What a refreshing game! I really enjoyed the demo, and have already purchased the CE. Vendel really went above and beyond (shouldn't all games be like this?) to ensure a unique and FUN game! I RARELY give 5 stars...the game really has to earn them...and this grade was an easy choice for me.
The CE did not have too much that justified the cost, but the game is so good, that I'm not even too upset ...Show more

What a refreshing game! I really enjoyed the demo, and have already purchased the CE. Vendel really went above and beyond (shouldn't all games be like this?) to ensure a unique and FUN game! I RARELY give 5 stars...the game really has to earn them...and this grade was an easy choice for me.
The CE did not have too much that justified the cost, but the game is so good, that I'm not even too upset about it! There are 36 collectible hearts to find, and other than the usual additions (wallpapers, etc), that is it.
We have had a run of bland and boring games this year (I think I have purchased 5 so far, and regretted 2 of them), so I am happy to see this...another great addition to a series I really enjoy.

Vendal Games has outdone themselves if players enjoy a well presented magical, mystical theme--which this game hits high marks on all points. A great game to step away from the grill and make up an excuse to go inside to cool down in the air conditioning. Not zipping through this game as players work creative puzzles to advance. OVERVIEW: Does love conquer all? Well, in this game, you are going to find out as you play love-sick Aaron. Aaron – how much do you love your bride-to-be? Is it enough to defy the laws of nature – to upset the balance between the two worlds of the living and that of the dead? As a promising up-and-coming mage, you have magic within your fingertips! However, it is not enough to save your bride-to-be, Ophelia from death. Now your grief and love have propelled you to defy the laws of nature and enter the World of the Dead, fighting its lord to reclaim your bride. They say love is blind and in this case, you will deal with a blind witch and make a deal with a demon to enter this dark world. Is your love strong enough to doom the world to darkness in order to fulfill your selfish desire to save your beloved? Or perhaps, you can somehow find a way to save both.

There are many activities within this game to keep you “hopelessly in love” with this game! This game will appeal to all those hopeless romantics devoted to the quest for “true love” or those who like romance novels. The graphics are beautiful with opulent scenes. The story is loaded with saccharine, but is well-written and easy to digest. This is a beautiful romantic sequel to this series with an excellent pace. There is a gimmicky dark compass which indicates items which are hidden from view. Personally, I don’t think this compass adds anything to the game and would be better without it. I say only one collectible - hearts. I generally hate this developer’s games due to their excess use of helpers. However, for once, this is a decent game from them with NO helpers leaping out from the underworld. I recommend this game but it is a little too much of a sugar-fest for me. I cannot handle that much “undying love!”

HOP SCENES: The scenes are creatively designed. There is a multiple-step one in which you search for silhouette items followed by replacement of items back into the scene. There is a storybook scene in which you locate four (4) symbols within each of five (5) screens.

PUZZLES: There are quite a few puzzles and they vary in style and difficulty. Puzzle lovers should love this game. There is the option between Casual and Hard versions for some of the puzzles; however, the “hard” versions are not difficult. The other puzzles are extremely easy. There are quite a few physical puzzles. In one you try to get a grappling hook centered on a boulder. I found the two items which need to be centered to place that grappling hook on the boulder difficult to maneuver. There is another one which has an optional Casual and Hard option, which finds you stabbing a specific number of bubbles before the time runs out. Other puzzles include matching puzzles, switch puzzles, several rotating rings puzzles.

Pack your bags, we're headed for the Underworld to make the devil a deal! I've always been a fan of this, often overlooked series, which shows that Love is enduring, and has no boundaries, Love will move the heavens and the earth, Love will even enter the Land of the Dead to conquer its gatekeeper, Lord Phobos! I wasn't blown away by this storyline, however, because it lacks originality, and has been written and rewritten about a hundred times, in about a hundred different ways. I wasn't impressed with the Collector's Edition extras either, or lack thereof, because other than a handful of wallpapers and Vendel dev pictures, the only frill offered is 26 Hidden Heart Signs. You will use only one gadget, a Compass that helps you find caches hidden by magic. The compass isn't used a whole lot, and usually involves aligning symbols or places in the scene. There are no helpers or sidekicks, and I must admit I was a wee bit disappointed that Blaze didn't become my partner in crime, because Blaze is a really well animated, fire breathing Dragon Skeleton, nothing but bone, but really cool! (kudos to the VG animation and 2D graphic artist team!)

The Hidden Object Scenes are fairly well done, many of which are more of a Mini Game than a seek and find game. There are Interactive List finds which expose fragments to collect, Silhouetted Shape finds followed by replacing those objects you found into a different portion of the scene, and Multiples of the same item finds.

The Mini Games range from super easy, to medium difficulty, some of the games allow you to choose the difficulty mode of Casual or Hard. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:

1) Click on matching pairs of objects.

2) Swap adjacent tile sections to complete the image.

3) Select matching halves of keys, then choose the correct key to open the chest.

4) Restore the compass image by rotating the rings until all the lines match perfectly.

5) Find all of the witches' runes hidden on the map.

6) Press the correct dagger buttons as the falling bubbles pass through them.

7) Drag the parts into the center to complete the design, not all parts are used.

8) Select the scope when it turns green and then select the meter when the bar is aligned to throw the grappling hook.

9) Swap the doorknockers so that the rings match the faces.

10) Examine the scene and find four of each symbol shown during a story.

11) Place all of the marbles in their matching colored slots, pressing on the hexagonal tiles to rotate them.

I've been playing since 2010 and I'm not puzzle happy but liked these because they're fun and relaxing. It's a hidden object game, not a puzzle game after all.

Matching spiders, finding the right rune symbols, maze, marble in labyrinth. Arranging color skulls, recreate eagle, different in 2 deer, set moon phases which they have a picture for a guide, click birds in the right order, lead owls of the same color without crossing paths, find constellations with scope, find non-matching symbol, find match symbol-this one they did a lot. Catch ball in a container, Arrange 4 elements, arrange coins, play bells.

I have a blue flame companion which I didn't mind.

In the bonus you have more list hops, more matching symbols, Gargoyle which asks riddles and you find out about the blue flame. Show less

The story is one we’ve seen many, many times —a nefarious entity has kidnapped a loved one and only we are able to effect a rescue after, of course, undergoing many trials and facing evil adversaries. In truth, though, there are just so many plots that lend themselves to this type of game, and this one doesn’t suffer because of that sameness with others.

The HO sequences are not unique, we’ve seen these types before, but they fit the game quite well and do not detract from the game play; likewise, the mini-games.

Although I recommend this game for fans of the fantasy genre, as always, my caveat is that you play the demo and decide for yourself. Show less

I have to give them a hand but quite frankly, I was getting a bit tired of matching symbols after awhile and as much as I like matching pairs, IMO, there were too many of them. But again, the developers really did a splendid job, so I commend them for their hard work.

The flow was very good; the graphics were great; the music and sound effects were wonderful. To use the map you have to click on the journal and select it next to the tasks. The map was good.

I just completed the entire CE version and I enjoyed the Main Game quite a bit but I can't say the same about the Bonus Game, to be honest. It ends abruptly. Perhaps there is more to come in this series!

There were tons of interactive HOS which wasn't difficult at all. And you had a helper so to speak--a little bit eerie but he does help you when needed. The you've got your Dark Compass. I suggest you try the game out. You will have loads of things to do. For me, runes and symbols are cool but I think again, there were a bit too many for my taste. The HOS were simple and toward the end started to look like junk piles but you will find your items, I can assure. Be patient. It's always that last one that's tricky.

I recommend this game for sure. You may very well love it! The game, though challenging at times, was not difficult at all but tedious. The developers deserve a pat on the back for doing a good job! Show less
