I'm not too thrilled with the direction this adventure is heading, the original Secret Order was fantastic and had a really intriguing storyline. The next one added a baby griffin which made the game less credible in my opinion. This time they have given us Nubi, who is neither cute nor intimidating, and looks more like a mouse than a dog. To make matters worse, Nubi "learns" new skills, such as Fetch and then the power to control Lightning. Totally unnecessary, but other than giving him an outfit to begin with, at least I don't have to dress him up or give him a room with luxury items. There are 10 Eagle Masks, 10 Jaguar Masks and 10 Crocodile Masks hidden throughout the game and a bunch of Achievements to earn too.
The Hidden Object Scenes are list finds with several progressive interactions items to solve. There is an optional game of Mahjong available for those who have grown weary of Hidden Object Scenes. The HOS are well done but I thought the graphics could have been better within the scenes. There are a lot of Mini Games, none of which require in depth thinking, such as clearing a path to allow a necklace to be removed at the top of the board in a classic game of "Blocks"
This Collectors Edition has Soundtracks, Achievements, Collectible Masks, Game Art, replayable Mini Games, Wallpapers, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Show less

It's been such a long time since I've played a game with a unique storyline, I almost forgot how much fun a HOPA game could be!
I've always liked games with an Egyptian theme, and this one's definitely no exception. Add into the mix the bonus of time-travel, and you can hardly go wrong! The HOPs are the type that make you think, not just find objects but locating the one that is to be used on another item to either create or unlock another piece, to be used on yet another, and so on. My only complaint about the HOPs, they were so enjoyable, I wish there were more of them! But, that would take time away from riding your griffin, or figuring out how to defeat hyenas and a crocodile, or deciphering Egyptian co and that would be such a shame. PLUS: along the way you'll find a new pint-size helper... I won't ruin your surprise - suffice it to say, he's not only small, but just a baby, besides! But don't worry how much help a youngster can be -- besides being able to fit into tight spaces, this little guy has powers on his side! You need to decide which of his powers to use in just the right places... Just two are uncovered in the demo, but it appears he has an additional two yet to be discovered... Again I'll say it: Fun! (and funny, too)
So, if you have even the HINT of a desire to play a time-travelling, Egyptian-themed game, or are even slightly curious about one, definitely download this demo for a great way to spend 90 minutes. I only planned on playing about 45 min. of the demo initially, but time got away from me -- which I guess I should have expected, once I found myself repairing a time-travelling device...!
A definite buy!!! Show less

The game starts off with a short recap of the previous games in the series and although it isn’t necessary to play the prior games, I would recommend that you do so if for no other reason than that they were very good. You would also benefit from learning a bit more about the Secret Order and it would bring you nicely into the current game. In Beyond Time Sarah Pennington is on a quest to return to her own time after being stranded in the past. Sarah is in for a journey that will take her from ancient Egypt to Mexico and the time of the conquistadores, all while trying to elude the feared Dragon Clan. Accompany Sarah and her new found friend Nubi as you discover what they now have in store during their epic journey home.
The graphics were truly a mixed bag with some of them being extremely clear and others being gritty, grainy and misty in appearance. Although some scenes have that grainy, overblown appearance the ones that are clear have such beautiful and intense coloring showing the beauty of the areas Sarah visits in the game. There are lip-synced voiceovers that are quite good but this is another game where the sound volume for the voices is a bit too quiet even when at the highest setting.
We have the normal tools including a diary that contains a section for your objectives and another for your notes that will help you as you progress on your adventure. The map is a transporter type map that shows your objectives and areas where there are tasks available. For some reason this developer still seems to think that we require a pet helper in their games and this time we find Nubi who has multiple powers than can be used to assist you during the adventure.
The HOPS are consistent with those normally found in most HOPA games today. There is a variety of interactive types and some took a bit of time to figure out how to find the initial thing that started the ball rolling. Where The Secret Order Beyond Time becomes quite excellent is in the puzzles that are actually a step up from some of the easier puzzles that many developers include in their games. Some of the puzzles are fairly easy but they still are different and very good.
There are achievements that are earned as you progress through the game and collectible objects to be found. We also have the normal obligatory CE content but nothing earthshaking.
Even with the less than perfect graphics the gameplay in The Secret Order Beyond Time is excellent and kept me on my toes. I like it when I encounter a game where I have to think instead of simply move through the adventure on auto-pilot, so now it is time to go hit the buy button and put on my thinking cap for a few hours of fun. As always, I recommend that you at least try the demo to see if this is a game you will like. Show less

It is a very colourful game, the music is ok but at one point it became so annoying whilst I was playing either a HOP or a mini game I turned it down for about 15 minutes.
Levels: Casual, Advanced and Expert.
Length: 6 chapters and the Bonus Game.
Voices: Some are good and clear but others not so much.
Inventory: Lockable
Map: You have to find it, it’s a jump map which shows where you are and if there are any active tasks in that area.
Achievements: 28. There is a room for these which includes the collectibles too, and it can be accessed at the top right hand side of the screen.
Collectibles: 30 skulls wearing jester hats! Although none of these resemble the animal they are portraying Eagles, Jaguars and Crocodiles.
HOS: The first one had only 4 items to collect which surprised me but as they are interactive there are several things to do before you can retrieve it. Then came a few which were lists with some interactive element, and after that quite a few of them were of no help at all as the game said “interact with the objects in the scene” . Oh well it keeps the brain cells working. Mahjong can be played instead.
Mini Games/Puzzles: Some I’ve not seen before and others variations of game I have seen before. I enjoyed them and they ranged from easy up to hard, but all do-able.
Helper - Nubi he is not obtrusive as he doesn’t make a single noise, nor does he want you to buy anything for him, but he does get given certain powers during the game which help you carry out the tasks. Just make sure you take a look at his expression when he first appears, it made me laugh out loud! Show less

This is an excellent game in an excellent series. You are again Sarah Pennington, a member of the Secret Order who fights against the Dragon Clan. There is a short summary in the beginning, if you haven't played the previous games.
You are stuck in the past in Aeronhart with a broken time machine after your last adventure, and you just want to go home. Your flying eagle is also back. You find a chest your father discovered and decide to put it back in the tomb with a message to him to rescue you when he finds the chest. It seems to work.........except the bad guy "rescues" you instead of dad and sends you into an unknown dimension inhabited by a pirate in an airship, Phew! The demo was 80 minutes long and covered a LOT of ground!
So far, this is a nice calm story that really makes you think. The HOS are mainly "find an item, then use the item to find the next item." It requires a bit of thought to figure out which item is the starter item. You could also play mahjongg instead. I really enjoyed the mini-games as well. Normally, I don't have the patience, but I played every one without skipping! I really enjoyed threading the pulley, and putting the Eye back together.
You play a mini-game story book about Cleopatra, her pet anubis Nubi, and her friend Omar who has a portal that saves Nubi from the Romans and brings him to you as your helper. He starts out with the "fetch" help, then earns "lightning" plus two others. A bit different play on the helper idea.
There are 3 modes of play, 12 hint/skip achievements and 16 game-based activity achievements. There are also 10 eagle masks, 10 jaguar masks, and 10 crocodile masks to collect. You can see your collection and achievements by selecting a pull-down "Home" at the top of the screen.
This story is so interesting, with portals and time travel. I can't wait to see if Sarah gets home! Show less

Trapped in the past in her attempt to recover dangerous artifacts from the Dragon Clan, Sarah Pennington is desperately trying to return to the present. The storyline is a bizarre mishmash of Egyptian deities residing in a fairy tale kingdom in the past. This is a PUZZLE-INTENSE GAME. The puzzles are varied in difficulty and well-done ; there is good variety of themes used in the puzzle-like HOP scenes; the graphics are vastly improved. However, it LACKS THE ABILITY TO CUSTOMIZE THE GAME AND DOES NOT HAVE AN INTERACTIVE INVENTORY. You are escorted through the game with a gimmicky helper, "Nubi" (nicknamed after Anubis) with four abilities. It seemed to me that at the times Nubi was used - it took him forever to perform his actions. I LOVE THE PUZZLES. I would purchase this game if the helper was eliminated.
THUMB'S UP:
The puzzles and puzzle-like HOP scenes
The graphics
Mah Jongg which is theme-based. I actually liked playing this game - seemed to fit into the Egyptian theme
"Nubi " (if you like helpers) has a little pizzazz with four abilities and is not used as much as in other "helper" games
THUMB 'S DOWN:
Storyline - Beyond bizarre
Lack of many extras we expect in a CE such as morphing objects, customization, and interactive inventory
"Nubi" (If you dislike helpers - he slows down the game by taking forever to perform his activities)
Slow pace of the game
HERE ARE THE DETAILS OF THE DEMO:
You play Sarah Pennington, trying to return home to her own time period. Her time machine was cast into the ocean and cannot be repaired. You, as Sarah will attempt to contact your father in the future to save you; however, trying to contact your father is going to be more difficult than you think. You may become permanently in time and space.
CHAPTERS - 6 plus the Bonus Chapter
LEVELS: Three and NO CUSTOMIZATION
Casual - Sparkles No penalties for misclicks
Advanced Sparkles Some penalties for misclicks
Expert No sparkles Penalties for misclicks and no indications of activities on map
GRAPHICS: Realistic and very well done. They are vastly improved from the previous games by this dev. The voiceovers were "British" and decent.
INVENTORY: Standard inventory collection. No interactivity nor puzzle-like
HOP SCENES: They are varied. In the demo I found puzzle-like scenes which require interaction and are theme-based. They also vary in difficulty and variety of style. You may play Mah Jongg in some scenes instead of playing the HOP scene
PUZZLES: . The puzzles are well-crafted and vary in difficulty. There are variations of slider puzzles, directing light using mirrors,, creating paths without retracing your steps, replacing symbols into their proper locations, and some jigsaw like puzzles, storybook interaction.
EXTRA GOODIES:
A. 24 Achievements - an award for caring for Nubi - a wing for activating the hint system.
B. Collect 12 eagle masks, 12 jaguar masks, and 12 crocodile masks A sign alerts you if there is one available in the scene in which you are in.
B. Map is provided after you open a chest
C. Wallpaper, Music, Artwork, Bonus Game
D. "Nubi" (Nickname for Anubis). In time "Nubi" will acquire four functions - Fetch, Create lightning, and two others not disclosed in the demo.
E. . A Strategy guide
F. 5 "Medals" indicating something activated after completing the game
In your next game in this series, dev, please look at the possibility of providing an "opt out" for helpers for those of us who do not like interacting with them in your games.
