If you're like me, a hard-core gamer who has stepped down into casual gaming as you've gotten older, you will appreciate the brilliance of this game. 'Adam Wolfe: Flames of Time' reminds me of some of the best games in the hard-core genre: Alan Wake, Heavy Rain, Max Payne, and L A Noire, to name a few. True, you don't have quite the stellar production of those games, but you don't have the hefty price tag either. Compared to the price of premium titles (if you buy them when they come out), this game is a true bargain.

The game is divided into 4 parts. Each two-part set is sold as a game for $6.99 US (for Big Fish members), making a total of $13.98 for all 4 chapters. Popular pc/console games can go up to $80. Yes, there are more hours involved in the more expensive games, but it's a lot more affordable to buy a 4 hour game for $6.99, than an 80 hour game for $80. Plus, Big Fish always has specials that help the wallet. Personally, I love the idea of a truly serialized game and hope we get chapters 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10!

This game is what I have been longing for, a true blending of the casual and hard-core genres. I'm in full 143 mode for its sleek graphic design, modern adult story line, elegant and intriguing game play, and excellent audio quality. It's a sumptuous feast after a diet of cheap take-out.

The developer madhead has broken through the limits of casual gaming, as those who follow their work will know they have been progressively doing over the last years, and created something which has the immersive depth , visual and in plot dialogue and character, which goes with hard core gaming and yet with the ease of play which makes casual gaming casual. They have opened a whole new genre maybe in the process of renewing the tired old genre of hidden object puzzle adventure gaming. By all means play this and I think you will be impressed and have a good time too!
It is the first two parts of a four part story arc which I have played through and without further spoilers beyond saying it will not disappoint ,I invite you to enter the story... Show less

This is one of the most unique games I have ever played, everything about this game is different. Adam Wolfe is a Detective of the supernatural on a never ending quest to find his sister Allie who disappeared under supernatural circumstances. In this demo, you can choose to play any of four cases, The Ancient Flame, The Devil You Know, Lady And The Painter and Zero Hour. I chose to play the first case so my review is based upon the case, The Ancient Flame.

The Ancient Flame:
The city has been plagued by strange fire breakouts, and people are disappearing. The SFPD is baffled so they have asked for Adam to help them with this arson case. As I mentioned before, everything about this game is different, for starters, the entire game is narrated by Adam, what his thoughts are, what he sees and even where he needs to go next and what he needs to do to get there. Adam has a friend named Marv that works for the department so Marv is the go to guy when Adam needs help with forensics and various information to help him solve the case.

There are several "tools" available which is another really cool and unusual feature. For starters you have a Smartphone that allows you to take pictures and send them to Marv, such as fingerprints, you can make and receive phone calls, and you can access the phones GPS system as your map. Naturally, you have a revolver and the gun icon flashes whenever you need to use your gun. There is an Intense Focus tool that helps you concentrate on a scene, the room will darken and you will need to find items that are out of place by searching for blue outlined objects. Eventually you will receive a Watch that has a supernatural ability to see the past. When you set the watch to the time you want to visit, you get to see events taking place at that particular time, which also reveal clues on the case.

There are Mini Games to solve as well, again they are tasks that help you solve the case, not just open a complicated lock or fix broken pipes. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:

1) Arrange the clues in a logical order.

2) Take items that are out of place in a picture and place them where they belong.

3) Assemble two torn newspaper articles.

This game is certainly different, it may not appeal to everyone, but for me, It's a game where the devs were thinking outside of the box and I loved it, enjoy! Show less

While there is a warning about its "graphic nature"-I found the game more gritty than graphic.
The storyline flows very logically-with puzzles and HOS fitting logically into the flow of the game.
The puzzles range from somewhat easy to somewhat challenging and give the real feel of being a detective.
It was certainly worth a free game coupon & would be worth buying with the cyber Monday offer-full price-not so sure-if it was the full game-probably so..
As always try the demo & decide for yourself. Show less

Mad Head has given the beginnings of a great new series. The storyline grabs you right from the start. A super good whodunit with lots of intrigue. The GPS app is a wonderful addition to the ever prevailing map. Not as many HOP's , but that is actually good as the story plays more like a graphic novel which you interact in. It was an immediate buy for me. Can't wait for the sequel!!

I love the storyline of this male lead as a detective of the supernatural and the fact he has been searching for his sister since her disappearance. The actor who plays the role uses inflection in his voice and convinced me he was really there. The sound is great and lifts you up as you go through the demo. There are not a lot of HOPs or mini-games to distract you during the demo, but they mesh nicely with the things you're given. This is a must buy for me and it's not even the collectors edition. I LOVED this game! It uses the typical "someone has disappeared" storyline, but this game is anything but typical. For starters, it is quite refreshing to play from a male point-of-view, as you are Adam Wolfe, searching for your sister who has gone missing. Second, it is really nice to focus on the story and what you need to do, instead of looking distractedly for morphing objects and hidden collectibles. While I enjoy the extra stuff, I feel that it would take away from this whole experience and am glad that the developers agreed and chose to leave them out. My first thought was "What...no collectibles?" But once you begin the game, you don't miss them at all. Third, the developers have approached the mini-games and hidden objects with a really creative spin on everything. I love hidden object games that utilize a story and you must find the item highlighted in the story...this game uses that really well and the mini-games are challenging enough without becoming frustrating or too easy. Finally, the storyline was intense and the warning is merited. While not particularly gory, but definitely violent, the storyline is rather dark. The artwork is rich and colorful, with a drawn quality to it...very well done! I rarely write reviews, but this game definitely warranted me writing one...I think the developers may be on to a new genre of hidden object games. I can't wait for the second installment and hope that it's released soon! Nice job, Mad Head Games!! Show less

I did not even finish the demo and went and purchased the game. Sound was great. Visuals great. Gameplay combines different things from adventure, ho games. More of an adventure but with things to do. I did not find any bothersome graphic scenes. It is in some ways reminiscent of the feel of some earlier games that I enjoyed but the quality is far superior.

I recommend this game!
