didn't even know I had one in my inventory. I also felt some of the HOS were a bit too light on a couple of occasions. Other than that, great job.
The voice-overs are standard. I have no issue.
FEATURES
4 modes of difficulty: Casual, Advanced, Hard and Custom. Differences are standard. Custom lets you set the game your way. I played Casual.
Hint/Skip- Both recharged at a decent speed for the difficult I selected. Hint is useful outside HOS.
Map- The map is interactive and helpful. It lets you know where you have current tasks to perform, as well as where your active objective is.
+ Objects- These were pretty simple; mainly just pulling things off. There were not many of them, plus the indications were a bit hard to make out with the light graphics.
CE EXCLUSIVES
Bonus Chapter
Built-in Strategy Guide- Does not show HOS Solutions.
Achievements- the achievements are great in this game. There are achievements such as “find all 6 cups of tea in the game”, which made me laugh.
Collectible crescent moons (40)- one in every scene, including bonus chapter.
Parables- there are collectible pieces for 5 parables, each of which tell the story of the legend the game focuses on.
Souvenir Chest- similar to souvenir room, I'm guessing.
Wallpapers (8)
Concept Art
Replay HOS & Puzzles
Replay Cutscenes
Soundtrack
WHICH IS THE BETTER BUY?
It seems to me that Eipix has really scaled back on their CE Extras. Missing here is the wonderful “Making Of” video, something which always used to encourage me to buy the CE. Due to minimal CE Extras, I will buy the SE and advise you do the same.
MY PROGRESS
There are 2 chapters in the demo. It took me 41 minutes to finish the demo on Casual mode. :)
Overall, this is yet another fantastic Dark Parables game. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the demo. It is safe to say that Blue Tea made the right choice in handing this over to Eipix. I highly recommend you download the trial and see what you make of it. Show less

The Dark Parable series has always delivered and this installment is right up there with its predecessors. At the introduction to the game I was enthused that Blue Tea has collaborated with Eipix in the making of this DP effort. The two developers are amongst the best and having them work as a team cannot be bad. The sunken kingdom of Prasino mysteriously arises from the ocean depths and our intrepid detective has the quest of discovering what's going on. Initially she frees a mermaid and encounters a giant eel that is none too friendly. Then she meets a cloaked stranger who offers some subtle clues as to what and where the detective must travel. As in all Dark Parable games, we complete fractured object ( FROG ) segments and some interesting and varied puzzles. There are collectible crescent moons and parable segments to gather. During the demo the object of the game is rather vague which is OK with me as I'm sure the story will evolve during game play. As is the case in DP games, Little Mermaid is visually stunning. I am pleased that the FROG scenes are somewhat harder than in some of the prior games. The demo ends when the undersea king makes an appearance and is livid in discovering a " landwalker " has entered his realm. We do not encounter any villainous characters in the demo but I am sure someone will emerge.to deter our efforts. At first blush, this edition doesn't hold the same level of enthusiasm as some of the earlier games. However I am such a fan of the series that I will certainly acquire the game. Players who enjoy the fantasy style games will find this a welcome addition to the genre. Show less

This game suppose to be developed by Blue Tea but they have Cooperated with Eipix which make the game a bit bad if you compare to other Blue Tea Games.
Gameplay:
There 4 modes of gameplay includes Customs.
It's still a FROG but the scenes are not beautiful and quite challenge [depends on scenes]. I would love the game if the Dev put the sound FX in the FROG like other DP series .
The puzzles are challenging but nothing new, just with a twist.
There 40 moon emblem collectibles and 6 parts of parables to seek and unlock through the game [ some part of them are morphing!].
There Also some secrets or bonus task to find Blue tea [6] and Big Fish [3] and just to unlock achievements.
In the game we have Hint , Inventory locks , parables , Interactive Map , Achievement and Collectibles indicator, Plus indicator [ zoom some of the object in the inventory and combine with others].
The game provide 6 Chapters and a Bonus game takes you to Bluebeards [Spoiler!].
There are no more Cursed Objects which is part of the game that makes the hint recharges faster and re-playables values.
The game also includes some of the older fairy tales characters that we have met like Pinocchio and other familiar objects , murals , monuments.
Audio and Music:
The music is quite ok and also the sound FX but the Voice over are top - notch. I just hope the sound FX in the FROG scenes will be change in the next installment.
Options Menu:
In option we can adjust Music , Sound , and Voice volumes , fullscreen , custom cursor and the game itself support widescreen. you can change the difficulty modes too!
Bonus Contents
Strategy Guide [6 Chapters + Bonus + Collectibles] , Bonus Gameplay , Collectibles , Achievements , Music , Movies , Concept art [just a few] , Wallpapers , Parables , Secret Room , Replayable Puzzles and FROG.
Overall :
It's such a disappointing that Blue Tea is not a full time dev for DP series , Eipix make the game more worst as the Graphics and especially the Cutscenes was Pixels. This make the standard down and not worthy. Anyway this is a good game though and Try it first ,then you'll know. It does take hours to complete it .

In a marriage between Blue Tea and EIPIX we now have an excellent addition to my favorite fairy tale series. Although this reimagining of the Little Mermaid is initially more reminiscent of the rebirth of Atlantis than it is of my favorite childhood fairy tale, it is nevertheless a beautiful fantasy presentation. As our story begins our trusty detective is off to investigate a Purple Tide with sightings of mermaids and sea serpents. Dive in and explore beautiful underwater seascapes as our intrepid detective is off to solve yet another mystery.
The graphics are needless to say gorgeous and a feast for the eyes. I love the saturation of color that is to be found in almost every scene. The voiceovers are very good and add to the overall cinematic feel of the game. We have the option of selecting a custom mode of gameplay that I always appreciate so that I can turn off certain features at will.
The HOPs are of course the FROG (fragmented object) type, and I am not sure if it is only my imagination but I am having a more difficult time finding the objects than I did in previous Dark Parables games. In the past I rarely had to rely on using hints but it seems almost impossible to complete one of the FROGs in The Little Mermaid without hitting the hint button. I am not sure if this is a good change but I know that since some of the fragments seem almost invisible, it is definitely harder on my eyes. The puzzles I have encountered seem mediocre at best, and there have been none that seemed overly difficult. That being said and even though puzzles are generally my favorite addition to HOPA games there is still something about this game that is irresistible.
I am not sure how many other gamers will think that the extras are anything special since there are only collectibles, parable pieces and gameplay based achievements. Of course we also have those generally useless other extras included but, IMHO and some may disagree, the wallpapers alone are worth the price of the CE. Even the concept art that is generally nothing more than pencil sketches is exceptional. Throw in the ability to replay the HOPs and puzzles, if that is something you like, then the game truly is as a great CE value. I didn’t even wait for a sale but hit the buy button based simply on what I saw in the demo.
With maybe only one misstep in the past, every game in the Dark Parables series has been awesome and I own each one. The Little Mermaid offers some subtle changes that come as a result of the shared input from two great development teams but none of those changes are so glaring that the intent of the original developer is changed. In many ways the gameplay seems to flow more smoothly and we have the wonderful interpretation of a classic tale. I love the game and know that I will relish each and every moment that I get to indulge in my childhood fantasy. As always, I recommend that you try the game for yourself to see if it is one of those that has your name written on it. Show less

I dropped my speaker, which is now broken: therefore, I cannot comment on the quality of voice overs.
The art work is, as always, superb, and especially beautiful.
There is a good story line, various levels of challenge to choose from and I especially liked having the one to allow you to customize your play.
I highly recommend this game for anyone no matter as to your level of performance. If in doubt, please consider trying the sample play. Have FUN! Show less

There are vivid beautiful gem-like graphics and FROG scenes. I love this game except for the HOP scenes. The FROG scenes are decent but I would have rather seen a little more variety with some puzzle-like HOP scenes. This is a beautiful game; however definitely NOT WORTH AN EDITOR'S CHOICE AWARD. Here is a recap of the game:
LEVELS: Casual (with sparkles - no penalties, Normal (Sparkles, penalties) Hard (no sparkles or help) and CUSTOMIZATION
GRAPHICS: Absolutely astounding. A beautiful work of art. Beautiful colors abound with gemlike radiance. Such a beautiful game. Devs - truly a masterpiece.
MAP: You receive the map at the beginning after solving a puzzle.
INVENTORY: Interactive
HOP SCENES: FROG scenes I would have preferred more variety in the HOP scenes such as the Pixies normally provide in their games. The lack of puzzle-like HOP scenes is my only complaint concerning this game.
PUZZLES: Not terribly difficult. A variation of jigsaw puzzles - disks to correct locations, storybook sequencing puzzles in which you must complete a mini puzzle to continue the story, marble location puzzles,
EXTRA GOODIES: I played the demo quickly - so I may have missed extras. However, I did not see any morphing objects nor collectibles. You do earn achievements Show less
