Apparently I had downloaded this game once before and only played a few minutes of it...not sure why, but I re-started the game and thoroughly enjoyed it.

A nice length with very good graphics and animations. Voice overs are good, but for those who get bothered by mouths not moving correctly it will drive you crazy! Storyline has been used before but works OK here and is enjoyable.

A nice length with very good graphics and animations. Voice overs are good, but for those who get bothered by mouths not moving correctly it will drive you crazy! Storyline has been used before but works OK here and is enjoyable.

Lots of puzzles some tedious other very quick to solve which made it fun. I skipped the tedious ones...don't have a lot of patience with puzzles. HOS were very interesting and enjoyable. Game moved along very smoothly. Transporter map is a must and is very good.

Different chapters in this game as the protagonist tries to get her daughter back and that made it interesting. I got this on a "deal", but would not feet upset if I had paid full price. Nice length for a SE and ended well. Honestly, I don't know what more the CE would have to offer. Show less

Despite what others have said and I do wonder if they were playing the same game as I was, I loved this game. It is different from the usual witch wants the girls body! The hop's were different and most of the mini games instead of the same old. This game is much better than most I have played recently. I don't play many games at all twice but I would this one.

This game is great for beginners and intermediate levels. However, for expert levels it is not that challenging. Having said that, I really liked the game. The story line is interesting and the graphics are good. I didn't find anything really outstanding about this game but would recommend it. It has it moments!

The one or two people that don't recommend this game must be confusing it with another because I as well as countless others love it.
In the last few years I have played hundreds of games and this one is by far one of the better ones! I look forward to playing it again. You'll see!

there is a custom level and an interactive map as well as a great hint system. you are collecting artifacts that were left from the house that was torn down to build a motel. at the open house of the motel the artifacts were given out and the owner kept the diary he had found of the witch. the people that got the artifacts were changed by them and they got mean and wicked. you had to bring them back by reminding them of their life. you collected each and throughout the game they helped you to do things as you needed them done. there is a magic crystal ball that puts you in the "evil" world and the "regular" world. you have to collect gems to get it to transfer you back and forth. in this one a mother and daughter is traveling and they stop off at this hotel to stay the night and the witch shows up and plans to take over the daughter's body so she can live forever. you have to stop her. i feel sure there will be another one. This game is one of those games that definitely gets better after the demo. It took me a while to warm up to the game but once I figure out what I was doing and got used to going back and forth in time, I started having a real ball! I loved the child like whimsical hidden object scenes, the relatively easy but fun mini games that even I could do! I love everything about this game.

I recommend this game!

The Silver Lake Inn seems like the perfect place to catch some shut eye after a long road trip. This newly remodeled Inn looks peaceful, but looks are always deceiving, throw in some eye of newt witchcraft and what you get is anything but peaceful! You barely have time to kick off your shoes when the wicked witch of the East, attacks your daughter Nancy, rendering her unconscious, what on earth is happening here? The Innkeeper isn't much help either, although he seems genuinely concerned, something about him is "off" so instead of calling for professional help, (guess that would be an awkward call) we're just going to snoop around the Inn's grounds, play a game of toss with the puppy and fix a few thousand broken gadgets until Nancy wakes up!

Just prior to the attack on Nancy, she finds a large hat box. This is anything but a normal hat box, this is a Magical Chest which stores magical artifacts. This box can defend it's owner from the negative energy generated by the magical artifacts within. (how'd that work out for Nancy)? Eventually this box will hold several artifacts, but for now there's just one, the Witch's ice bucket which can cool and freeze any liquid instantly. You can access your Dossier within the map, which is basically a journal that keeps track of your notes and clues you find as well as information about devices you come across. Some of the inventory items have plus signs, indicating that further action is required before you can use that item. The Collectors Edition has 40 Collectible Cats, Rabbits, and Postcards as well as a ton of Achievements to earn as well.

The Hidden Object Scenes are decent, but nothing to write home about. The HO's are mostly silhouetted shapes that you find in groups, such as astrological symbols, once the group has been found, they automatically get placed where they belong which usually exposes the next group of items you need to find. The Mini Games seem to be on the easy side, such as turning three small triangles until they align with the main triangle (turning one triangle affects others) or clicking on different colored stars in the correct color sequence, following the clue given, Mr. ROY G. BIV.

The Collectors Edition has Music Soundtracks, Arts, Achievements, Collectibles, Wallpapers, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter. In my personal opinion, the CE doesn't have enough features to persuade me, I think the Standard Edition has enough bang for my buck so to speak, enjoy! Show less

There is such a lot to do in this game. There are a huge - and I mean phenomenal - amount of mini-games and puzzles to conquer.

The graphics are very good - lots of colour and are crisp and clear to see and move around.

The sound and music are also good. Music just plays quietly in the background and I didn't really notice it that much.

The hidden object games are silhouette, straightforward and interactive. These are easy to do and I enjoyed them.

There were such a lot of mini-games and puzzles to do that it made my head spin. Some of these were putting gears in the right place, rearranging statue parts, doing puzzles and that's just the tip of the iceberg. I could go on all day. Most of them were easy to medium but a few made me stop and think which piqued my interest.

You also have a magic box and you accumulate certain items as you go which are inserted into the box. These are:

~ an ice bucket;
~ a hammer;
~ a candle;
~ a remote control; and
~ a watch.

You will use these items frequently to help you.

There is also a magic sphere which you use to travel between parallel worlds. You collect 3 gems and then travel into another parallel world, find items and undertake tasks that you need to do and then find another 3 gems there to come back.

So, do you get the Collectors Edition or Single Edition?

In the Collectors Edition there is an Achievements Room. You also have to find 40 cats, 16 rabbits and 16 postcards which are very easy to find. They are not really hidden and you just pick them up as you go. When you have found the 40 cats you can play a further mini-game. I personally think you will be happy with either version.

All up the game and bonus took me about 9 hours to do - ALL THOSE MINI-GAMES AND PUZZLES!!! So if you are up for a fairly lengthy challenge, then this is the game for you.
I enjoyed the game and believe family members or friends over the age of say 10-12 can play this. The witch is not scary and most of the mini-games and puzzles can be done without too much hand holding. And there is the Strategy Guide if you need help if you get the CE.

Mystery Tales is one of the better series out there. This is quite a long game, with excellent visuals and special effects. The HOS are quite creative, with many interactions. One outstanding example is unscrambling letter blocks to spell a word, then find these objects in the scene, find a new letter block and unscramble another word, find the objects it spells, until you have the object for your next action. Another HOS involves finding objects with billowy smoke outlines.

You have a magic box of magical items on the lower right corner that is periodically used in the scene to overcome obstacles. On the lower left corner is a crystal ball that requires 3 crystals, which must be found in the scenes around you. Once the ball is charged, it transports you to an alternate view of the current scene. You go back and forth between these worlds to free four people put under the spell of the witch to ultimately save your daughter.

Most mini games are easy, except for 2-3. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable game, fun to play, and exercise your sleuthing ability. Show less

I liked the game, though other Mystery Tales have captured me more. I loved the scenes. I prefer games like this where you play in scenes that are real life looking. Like the streets, the houses, the hotel ect.. I am not one for castles and weird worlds in the sky and the like.

The only beef I had with this game was how easy it was. There is very little challenge. The mini games were super easy and you could beat them in less than a minute usually. I did like the HOS, those were unique and had a few Id never seen before. Like collecting Alphabet blocks and rearranging the letters to spell out objects you would find in the HOS.
I do recommend this game, but be aware it is easy. Its also about a 4 hour game straight through. Show less
