As others say it is indeed not one of the slick new hidden object games that come out from Big Fish and that we enjoy, some more than others of course. But I am grateful that Big Fish allows us to have this adventure(or "casual adventure") game from a small team of developers who are ready to give us something different.
The simple graphics and also the large amount of text make us feel in a different way and for me a no less pleasurable way and I would say a more imaginative way then when working with one of the slickly produced and packaged games. Perhaps this sort of game can even have at least a niche market in the future and there will be those who rejoice if Big Fish will continue to be open to such...
Beyond that I would point up the conclusion with some words in a letter which seem in their simple ,well even sentimental, humanity to shine a light on what is missing in the conclusions of so many of the slick games in which the player has saved the universe with the aide of a large woodchuck or something...
The play itself has moments when a walk through would ease the way maybe but if the player is alert to the use of inventory and of the objects in place ,it will go well.
So give it a try ...it is not for everyone but maybe if it is for you ,you will know who you are and give it a try! Show less

Game play is not hard to tackle, but remembering how you got to the area you are at, can be a tad frustrating. The graphics are pleasant yet without animation, and all the dialog is reading. I'm okay with this. Game play was smooth, and the background music was fairly nice. The puzzles were easy through trial and error, with a skip function and a hint, that only shows you where you need to be (not how to go back there). Not for everyone, but for me, a nice rainy day time waster. Show less

This time we are going on an expedition. No relatives to save. Note this is an adventure game not a H0G. Not like the ones we are use to. And I for one like a good adventure game, and this fits perfectly. Also mention on the inventory bar. You don't need to lock it. This team did the bar very well. Not bebopping up and down when you try to go backwards. I hope more teams follow suit on this type.
Story: Uncle Peter has located an old abandoned church that is suppose to hide something fantastic that Uncle Peter wants to find out about. He calls upon the aid of Nick a famous writer and Olivia his niece. As they go a little further they find a corpse that looks like its been there for centuries warns them of demons and ghosts. Does that stop Uncle Peter? Nope. It makes him want to go on. Very intriguing story so far which makes me want to continue.
Music: Fits the game really well and adds to the suspense.
Mini Games: So far I am loving them. Nice little mini games that are fun, not the type where you have umpteen steps to complete the puzzle. Ex2, Fx3 etc... The kind you look at the walkthrough to complete. And yes there is a SKIP button.
Hint button: Very well done. You can't get stuck with that type of hint. It even shows you a picture of where you need to go. It shows you practically everything for help.
Graphics: Very well done for a cartoon style game. very crisp and clear. The graphics here are done better than some of the cartoons I've seen on my HD t.v..
Journal: I am putting the journal here because this journal is very helpful. This one here is a great memory jogger like when Isabela gave a list of what needed to be taken on the journey. It just doesn't repeat what the main character all ready said which I find totally useless. And it doesn't sparkle when a new entry is put in. Thank you team!
Kudos all the way around to the team on this game. I love it! Thank you for a wonderful game. Show less

The game is cartoon style with static frames and drag and drop inventory. There is lots to read [again... very cartoon style since many cartoons contain the same] and yet the interactions are more sophisticated. The characters are both charming and intelligent [being scientists] so this game will satisfy both younger gamers as well as more advanced [older] IMHO.
I suggest you give the demo a try; many reviews here are negative yet you may just be among those of us enjoying and appreciating this great little game. A nice variation of the theme. Show less

There is a journal, which is really kind of useless, and an inventory rucksack. Inventory doesn't lock, as far as I can see. There are no hidden object scenes, per se, but you will go on scavenger hunts.
Localization is awful - so awful, in fact, it is quite funny. This is obviously a low-budget and/or first effort by the devs. The scenes are really basic, no interactive things outside the minigames, which are only mildly challenging in the demo.
And yet... I had fun playing. The storyline develops as it goes, and is kind of sci-fi/aliens/paranormal rolled into one. The characters are sort of likeable in a wooden way, and the dialog is oddball. I was surprised when the demo ended, and I definitely want to see where the story goes.
Despite its faults, I'll buy it, especially with the sale. Try it, you might like it, too. Show less

I've been a gamer since 1980, and currently own 638 computer games. An immersive storyline and challenging, innovative gameplay are most important to me.

STORYLINE
Skeptical Olivia goes visiting her Uncle Peter when he asks for her help. She knows him all too well; he is a conspiracy theorist of the highest order. Olivia learns that her uncle and his new colleague, Nick, have discovered an ancient site under an abandoned church that mainstream archaeologists apparently missed. What they find there will blow their minds…and yours.
I mean, it's as if this dev actually came up with a unique plot idea, then sat down and developed it in detail, masterfully integrating the gameplay. You know, like game developers are supposed to do. Like they used to do. The plot was delightfully tongue-in-cheek while having appropriate depth and detail.
GAMEPLAY
Explore the various locations, figuring out where to go next and what to do there. Your hand is NOT held. You'll have to fire some neurons. And there's no map, but each location's areas are limited. There are some notes and conversations to read, but you can click through them as fast as you can read. The hint button does NOT specifically direct you to exactly the next task, but merely shows you the location of the next available action. Nor will it transport you. (This is an original adventure game, not a cookie cutter HOPA.)
The puzzles begin on the easy side, but grow progressively more challenging. There are nine in the demo and several more after that. My personal favorites…
• A unique and innovative presentation of peg solitaire. The game board is trilateral rather than cross-shaped. You'd think the would make it easier, but we're not used to this format. The strategy is different.
• Match-3 to clear the board. No icons can remain, and the board is set up such that a particular series of moves in required.
• Move the colored crystals and the three nodes so that all nodes are lighted. (Note: I found out through trial and error that there appear to be an infinite number of each color of crystal. When I moved one, its twin remained in the original spot. Also, you can move the three nodes wherever you like. When a beam crosses a node, you'll have to activate it by clicking on the last token in the chain of refraction. If you click that token again, the beam will revert to refracting and the node will be deactivated.)
MECHANICS
There's a tasks list, but it does NOT pop up in banner form. You can click on it if you need it…or not. The journal narrates the story and notes helpful information. The inventory is accessed by clicking the backpack. You can leave it open, but I don't recommend it, since it does block areas of the screen with items and actions. A few reviewers noted that it's a click-and-drag inventory, which is incorrect. I had no trouble clicking to pick up the item, then clicking again to place it. Clicking and dragging works too, so you have a choice.
PRODUCTION
The graphics are not photorealistic, but they are well-drawn and thoughtfully detailed. The style reminds me a bit of the Drawn series. I had no difficulty identifying anything. The NPCs have distinctive personalities (even those that appear only briefly) and evince appropriate facial expressions, though they are not animated. The music is varied and extremely well-written, playing to the eerie mood of most of the game.
SHORT & SWEET CONCLUSION
The ONLY reason I didn't rate this game five stars is because of its length. The demo was actually longer than the part that came after it, at least for me. I took slightly less than two hours, reading all conversations and skipping no puzzles. However, first-person adventure games are my absolute favorite genre, and this lighthearted, humorous, and sometimes irreverent little gem has my recommendation. It beats the pants off the two allegedly "epic and thrilling" latest releases from the top devs that I just demo'd.

The story is grippingly fantastic. It doesn't quit. I love it.
Inventory is accessed by touching a little leather backpack in the corner. 1 touch opens the tray, a second touch closes it, very easy to use and unobtrusive. Thumbs up for the knapsack approach to less clutter on the screen.
I also like the uniform size and shape of message boxes. They are less of a headache than tight crampy scrawl at the bottom of the page.
It may be too easy a game for me, but the story is making up for that and it is still fun. So far the hidden objects have been easy to find, which is highly preferable to near impossible. Early on there was a shuffling multiple objects game to find torn up pieces of a pen-work map puzzle, which was neither too difficult nor too easy. I hope there will be more minigames, like it or otherwise. I will edit when I finish

For Grumpy Cat Monday we have a bright and colorful leftover dinner SE. We have a game reminiscent of those early games we played as children (Remember "Reader Rabbit?") It is cartoon-like, awkward to maneuver, and it is a quasi adventure game. This is a bare bones game. There is no interactive map making it annoying in collecting supplies and moving from location-to-location in the game. There are HOP-inventory lists but they are listed in a journal. You must collect an overwhelming amount items to add to your inventory. I did not discover many puzzles and the collection of inventory items became very tedious.
HERE ARE THE DETAILS FROM THE DEMO:
You are Olivia off to see Uncle Peter, a spaced out historian with some out-of-this world ideas concerning the history of Planet Earth. There you meet the stereotypical Hispanic maid, Isabella speaking with a ton of grammatical mistakes. Uncle Peter is trying to validate an earthshaking theory which would alter our views of history as we know it. Seemingly, our history is intertwined with a group of aliens - "Hyperboreans" . At your uncle's residence, you meet, Nick, "an internationally famous writer of best sellers" (LOL) which could be (pant, pant) the perfect "man" for you - at least your uncle hopes so. After all, you are both redheads. How amazing! After recreating a map which is over 600 years old and shows secret chambers under a local ancient church, you are off to help your uncle prove his theory of life on this planet.
GRAPHICS: Cartoon-like with no sound. You must read the script of the dialogue. Cartoon-like with plenty of orange and red. I guess BF's favorite color is now "reddish orange" since every other game blares with shades of red from the scenery to the hair color of the characters. Red and orange must now be the new "pink and purple" for BF.
INVENTORY: Hey - it is an SE - You really think you are going to have interactive inventory? Seriously? NO. You must also hold the mouse down to use the inventory.
HOP SCENES: There are lists of items to locate - they are in Olivia's journal.
PUZZLES:
A. Put pieces of a map together
B. Maze puzzle - opening a lock
I did was not able to locate any other puzzles in this game in the amount of time I played.
EXTRA GOODIES: Hey - this is an SE with NO VOICE OVERS. Are you really expecting any "dessert" with Monday's leftover dinner? Okay - in other words, no interactive map, no collectibles, no morphing objects, no voice.
COMMENTS: This game will appeal to those who like "old school" games. It is actually NOT A BAD GAME! Actually I really would like to make contact with the "Hyperboreans." LOL I have been spoiled by newer game technology. However, it is still a decent game for those whole love looking for hidden objects. Show less
