I love the beautiful artwork, the soft background music, original and unusual scenes and hidden doors to new locations. I like that there are hidden objects that are just ornate pieces to a larger puzzle, as I am a little tired of looking for horseshoes, cigars, umbrellas, gloves, dice, ect. which seem to appear over and over in other hidden object games. I have enjoyed the puzzles, and has appreciated the over all game flow. I played the demo which held my attention until it expired so I know I am going to enjoy playing the entire thing.
I also appreciated the 3 difficulty levels of game play. I played on normal but would have picked expert if I had been allowed to skip games if I wanted to. This game follows a logical sequence and I do not think the strategy guide would be needed for most players.
I would like Big Fish Games to include who the publisher is in the introduction as I have found that there are around 4 adventure and hidden object game makers that seem to get my money every month and make games that run really well on my computer.

Full screen, Wide screen and system cursor choices.
Difficulty: Casual, Normal and Hard with the latter having no “sparkles” or skips.
20 Morphing objects hidden throughout game that, as you find them, have the added bonus of speeding up the rate of your hint refilling.
Mini games though inventive and entertaining I found to be on the easy side. A couple turn up repeatedly but many others are thrown into the mix. All are graphically wonderful.
The game is not all together linear and there is plenty of room to roam.
A map shows areas of interest but does not help change locations so bring an extra pair of tennis shoes.
Guide is concise and user friendly with both text and graphics. It will also tell you what chapter you are in when you open it.
Bonus content includes a rather short added game play, extra new puzzles, wallpaper, movie gallery, music and concept art.
The game took me about 3.5 hours with an added 20 minutes for the bonus game. No skipping, no racing just enjoying the game. I even went off the story line for a little while towards the end and wandered all over to get the last of the morph objects that I had missed.
About 4 hours total for me and it was well worth it.
The game itself:
As with the other two in this series this game is very well designed and a pure delight to play.
The tale starts off by connecting immediately with their previous offering "The Frog Prince" and then it's off you go....
The story draws you in and tugs at your heartstrings. Good and bad are not so clean cut. Instead of just attaching the side stories it tantalizes you with little bites you have to work for by finding items that give it out piece by piece. Making you want to read the "parables" or short allegorical tales of of morals and truth that you earned. Lots to do, lots of things to look out for. This series has a great way of retelling the old fables we grew up with and interconnecting them. Even the bonus game of Hansel and Gretel ties back into the original tale.
The graphics at times are breathtaking and very much alive. Trees sigh, wind blows, flames flicker and jump. Birds, mice and rabbits among other things scurry away when you touch them. No dark scenes, no strange pixilation. The artwork is as always from this developer a story in itself. Just beautiful.
The music is part of the tale giving life and emotion to the surroundings sounding both sorrowful and haunting. Tell tale sound effects also alert you when needed.
All and all a game you will truly enjoy.
Hope this helped without giving away too much. Happy gaming!

Not so much of a hidden object game, the items appear at the bottom and you have to find them in a scene. The finished item then unlocks the next step. More of a puzzle adventure, my favorite kind!
During a blizzard the local children disappear. You, detective must brave the Snow Queen and her icy minions to rescue the kiddies, but it won't be easy. Even getting into her realm is a challenge. Long ago the Snow Queen took over the Frog Prince's forest, and not even the bravest knight has succeeded in breaking her cold embrace. But why has she suddenly invaded the town?
As with the other games in this series, I want to buy it NOW! Waiting for the standard version to come out is torture. Those of you who bought this version please fill us in on the extras. I know the bonus feature explains how the Snow Queen came to power.
The moving story screens are a bit blurry, I've seen much better. But the still screens are wonderfully crisp. Adorable little bunnies stop and stare, and in one scene you can tickle the bats. None of the scenes I got to were dark. I only noticed the music in a few places, which is exactly how I like it, as part of the whole.
During my hour I didn't find anything to be scary. Might be a good game for those who are easily offended by supernatural doings, but then, it's a fairy tale, evil vs good, and of course, magic galore.

Very similar to Dark Parables: The Exiled Prince. There are 3 modes of difficulty. The graphics are wonderfully drawn. I found the music very soothing. Fractured objects were cleverly drawn as with all Blue Tea games. There are special objects to be found and it tells you how many in each area.
Definitely looking forward to the SE and many happy hours.

This is an astoundingly enjoyable game. The artwork is fantastic and the music is perfectly matched to the game. The unique hidden objects are slightly challenging but there is a lot of enjoyment in the search and satisfaction when it is complete .... Then ...... its time to find where to use the item. Excellent!!!!

I have always loved the story of the Snow Queen, ever since I was a child, and really enjoyed this twist to the classic tale!
Being a fan of the Once Upon a Time TV series, I don’t mind when these new types of fairy tales integrate classic tales to make one unique and sympathetic “evil” character, still noticeable from the classics – as long as it’s done well and is cohesive to a good plot, making sense. It gives it a new, fun twist that I love – and this story idea was done very well and was a lot of fun to play!
The children were adorable, made you want to save them... Don’t wish to spoil any of the story, so will say that the plot intrigued, even left me misty-eyed at some points – with a very satisfying ending that (again) left me in tears and with the feeling I’d accomplished something good…
HOS (FROGS) –Loved them– and this game contained fragments of important things needed to fit together for the objectives – some easy, some a little more difficult to find- a good mix - but also very often pretty and fun to look for (gemstones, filigreed gold & silver pieces, ornamental crests, etc)
Puzzles were sometimes the type that you had to really study the scene, to figure out the instructions (not written out, but symbolic) to figure out how to play. I actually like those- it makes me think harder and gives me a stronger sense of accomplishment when I’ve figured out the unwritten riddle. I only had to consult the SG once to see how a game started, then did the rest on my own.
Music was lovely, fitting to theme. The graphics were beautifully drawn – in keeping with the wintry/fantasy feel of the game - and most of the time very pleasing to the eye.
Bonus stuff: I forgot to find all the morphs, was so caught up in the game, then couldn’t remember what area I’d located them in to try to go back and get the others (lol) but I did find half of them, and it did make the hint button fill up faster, though I didn’t use it very often, but that was pretty cool.
This is my 3rd full HOS game to play here – Phantom of the Opera Mystery Legends, my topmost favorite, is what brought me to this site and made me a fishie a month ago, now the owner of 40 games, (from the summer sales I've been taking advantage!) This has become my new addiction. ;-) – I also recommend Nevertales: the Beauty Within)… and after playing this Dark Parables game, I ended up buying three of the others, though haven't played them yet.
I wish though I would have gotten the SE for this - the bonus chapter had nothing at all to do with these characters and didn't add to or enhance this story - but focused on another fairy tale (Hansel and Gretel), which was okay- but I could have definitely done without confronting the giant spider! lol
And since I forgot about finding all the morphs, I was so caught up in the many tasks, I didn't really miss that aspect of the game either. I'm not big on wallpapers, looking at the concept art, etc, so if you aren't either, and the above extras don't really appeal, I'd go with the SE. Show less

Dark Parables is by far one of my favorite series of games, Snow Queen is one of the reasons I love these games. Dark Parables takes the usual fairy tale and gives it a bit of a twist to make the usual unusual. The Snow Queen has been nothing more than a folk lore handed down for centuries, now she has been seen by several people of the town causing most of them to flee, even worse several children are missing! It's your job as a detective to investigate the Snow Queen, fact or fiction, and of course rescue the missing children.
The graphics are stunning, there is a particular style of beauty that only Dark Parables seems to be able to accomplish. There are 20 morphing objects to find which will upgrade your hint meter to refill faster with each morph found. Keep in mind that the objects won't necessarily morph when you first see them, some require a certain action or chapter to activate them. This game is also famous for the collectible parables, several gems in several parable stories and when you find all of one parable, you can read a story about it.
The Hidden Object Scenes are actually Fragmented Object Scenes where you find fragmented pieces in three sections and when all pieces have been found they fit together to form a single item that will be used as inventory such as a trident or an emblem. There are tons of mini games, most of them involve creating a path using the correct number of colored tokens as shown above the game.
This Collectors Edition includes puzzles, wallpapers, concept art, music, movie gallery and a bonus game, Hansel and Gretel. I always opt for the CE simply because of the morphs that are incredibly well done, enjoy! Show less

I haven't got too far with this one (only in ch 1) but want to report that the graphics are as good as the previous game, with the video bits well integrated and working well. What I really like about the Dark Parables is when you find all the pieces in the HO scenes which make up an object, that object is so beautiful. And they are quite challenging to find -- very much so in this game. There are various tokens to find which when completed enable you to read a story. I wait to see what happens when you do.
The storyline is working well and I am feeling cold already... Haven't checked the strategy guide but the previous one worked fine and I don't suppose that's going to change for this game. I used the map quite a lot in Frog Prince and it looks like it will be used again as I get into the game. Show less
