General Tips
- This is the official guide for Halloween Stories: Black Book.
- This guide won't tell you when to zoom into a location; the screenshots show each zoom scene.
- Hidden-object puzzles are referred to as HOPs. Only the locations of the HOPs will be shown.
- Use the Map to fast travel to a location.
Chapter 1: Living Room
- Talk (A).
- Take BLACK BOOK (B).
- Give BLACK BOOK (A). Play HOP.
- Select scene.
- Take RULER, PAPER PIECES 1/3-2/3, COIN, WITCH SYMBOL, and LIGHT BULB (C).
- Use RULER and select. Open door; take BROKEN FLASHLIGHT (D).
- Pull curtain (E).
- Place WITCH SYMBOL; take PUMPKIN (F).
- Place PUMPKIN (G); receive KNIFE.
- Use COIN (H); take BATTERY (I).
- Open BROKEN FLASHLIGHT and insert BATTERY; place LIGHT BULB and push button; take FLASHLIGHT.
- Use FLASHLIGHT (J). Play HOP; receive PAINTS.
- Scroll up (K). Use KNIFE; take MONSTER PART 1/2 and BRUSH (L).
- Open vignette and then Black Book (M); select page in vignette (N). Place PAINTS and BRUSH (O).
- Solution (P).
- Take SKULL SYMBOL.
- Place SKULL SYMBOL; take PAPER PIECES 3/3 (Q).
- Place PAPER PIECES 3/3 (R) and select; receive CODE WORD.
- Place CODE WORD; select REDRUM (S). Play HOP.
- Take STAPLE REMOVER, BATS 1/4, SCISSORS, NUMBER 11, CARDBOARD BOX, HANDLE, MONSTER PART, and FEAR MASK (T).
- STAPLE REMOVER on CARBOARD BOX. Play HOP; receive PAIN MASK.
- Place FEAR MASK and PAIN MASK (U).
- Solution is random. Lead the ball (V) to the center by selecting the board once the grey part of the ring is available to you. The rings won't align all at once as shown in the screenshot; you can only do one section at a time.
- Take MONSTER PART 2/2.
- Walk down.
- Place MONSTER PART 2/2 and MONSTER PART (W). Take PICTURE PIECE (X).
- Place HANDLE and select door; take PICTURE PIECE (Y).
- Go (Z).
- Place two PICTURE PIECES (A).
- Solution (B).
- Take OFFICE KEY.
- Use OFFICE KEY (C).
- Go (D).
- Select mirror (E).
- Take SCRAPER, BATS 2/4, BROOMS SYMBOL, and TOY PUMPKIN (F).
- Select table; take TRIANGLE BUTTON and SHARPENING STONE (G).
- Walk down.
- Place TRIANGLE BUTTON; take PUMPKIN STEM (H).
- Use SCRAPER and place BROOMS SYMBOL (I).
- Solution @1: (L-U-R-U-R-D-L).
- Take BATS 3/4.
- Go to Living Room.
- PUMPKIN STEM on TOY PUMPKIN; take BATS 4/4.
- Place BATS 4/4; take SPIDER SYMBOL and CLOCK HANDS (J).
- Place NUMBER 11 and CLOCK HANDS (K); take METAL BUTTERFLY (L).
- Walk down.
- Place SPIDER SYMBOL; take METAL FLOWER (M).
- Walk down.
- Place METAL FLOWER and METAL BUTTERFLY; take EXPULSION AMULET (N).
- Go to Living Room.
- Open vignette and select Black Book (O) and then the page (P). Use EXPULSION AMULET (Q).
- Play HOP: take STAR KEY (R).
- Use STAR KEY (S).
- Go (T).
- Select scene.
- Take LEATHER BAG (U); select lawn mower (V).
- Take RED CANDLE, MOON BUTTON, and KITCHEN SYMBOL (W).
- Walk down twice.
- MOON BUTTON on LEATHER BAG; take BLACK CANDLE.
- Place BLACK CANDLE and RED CANDLE (X). Play HOP; receive DIAMOND RING.
- Go to Living Room.
- Use DIAMOND RING and pull handle (Y).
- Enter (Z).
- Select scene.
- Select water (A); take SCISSORS HALF (B).
- Take OIL and LOCK PART (C).
- Go to Yard.
- SCISSORS HALF and SHARPENING STONE on SCISSORS; take SHARP SCISSORS.
- Use SHARP SCISSORS (D). Play HOP; receive STARS BUTTON.
- Use OIL and select; take CROWBAR and KITCHEN SYMBOL (E).
- Use CROWBAR; take LOCK PART (F).
- Go to Kitchen.
- Place two KITCHEN SYMBOLS (G).
- Solution (H): B-Ax3-B.
- Take MAGNET.
- Go to Yard.
- Use MAGNET (I); take TONGS (J).
- Go to Kitchen.
- STARS BUTTON on LEATHER BAG; take OVEN KNOB.
- Place OVEN KNOB (K). Open door and use TONGS (L); receive HOT HELMET.
- Dip HOT HELMET (M); receive HORNED HELMET.
- Walk down 3x.
- Place HORNED HELMET (N); take LOCK PART (O).
- Return to Yard.
- Examine; open Black Book (P) and select page (Q). Place three LOCK PARTS (R).
- Solution one (S).
- Solution two (T).
- Enter Basement.
- Select panel; use SHARP SCISSORS (U). Take LEVER (V).
- Walk down.
- Place LEVER (W); take GHOST TILE and CAT SYMBOL (X).
- Go to Kitchen.
- Place GHOST TILE; take CAT SYMBOL (Y1).
- Walk down.
- Place two CAT SYMBOLS; take SWITCH (Y2).
- Go to Basement.
- Place SWITCH (Z1).
- Play HOP (Z2).
Chapter 2: Mansion
- Select scene.
- Open door; select three books and play puzzle (A).
- Solution (B).
- Select vignette; take SCRAPER (C).
- Select wood (D); take BROKEN TOY MOUSE (E).
- Take WHEELS 1/2, CORKSCREW, PICKAXE, STONE BUTTERFLIES 1/3, and BRANCH (F).
- Use PICKAXE; take LOCK PIECE (G).
- Use BRANCH (H); receive WINDUP KEY.
- Use SCRAPER; take WHEELS 2/2 (I).
- WINDUP KEY and WHEELS 2/2 on BROKEN TOY MOUSE; select key and take TOY MOUSE.
- Use TOY MOUSE (J); take GLOVE (K).
- Use GLOVE (L); open the gate. Play HOP; receive ROPE.
- Place LOCK PIECE (M).
- Solution (1-5-2-3-5-2-2-3)-(5-4-3-5-2-2-3-5). Take OAR.
- Use ROPE and OAR (N).
- Take WOOD PIECE, SCOOP, BROKEN BOAT HOOK, TRUNK BUTTON, RAVEN SYMBOL, and HAMMER (O).
- Place TRUNK BUTTON; take DUCT TAPE (P).
- Walk down.
- Use HAMMER and select; take METAL ANGEL and FILE (Q).
- Place RAVEN SYMBOL (R); take MONOGRAM (S).
- WOOD PIECE and DUCT TAPE on BROKEN BOAT HOOK; take BOAT HOOK.
- Use BOAT HOOK (T). Open crate (U) and play HOP; receive METAL ANGEL.
- Go (V).
- Place MONOGRAM (W).
- Solution (1-8).
- Take METAL ANGEL.
- Place three METAL ANGELS (X). Play HOP; receive LADDER.
- Place LADDER (Y).
- Go (Z).
- Select scene.
- Solution one (A).
- Solution two (B).
- Take STONE BUTTERFLIES 2/3, BRIEFCASE, METAL BOX, LINE AND HOOK, METAL PIECES 1/2, GEAR, and METAL SKULL (C).
- Use LINE AND HOOK (D); receive SPRING.
- Use FILE (E); receive CANDLESTICK.
- Use CANDLESTICK; take STONE BUTTERFLIES 3/3 (F).
- Walk down.
- Place STONE BUTTERFLIES 3/3; receive METAL PIECES 2/2 (G).
- Go (H).
- Place METAL PIECES 2/2 (I).
- Solution (@1): (B-Cx4-A-Cx3-E-C-Bx2)-(C-A-Cx2-Dx2-Cx3-Ax2)-(Cx3-Ex2-Cx4-Bx2-Cx3-Dx2)-(E-C-A-Cx2-D-C-E).
- Take PAPER.
- Walk down twice.
- Place GEAR and SPRING; take HEX KEY (J).
- Go (K).
- Use HEX KEY; take WIRE CUTTERS and AWL (L).
- Go (M).
- Use PAPER (N) and AWL (O). Take key (N) and use it on lock (O).
- Go (P).
- Take WHITE KEY, BRIEFCASE BUTTON, METAL SKULL, and STONE SHELLS 1/2-2/2 (Q).
- Select floor; take METAL SKULL (R).
- Walk down.
- BRIEFCASE BUTTON on BRIEFCASE and select; take WARDROBE KNOB.
- Place WARDROBE KNOB and select (S). Play HOP; receive CODE.
- Three METAL SKULLS and CODE on METAL BOX. Select (T-Ux4-V-Wx2).
- Take TOWER (X).
- Walk down.
- Place STONE SHELLS 2/2 (Y); take PEACOCK (Y1).
- Go (Z).
- Place TOWER and PEACOCK; take PENDULUM (A).
- Go (B).
- Use PENDULUM on dog. Use WIRE CUTTERS; take OWL AMULET (C).
- Place OWL AMULET (D).
- Go (E).
- Take ROSE SYMBOLS 1/3, BLACK KEY, PAPER CLIP, OVAL PORTRAIT, and SQUARE PORTRAIT (F).
- Walk down twice.
- Place WHITE KEY and BLACK KEY. Solution (@2)(E-A-D-F-G-B-F)-(F-E-C-D-B-H-D).
- Take WOODEN PIECE 1/2.
- Go (I).
- Place SQUARE PORTRAIT and OVAL PORTRAIT; take WOODEN PIECE 2/2 (J).
- Place WOODEN PIECE 2/2 (K).
- Solution (5-6-3-3-3-3)-(2-2-2-5-4-5-4-6)-(3-3-6-3-3-6-2-2-2-6-1).
- (5-4-4-5-3-6-2)-(5-3-4-5-6-1-2-3)-(5-5-4-1-5-3-6-2-1-1).
- Take ROSE SYMBOLS 2/3.
- Walk down 3x.
- Use PAPER CLIP on BRIEFCASE zipper; take ROSE SYMBOLS 3/3.
- Place ROSE SYMBOLS 3/3; take FIRE SYMBOL and FIGURINE (L).
- Go to Attic.
- Place FIRE SYMBOL and use SCOOP; take WOODEN FINGER (M).
- Place WOODEN FINGER (N); receive YELLOW DART.
- Walk down.
- Place FIGURINE; take DOG BUTTON and FEATHERS (O).
- Walk down twice.
- Place DOG BUTTON; take RED DART (P).
- Go to Attic.
- Place YELLOW DART and RED DART; take FABRIC CIRCLE (Q).
- Select; place FABRIC CIRCLE (R) and FEATHERS (S). Play HOP; receive DARK CRYSTAL.
- Place DARK CRYSTAL (T); take OFFICE KEY (U).
- Walk down.
- Use OFFICE KEY (V); pull handle (W).
- Enter (X).
Chapter 3: Castle
- Play HOP (A); receive MAGIC GLASS and TALISMAN.
- Open Black Book (B). Solution: (3-4-5-6-3-2)-(6-5-4-3-2-1-5-6)-(2-3-4-5-1-2)-(6-5-4-3-2-6).
- Use MAGICAL GLASS on scene. Find symbols (C).
- Take two SYMBOL PARTS, and BROKEN AMULET (D).
- Place two SYMBOL PARTS (E); take HAMMER (F).
- Use HAMMER; take RUBY (G).
- RUBY on BROKEN AMULET; take ASTRAL AMULET.
- Use ASTRAL AMULET (H).
- Solution (I-M).
- Take BALLOON, ARM SYMBOL, HELIUM SYMBOL, and CHISEL (N).
- Select pumpkins; take HELIUM SYMBOL and STONE (O).
- Place two HELIUM SYMBOLS; take HELIUM (P).
- Use CHISEL and STONE; open casket; take HEXAGON TILES 1/3 and SCYTHE (Q).
- Use SCYTHE on pumpkins (R). Use SCOOP; take DARK PYRAMID and THREAD (S).
- Use HELIUM on BALLOON and select. Place THREAD, and then use WIRE CUTTERS on it; take INFLATED BALLOON.
- Place INFLATED BALLOON and use CORKSCREW (T). Play HOP; receive PUMPKIN AMULET.
- Place PUMPKIN AMULET (U).
- Go (V).
- Select scene.
- Take two DARK SYMBOLS, MATCHES, FISHING ROD, HEXAGON TILES 2/3, JACKHAMMER, and SCREW 1/2 (W).
- Look at note (W1).
- Use MATCHES (X); take HEXAGON TILES 3/3 and DEMON SYMBOL (X1).
- Walk down.
- Place HEXAGON TILES 3/3 (Y); take DARK SYMBOL (Y1).
- Go (Z).
- Place three DARK SYMBOLS on DARK PYRAMID; take CRESCENT SYMBOL.
- Place CRESCENT SYMBOL; take ELEVATOR KEY (A).
- Use ELEVATOR KEY and select (B).
- Solution (C).
- Enter (D).
- Take SLAB PARTS 1/3, REEL, SCREWDRIVER, HOOK, and CHALK (E).
- Walk down twice.
- Use SCREWDRIVER (F); receive LANTERN.
- REEL on FISHING ROD and select; place HOOK; take FISHING ROD.
- Use FISHING ROD (G); receive SLAB PARTS 2/3.
- Use CHALK; take RED GEM and SLAB PARTS 3/3 (H).
- Go (I).
- Place SLAB PARTS 3/3 (J). Play HOP; receive FILM REEL.
- Go (K).
- Place LANTERN (L).
- Solution (M).
- Take SWITCH.
- Place SWITCH (N) and FILM REEL (O); select switch.
- Use JACKHAMMER; take GHOSTS 1/4 and SNAKE SYMBOL (P).
- Walk down twice.
- Place SNAKE SYMBOL (Q); take CABLE (R).
- Go (S).
- Use CABLE (T).
- Go (U).
- Open vignette and select Black Book (V); take SWIRL SYMBOL and DARK AMULET (W).
- Take SILVER BUCKLE, JAR OF HORRORS, and SCREW 2/2 (X).
- Place SILVER BUCKLE; take HANDLE and GHOSTS 2/4 (Y).
- Go to Tower.
- Use HANDLE, SCREW 2/2 and SCREWDRIVER (Z). Play HOP; receive TWEEZERS.
- Place DEMON SYMBOL and SWIRL SYMBOL (Z1).
- Solution (1-8).
- Take VALVE.
- Go to Catacombs.
- Place VALVE (A); take GREEN GEM (B).
- Walk down.
- TWEEZERS on JAR OF HORRORS; take BLUE GEM.
- RED GEM, BLUE GEM, and GREEN GEM on DARK AMULET; take HEAD SYMBOL and DRAWER KEY.
- Place ARM SYMBOL and HEAD SYMBOL; take GOLD LATCH (C).
- Go (D).
- Use DRAWER KEY and select; take HAND SYMBOL (E).
- Go to Catacombs.
- Place GOLD LATCH; take GHOSTS 3/4 (F).
- Walk down.
- Place HAND SYMBOL; take GARGOYLE (G).
- Go (H).
- Place GARGOYLE (I); take GHOSTS 4/4 (J).
- Place GHOSTS 4/4 (K). Play HOP; receive BIRD SKULL.
- Place BIRD SKULL (L).
- Go (M).
- Use TALISMAN on scene (N).
- Solution one (O).
- Solution two (P).
- Select Black Book (Q) and girl (R).
