fromThe largest spider in the world is the Golaith bird-eating Tarantula. They can reach up to a foot in body length with an 11" leg span & 1" fangs. It's the size of a dinner plate & weighs the same as a newborn puppy. Females can live up to 25 years!

Holy Arachnoids, those spiders are ginormous! Mistakes have been made in the past alright, a deadly Black Widow Spider must have hooked up with Godzilla! Susan has been summoned once again to the Lost Lands, but something's definitely different this time. (did I mention there are ginormous spiders?) This isn't the Lost Lands of the past, and Maaron is nowhere to be seen. If Maaron didn't summon Susan, who did, and why?
Lost Lands is one of my favorite game series, (& my favorite dev) I fell in love with it the moment little Jimmy got swallowed by a tree! Susan is a relatable character, and this dev does an amazing job connecting you emotionally to the storyline. The CG graphic video cutscenes are extremely realistic, but what I like the most about Lost Lands, is that it's not a cookie-cutter game, they never are. You probably won't come across all the standard cliche tasks like wrapping a rag around a shard of glass and finding a smoker to drive away bees, and that's so refreshing and so appreciated! Another cool feature they offer is that for each group of collections, morphs and manuscripts completed, you will earn an Achievement AND you'll receive a new Puzzle or Mini-Game in the Bonus Levels section! (Collector's Edition version only)
The Hidden Object Scenes are Interactive-Progressive Silhouetted-Shape Puzzles. If you are not familiar with this type of Hidden Object Scene, you're in for a treat, because nobody does this style of HOP as well as this developer, and all of their games have it! You must find an object within the scene, that matches one of the Silhouetted Shapes shown in the Inventory Bar. Then you click on various Zoom Zones to find where the item can be used Interactively, which will expose the next Silhouetted Shape item that will be used in the next Zoom Zone until you Progress through all of the items. There is usually a small puzzle to solve as well. I love this type of HOP, they aren't just brainless click-fests, and they are really fun to solve!
The Mini-Games are awesome! Many of the puzzles make you refer to your good old-fashioned Journal, remember those days! I've always thought mini-games were lame when a slip of paper would appear with the solution code written on it. Why do they even bother including a game that has already solved it..it says everything you have to do, right in front of your face! I love the journal aspect, and it would be even more awesome if the entry wasn't needed to solve an immediate puzzle, but rather several pages later, so you'd have to scan through the journal entries to find what you need. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1-Place various sized boards w/o overlapping to create stairs.
2-Unscramble the stone letter blocks to create the correct name.
3-Enter the correct code you've seen before, or refer to the journal.
4-Open all clamps in the correct order by trial & error.
5-Place figurines so that they are all holding hands around the circle.
6-Enter the correct date and time you heard earlier or refer to your journal.
7-Create a path to get new boards & then to connect 3 dots.
8-Scan the area with a magnet to find the hidden item.
This Collector's Edition version has 10 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art Pictures, 16 Movie Video Cutscenes, 8 Music Soundtracks, 22 re-playable Mini-Games, 7 re-playable Puzzles, (more are added when you complete the collections, morphs & manuscripts) 22 Achievements to earn, 7 Collectible Posters, 7 Collectible Bloody Palms, 8 Collectible Funeral Urns, 8 Collectible Arachnoid Gold Spiders, 12 Collectible Roses, 9 Collectible Lost Lands Manuscripts, 30 Morphing Objects (Custom mode allows you to turn on/off the option of the cursor changing over collectibles & on/off option of showing collectibles on the Map) 3 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter (very long chapters) enjoy the past!

I have never fully played or bought a Lost Lands game because this series never managed to hold my interest, but this game blew me away! I decided to try Mistakes of the Past because I heard a lot of positive feedback on Ice Spell, the game before this one. I’m glad I did!
The awe-inspiring graphics, combined with the orginal, complex story, creative puzzles and HOS, and the fantastic visual effects make this an entertaining game to play! Although the puzzles are more towards the easier side of the difficulty spectrum, they are incredibly creative and different than the boring rotating or lock code puzzles. The HOS are silhouette, find and use scenes with many zoom in scenes and puzzles to solve. The cutscenes are beautiful and cinematic, and I love how the dialogue switch’s back and forth between the characters who are talking like medium close ups in a movie. The following list contains my thoughts, both positive and negative, about this game.
Pros:
- Beautiful Graphics and audios that creates mythical forests and temples as well as a Dystopian kingdom.
- Pace is consistent throughout the game.
- The cutscenes use visual effects to make them more cinematic!
- Camera angles switch back and forth between the characters who are talking.
- HOS are complex which adds some difficulty
- Puzzles are very creative!
- The time traveling gimmick adds quality to the game because it is not annoying and plays a key part in the story.
- Storyline is original and creative! It is not a cookie cutter recycled story.
- I Love the arachnoid!
Cons:
- Puzzles are too easy
Misc:
- I wish the arachnoids appeared more often to hinder Susan’s progress in her quest.
- The poison powder puzzle instructions are confusing

In the game there are many different types of collectibles in every scene and morphing objects in every scene.
I found the HOP scenes are interactive.
You find you have to escape from you captures and you are being timed. If you fail you retry.
I found this be a very a suspenseful game from start to finished
We all have different tastes. try the game, you may like or not.. But I did . Show less

One of the best casual games I have played. Gfx is top notch. The puzzles are a bit different and interesting, maybe a bit on the easy side. But so far a superb game. Also the voice acting is spot on. Maybe the story line is not so different. But that doesn't matter when it's put together as well as this. And nice to see a game NOT from Eipix for a change. This will be a must buy for me.

The ‘Ice Spell’ had set an end to the Lost Lands saga, as we have known it. In the Mistakes of the Past we meet Susan on a strange mission. The introduction of the game jumps into the plot right away with an action scene: a figure is running through a middle aged looking town, a giantic spider is following her, then somebody pulls her insight a house.
Susan has come to the parallel world out of her own free will this time. The stranger in the house is Fiora, Maroon’s great granddaughter. Maroon has been taken captive by the witch Cassandra. Fiora has found a way into Maroon’s laboratory and together they find out, what Maroon intended to do, when he was caught. Maroon had been adopted son and student of Cassandra since his youth, when she asked him to kill her, as she wanted to protect the world frome her deadly disease, which had befallen her, after being wounded in the war against the arachnoids. Maroon didn’t obey and only drugged her, so she fell into a deep coma and young Maroon gained time to find a cure. Only, he never found one. So he intended to correct the mistake of the past and go back in time to kill her and put an end to the disease, that had transformed her into the evil witch. Maroon failed again and it is up to Susan, to go back in time and kill Cassandra.
Not only has Susan come to the Lost Lands out of her own free will, the whole performance is different. This time our heroine has not to meet her challenges in a jogging suit, but has prepared for her adventure. She will not walk through portals but time travel via an amulet. A fresh touch to the series, which I like. Gameplay is smooth, pace fast and we have the creative ‘puzzle-HOS’! The story is given via dialogues and the scrolls, you find. Love it, they kept the diary, where one can always look up a detail, which may have gone missing. A really successful reset of an older series, a must-have for me. Show less

Cassandra has awakened from a potion-induced sleep after 500 yrs, so I imagine Maaron pulled a big boo-boo by giving her this little nightcap. She's definitely not in a good mood!
This game, IMO, has some unsavory subject matter going on. But it is just a make-believe story after all, so I ignore those things and focus on the tasks at hand and have fun with the game. I have done so with others when the game was too good to toss. This may put me at the bottom of the totem pole, but I can't help liking the Lost Lands series.
Susan and Fiora team up in the beginning of the game and are running from a big, ugly arachnoid. Arachnoids are roaming the empty towns looking for more victims. These critters are extremely aggressive and hate other races. They arrived from the Lost Lands parallel world and can understand and speak the language of Lost Lands. That is all I will share with you from the demo. Don't want to give away too much,
The characters were very life-like in appearance and movement. The voices were very natural and flowing, not stiff and jerky, the lip-sync was really good. I thought the graphics were excellent, not blurry. The demo mostly took place at night but the colors were good and the scenery was very interesting.
I always like the storyline of Lost Lands. The games/puzzles here were challenging depending on which game mode you choose. For demos I always choose custom if available, to quicken the game via the easier play settings. And I reduced the hint and skip to 5 seconds in this game. The puzzles still had good challenge. The HOPs were a little different and l enjoyed them. There was a good assortment of collectibles and extras, and the ever popular morphing objects.
The looks of a game could be prehistoric for all I care, as long as it provides a good time and runs with no tech problems. This one was just fine in those categories.
I know our reliable fellow fishies will fill us in on everything else with their wonderfully detailed reviews. That's why I enjoy doing a shorter version just to get my opinion out there. I truly appreciate the informative reviews. They are so helpful, I cannot shop without them. So, thank you everyone!

REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME AND BONUS
What a fabulous time travel game and I enjoyed every minute of it. In the main game you once again play Susan who has to kill Cassandra in the past on orders from Maaron. The bonus game is how it all began. There is:
* Casual, Advanced, Hard and Custom modes;
* Voiceovers (with dialogue);
* Interactive map;
* 22 Achievements;
* Diary;
* 22 replayable mini-games and 7 replaying puzzles.
* Find 30 morphs, 7 picture frames, 7 claws, 8 urns, 8 spiders; 9 manuscripts in the main game and 12 roses in the bonus.
The graphics are gorgeous and very well defined. Each scene is beautiful and very clear to see. Sound is good and the music is orchestral and now well familiar as it has been played in the previous Lost Lands games to keep you company.
The hidden object games are silhouette where you have to find one item to use to find another, etc. I loved doing these as they had a pretty good challenge to them and you also have little mini-games in them as well.
The mini-games ranged from easy to hard. Some took me ages to accomplish, however they are fun to do and I was never bored or felt out of my depth.
In each scene there is a morph and a collectible to find. I did these first as I didn't want to miss any. I turned the "hand" off to make it more challenging. This is the only developer I know who does this and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
The interactive map works well and it also shows what morphs or collectibles need to be found in each scene just in case you need it. This time I didn't need to use the interactive map, but I have used it before in a previous game.
Keep an eye on your diary as it shows things that you need to know to progress through the game.
All up the game, bonus and extra 20 puzzles took me a good 10 hours to complete, playing a bit each night throughout the week. I truly loved the story and mechanics of this game and that is why I have all this developer's games.
Overall a terrific game and so worth buying. Happy playing fishies. Show less

Lost Lands is my favorite series, which in itself says a lot, since most series slide downhill within the first few. This one hasn't! This game is as good at the first... no better!
The game has EVERYTHING I want in a CE! I wouldn't ever wait for the SE, as the extras are too numerous to forego. You want COLLECTIBLES? How about a small number of a few (which I much prefer to all one thing): palm prints, urns, spider figures, roses, manuscripts (a Lost Lands regular), posters, and the morphs (30). And they are NOT always easy to find!
HOS: Wonderful HOS! Progressive. Silhouette items to find and use to find others. With PUZZLES included! Not just mini-puzzles, but ones like outside HOS in other developer's games! And you know what? HOS are there for a reason, not just random HOS for the sake of a HOS now and again! They are in logical places and done for logical reasons with logical items!
PUZZLES: Lots of them! As in the HOS, they have a reason for being! Build stairs by fitting boards of different lengths. Place boards (not a similar puzzle, and not right after the other stair one) to three locations. Move figures so hands touch middle and each other (tricky!). That one was even something new,
None of the puzzles or tasks were stale. The inventory had a few of the usual things, but I was impressed by our use of a broken item. We did NOT have to fix it first! Bravo!
The graphics were perfect! The story was different. Not that we haven't had an evil awaken and threaten the land, but that the "hero" from past games is to blame by his choice many years ago. The Lost Lands is a time-travel game already, so using this hexagon thing is no big deal, and I didn't see it as a gimmick.
Anything negative? Well, I didn't like Susan's "new" look! She doesn't look good with that spiked frosted hair style! And I don't really care for the spider minions. Reading the manuscript on them (the manuscripts contain valuable info on the Lost Lands and their inhabitants) I learned they are not mechanical as I first thought. Other games have used spiders like these before. I don't dislike spiders, I dislike overuse of them as henchmen in games!
A definite purchase! Lost Lands is released about once a year, and the time spent between them shows. It also gives us fans time to eagerly await the next installment! Show less
I recommend this game!
