You have gorgeous hair, it's mine now, and your wife has such beautiful eye color, I think I'll have those as well! Somebody is robbing the wealthy nobles (because it's easier than finding poor nobles) of their custom made jewelry. The thief doesn't stop there, he then robs that person of their body parts, eyes, hair, and who knows what else! How can you stop a man that can change his features instantly? This is yet another brilliant European Mystery, centered around the streets of Rome, Italy, where a very good friend of yours has asked you to come out of retirement and join him in this investigation. You will rescue a circus ermine from a tiny cage and once you give him a proper name, he will help you out during the game with such tasks as retrieving items that you can't get to. The local jeweler has become one of the suspects victims so you borrow his latest invention, a box that charges crystals and converts a blueprint into an actual 3d object. First you need to charge the crystal with a light source. Once you find a blueprint and all of the ingredients needed for a particular item, you open up your jewelry box and "paint" the blueprint with gold, silver, emerald, sapphire, copper and other elements and then create the item with the charged crystal. The hidden object games are very interactive list finds that may require you to find a magic wand and use that wand on a top hat and a rabbit pops up with a banana which you give to a baboon in exchange for a mallet. The mini games are entertaining, not new, but still classic games. My favorite game was a board with several tiles that have either a number 2, 3 or 4 on them. You have to move each tile the exact number of moves as indicated, without blocking another tiles move. The game itself is professionally produced with stunning graphics and so much to do in each scene that you cannot possibly get bored. I think this Standard Edition is a really good value, especially if you don't care about the frills that come with the Collectors Edition, enjoy! Show less

This game has a beautiful soundtrack, with voilin and paino music in the background, excellent narration and voice overs. The visuals are beautiful: clean, crisp, clear and very well illustrated.

There are collectibles throughout including pieces of a plate and mosaic pieces, all to be used in the storyline.

Hidden objects scenes are the list type; some of them interactive in the sense that you have to create each object before it is considered found: for example, sculpting a dragon from a piece of wood, building a totem, and painting a mask. In others you are asked to find a certain number of a particular object.

Mini puzzles were fun and some were very challenging. They are a lot different than the usual mini puzzles in hidden object games.

Tools to help you include a notebook, the hint button, a jewel box to create items from other items you have found, a crystal cube to gather light to assist you in using the jewel box to make blueprints, and my personal favorite, a little animal helper, in this case a small ermine I named "Minty".

This SE has a lot of bang for the buck. It will keep you very busy as you try to catch the thief. Show less

This is beautiful game set in 17th century Rome. I loved that the game was bright and sunny with real life like items and locations. So tired of all the grimy, dark, bug infested scary games, or all the purpley pink fantasy game. Love those games but they seem to be the majority so it's nice to have a break and play/live in gorgeous reality for a while.
I loved the box where you collect minerals, or gems in order to paint pictures that then become 3 dimensional items to use in the game.
I played this game non stop except for dinner and potty breaks, that's how much I was enjoying it.!!
The only downside was there were a lot of different locations so I had to use the hint quite a bit towards the end to point me in the right directions but that's no biggie for me. This is well worth full price that's how good it is!! Yes I highly recommend this game! Show less

Loved the voice overs in this. There is a nun character in the game and her voice over is about the best one Ive heard in a game. They all did very well with this.
Loved all of the puzzles and the HOS.

The scenes were beautiful as what you always come to expect in the European Mystery games.
I love, love, love the music as well.

Every game in this series should be owned.

In this game, you play a retired detective called in to investigate a series of attacks and robberies against wealthy people in a European town. It was because of your success in the first European Mystery - Scent of Desire, that you are being consulted again. In this game, you play a retired detective called in to investigate a series of attacks and robberies against wealthy people in a European town. It was because of your success in the first European Mystery - Scent of Desire, that you are being consulted again. The villain here seems to have some supernatural power which enables him to alter his appearance using the stolen items.

The time and place are not stated; however it seems to be set in the 18th century (that's the 1700's). The drawing style is semi-realistic, and it is well rendered, but not especially distinctive. That is a nice way of saying that it looks like a lot of other games.

The hidden object scenes are mostly straightforward. However, during the trial period there is one scene where each object in the list requires an additional action to collect. There are many short mini-games which act as locks. These are well designed to fit into each scene, which is nice, but stripping that away they are mostly the standard types.

What is not standard is your kit - you use a charged crystal and other materials (i.e. gold and silver) to create special jewelery objects. You must be aware of what you need and use items from your inventory to add to the kit. This is a good idea as it can increase the experience of participation and immersion in the story.

In the CE version there the usual achievements for skillful play. There are also 35 masks to collect. The masks seem to be fairly well hidden, or at least they don't jump right out at you.

This is a solid game with a few twists and is a good follow up to the first in the series, but it's not going to make other developers green with Envy. Show less

The game does offer a lot: transporting map, good hint system, decent mini games, OK HOS. The gem machine was a nice touch and the ermine helpful was adorable.
On one thing that quite irked me was that the voice overs were atrocious. The first couple of times it was amusing as the words had been spoken but the mouth was still moving.

At times it was a little difficult to determine what to do as the things you were able to interact with were not clear and the response to the cursor movement was at times slow. Voice overs started good, but slowly declined in quality as what was being said didn't line up with mouth movements. The ermine pet was a cute touch. Show less
