This murder mystery scenario went a little too far when the host himself ends up dead, Dead Reckoning style! This murder mystery scenario went a little too far when the host himself ends up dead, Dead Reckoning style! Who's responsible for Reginald Greer's demise, his spoiled daughter, a son with daddy issues, one of the guests, or maybe even the butler. Did he use a candlestick in the dining room, or a rope in the kitchen, wrong game, my apologies. Time to dust off your Detective's badge and get to work in this Who-dun-it mystery.
First things first, examine the victim using your trusty Detective's Kit. Clues are given as to the correct item needed to get the job done, and then you use those items to do a thorough examination. Your Evidence Board will contain all the information and evidence you collect during your investigation including bios on each suspect you interrogate. Once again you will have to determine if the suspects are being truthful, trying to deduce whether or not they are lying, using your Deduction Dialog feature. Some of the inventory items will have Plus signs indicating further action is required before using such as combining that item with another inventory item or solving a small puzzle. There are 42 Collectible Tarocchi Cards hidden throughout the game as well.
The Hidden Object Scenes are are mostly interactive list finds with the final item described in a riddle form, but there are Silhouetted shapes combined such as a horn plus a horse to represent a unicorn. Each HOS has a Morphing Object, and there is an alternative Bubble Shoot Game available. The Mini Games are decent, some simple puzzles to assemble, others more complex. My favorite one was dragging various lengths of colored tiles around on a grid until they were in the position shown in the clue given.
This Collectors Edition has Movies, Music, Wallpapers, Making of, Bubble Shoot games, replayable HOP and Mini Games, 42 Hidden Tarocchi Cards, 15 Morphing Objects, a Souvenir Room, Achievements, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Show less

Inventory: Lockable
Map: It’s a jump map and clearly shows where you are using a little blue flag, Active Objectives with a green exclamation mark and a red cog shows the Active Tasks.
HOPS: The usual from these devs, lists, silhouettes, pictures and interactive. You can play a Bubble Popper instead if you want to.
Puzzles/Mini Games: So far they have been variations of ones we’ve seen before and relatively simple to complete. However I am now completely stuck on one so I might ask for help in the forums.
Achievements: 15 of them

The review pretty much describes the premise. You are the detective who is called to unravel the intrigue and player interactions of the people who are there to play the mystery game. The setting is for a weekend mystery game hosted by a wealthy businessman. When you get there he is dead and has left a note stating that if you are reading the note then is dead. He tasks you with fiinding out who murdered him. The characters are complex and interesting.
There are the obligatory CE perks. The puzzles are fun but not too challenging. The HO are about the same with a few twists. The graphics are well done and the VO are great. The acting is strong.
I have been waiting anxiously for this game to come out and it is definitly a buy for me. Show less

The night of a Mystery party the host turns up dead.

Graphics are great especially for anyone who is a lover of the art deco era which I am.
Voice overs well done.
HOS are varied and some refreshingly different.
Puzzles range from easy to challenging
Music is a bit of a disappointment considering this is the era of the great jazz bands.
There is a interactive map but doing and froing is minimal considering some other games.
There are taro cards and masks to collect as well as morphing items
Once again it is nice to have a game with no monster, ghouls, or the occult.
A great game for all you Miss Marple or Hercule Poroit wannabe's

Wealthy investor Reginald Greer is famous for his murder mystery dinner parties but he never imagined that this would turn out to be his last. After your great success with solving the case last year at Silvermoon Isle, you have been called to Brassfield Manor to investigate the high-profile murder of Reginald. Who did it? You certainly have a plethora of suspects, who it turns out might like Reginald’s parties more than they do the man himself.
The game has everything we have come to expect from this developer – great quality graphics, lip-synced voiceovers, and an overall excellent sound package. I always appreciate the true custom settings option that this developer includes among its game modes since I appreciate being able to set my own hint and skip times rather than have the developer decide what they should be.
Your tools include the interactive, transporter type map and your evidence board that will open once you have suspects. If you are familiar with the first game in the series, Silvermoon Isle, you will have a good idea how the evidence board works, and if not, it is not difficult to figure out. One of the drawbacks with games from this developer is that there is rarely a journal included for progress notes and I miss it. I know that notes and important pieces of information are catalogued in those re-playable screen shot videos or as “snippets” but I happen to like the old style journal.
Brassfield Manor has the various types of interactive HOPs that this developer always includes in their games, and if you don’t want to search for items you have the option of switching to a bubble-shooter type of game – just be sure to keep your eyes open and search for the morphing items that are included in some of them. The puzzles that we find in Brassfield Manor are also much the same as the ones in every other game by this developer and, unless you are new to the genre, I am sure you have seen them before. Some puzzles are simple while others might require a bit more thought but they are doable.
As you roam around the various scenes in the game you can collect Tarocchi Cards and masks. While most of the cards are fairly obvious and can easily be found some do take a bit more searching to spot. I happen to be a sucker when it comes to collectibles and morphing objects so I most often go for the CE games, and this developer generally includes some very nice extras in their games. If you are new to the HOPA genre, then I always recommend the CE version of a game as it includes the in-game strategy guide that can at times be helpful.
Dead Reckoning Brassfield Manor is a very good game that looks like it will be as good as or possibly better than Silvermoon Isle. I Although I find most games in the HOPA genre enjoyable, it is refreshing to see that we are getting more of the real-life mystery type games rather than constantly encountering witches, warlocks, time portals and princesses or family members in distress. I certainly enjoy the departure and hope to see more games that follow this new trend. For me Brassfield Manor was an instant buy but, as always, I recommend that you at least try the demo to see if this is a game you will like. Show less

What fun and an automatic purchase for me! Based on the game of "Clue, " we're off to a 1930's murder mystery party (I love these -so much fun!) with the Master Gamers (AKA- the PixIES). This is a game well worth the price of a CE. So beautiful, so well-crafted with an exciting story keeping the gamer involved, with well crafted, varied, and theme-related HOP scenes, puzzles, and inventory. What makes this a great game is the amount of variety in creation of both the puzzles and HOP scenes.
In this "case" it is a double entendre as your murder mystery involves the host who is not only supposed to play the victim, but actually becomes the victim. As usual, this is a "must have" game for me with a captivating storyline (so well written), beautiful realistic graphics, inventory, HOP scenes and puzzles - all exquisitely done and unique.
HERE ARE THE DETAILS FROM A LENGTHY DEMO: (AND SO APPRECIATED MY FAVORITE DEV!)
We return to the 1930's - this time to Wall Street tycoons and a ticker tape parade which leads to murder most foul! You play a renown detective who investigates the case of a wealthy investment banker, Reginald Greer. He is poisoned and there are six suspects - his son Mortimer (how major was the jealousy issue with his fair-haired sister which may have caused him to poison his father?), his daughter, Penelope, (a spoiled princess who is apple of her father's eye but could she be an "angel of death" fallen from grace and so up to her eyeballs in debt that she would murder her father for money?), a mentalist (what dark future did he foresee for Greer and did he help it along?), a business associate Thomas Darvis (is all fair in love and war in business ? - or is he trying to keep his partner in the dark about the shaky financial mess of the business?), a lover?, Gabriella Burns (what was the relationship between these two and could she have a motive for murdering him?) and a journalist (did she dig up just a tad too much dirt?) Was the tycoon Greer in some financial trouble and how would this lead to his death?
LEVELS: Four
P.I. (Sparkles)
DETECTIVE (Sparkles)
INSPECTOR (No sparkles)
Customized.
Hints recharge from 10 to 120 seconds
Skips recharge from 10 to 400 seconds
GRAPHICS: Movie quality realistic characters as usual for this dev. Well-done with muted tones worthy of a work of art. Beautiful art-deco recreations. So masterful, dev! The voiceovers are magnificent.
INVENTORY: Interactive and puzzle-like. They have more interest puzzles in their inventory than most devs have in their whole game.
HOP SCENE: So innovative and puzzle-like . They create HOP scenes within HOP scenes. And even when others copy them (remember - imitation is the sincerest form of compliment LOL) they always create some new methods to present the HOP scenes. You may play a bubble-shooter games instead of the HOP scene. ACTUALLY I WANT TO PLAY BOTH! AT THE SAME TIME ! LOL
In the demo I encountered from first to last in the demo:
A. Junk pile search for items, followed by a cryptic clue to locate the inventory item
B. Your own" lie detector kit" which asks you to find items on the victim to verify if statements are true or false. AWESOME!
C. As you collect evidence, use a detective kit search for items using cryptic clues
D. Silhouette of items in an aquarium. Also involved is A NEW TYPE OF HOP SCENE - REBUS TYPE - YOU MUST COMBINE CLUES TO LOCATE AN ITEM. SO AWESOME DEVS! THIS DEV NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME You may play a bubble shooter instead.
E. Search a wardrobe for a number of a specific item. When finished opens up drawer for a list of items to locate in the scene
F. Matching clay pots for plants with a image on the front with an item matching it in the HOP scene
PUZZLES: All well crafted and innovative. It is evident they spend a considerable amount of time searching for new approaches to standard puzzles:
In the demo I encountered from, first to last in the demo:
A. Based on the game "Clue," in a variation of a "train track" puzzles - move game pieces to their proper locations on the board. SO INNOVATIVE!
B. Black Jack based game - must get 21 on four rows vertically and horizontally
C. Gate puzzle. Move beads to proper location in a maze to open a gate.
D. Matching plants with seed packets
E. A series of tiles which must be turned by clicking to create a picture. Only one sequence works
EXTRA GOODIES:
A. Collect 42 masks
B. "Find" the map as the game begins. You do not have to play a game to get it. Why not just provide it at the beginning dev?
C. Receive a "box" to keep evidence on six suspects
D. 15 Achievements
E. 15 Morphing objects
F. After finishing game you get all kinds of extras - bubble-shooter, movies, music, wallpaper, souvenirs
EXTRA COMMENTS: A BIG THANK YOU TO BF FOR AN AMAZING GAME ON THURSDAY! I WILL HAVE A MURDER PARTY WEEKEND AFTER ALL! WOW! That is all I can say about this dev! I keep repeating myself; however, they are the master craftsmen of gaming and I am changing my nickname for them to Master Gamers! It is obvious they are not just mass producing games. They spend time in creating beautiful masterpieces. This is the highest compliment I can give them. Devs - you never ever have a "bad hair" day. Now how is that possible? LOL
I RATE THIS GAME 7 INVESTMENT BANKERS OUT OF 5 INVESTMENT BANKERS. THE EXTRA TWO BANKERS WILL HOPEFULLY BANK ROLL THIS DEV TO CONTINUE THEIR WORK IN CREATING MAGNIFICENT GAMES AND ALSO YOUR OWN GAMING HABITS!

You have your trusty Detective Kit that makes ink visible, detects poison and analyzes stuff for you. You get to query each suspect and decide if they are lying or telling the truth. You have Reginald's Mystery Box that gives you a game clue each time you find a special token. The hint button teleports you, and of course there is a map with activities marked as well. There are so many clues, my head is buzzing!
Each HOS has a morphing object, plus there is a Tarocchi - ??? - card hidden in each scene. The HOS are multi-faceted, plus you can play a bubble shooter instead. The mini-games are a bit hard -- I need much more patience to solve them!
The CE bling also includes a Making Of video, and a Souvenir Room - two of my favorites - plus something called a Mask Collector that all open after you play the Bonus Game.
This is a long demo, but really gives you a feel for the game and the game play. As you can tell, I am a fan, and off to buy! Show less

It is a widespread belief that with great excess of wealth come a plethora of oddities. Therefore it doesn’t come as a surprise that the business magnate Reginald Greer had a few eccentricities of his own. One of those, admittedly mild peculiarities was the annual “murder party” the occasion at which all the guests are required to play the roles of suspects and sleuths at the same time, as they follow the clues to solve the staged murder case.
What came as a shock to everyone was the fact that supposedly staged murder turned out to be real. Reginald Greer has been found poisoned in the same way as described in the game scenario. The shocked guests are forced to stay within the premises as you, the experienced detective, arrive to solve the bizarre case. Was it the daughter Penelope, Lafarge the spiritualist, Mortimer business partner, Darvis the son, or Rickman the butler. Is it none of them? You won't be able to stop playing until you discover the truth...
Opinion : Liked the game a lot, no Tech difficulties, voiceovers were clear with lip sync., colours were bright, graphics suited the game theme. Liked how you questioned possible suspects...something new here and it was fun....again won't give too much away. Always a good idea to check out Achievements and Extras Tabs before starting games these days if you like to know all the Achievements and Morph/Collectibles.

The switch ups on the HO's were very good and if you can't stand them for some reason then they have a marble popper game you can switch over.
Nice jump map and lots of stuff to do. Game had morphing objects in the HO's, Collectable cards, a kit, Items that had to be put together in tool bar for use, and little bits of critter action, and great characters. Some little twist and turns in this game. I LIKE IT.
This game should go into running for game of the year. Show less
