In A Stranger’s Venom, the second game in the Enchanted Kingdom series you again play the game as the “Honored Healer.” In the game’s lead-in cutscene a beautiful young dancer, Clarissa Stark, is accused of using dark magic and then being thrown out of the Imperium Dance Theater by its manager Domenico. Fast forward twenty years, and as a reward for your valued service Dr. Klein has invited you to attend the dress rehearsal for tomorrow’s performance at the dance theater. Of course when you arrive at the theater things are not going well for Domenico and you must quickly jump into action to save him and to ward off the attack by the very angry young woman who attacked him. Why did Amber attack Domenico and where did she go? As you play the game you will discover the answer to those questions.
The game has the clear and colorful graphics that are signature to this developer who uses beautiful hand-dawn artwork. Your tools include an interactive map, and a task book that also includes notes. As in the first Enchanted Kingdom game, your special tool is the Healer’s Box that will allow you to diagnose and treat specific ailments

The HOPS are mostly the list type with some minimal interaction required. There are other scenes as well such as the storybook and silhouetted items types. I prefer the list type but the game does have something for everyone. I happen to enjoy the HOPS mainly because the items are not so miniscule that they are difficult to find. If you would rather not find items in the HOPS you can choose instead to play an alternate Match-3 game.
The game has an equal number of HOP scenes and Mini-games. There are plenty of mini-games and I like the fact that we can select either an easy or a hard setting when we solve a puzzle. Some of the mini-games are very creative and some I have seen before but they are all fun to solve. The option to choose your specific setting in a puzzle allows even those gamers who don’t care for puzzles to at least give them a try before hitting the skip button.
The CE content is fairly standard but in A Stranger’s Venom we have collectible statuettes and crystals as well as morphing flowers to find in various scenes. Something I like about games from this developer is that the user interface area includes circles attached to the inventory bar that will indicate if there are certain collectibles and/or morphing objects to be found in a scene. And yes, there are those inevitable achievements to earn. I don’t know about you but aside from being obsessed with finding all the collectibles and morphing objects, I never worry about earning the achievements. Other extras include the standard fare such as Wallpapers, Artwork, Movies, Soundtracks, replay of HOPS and Puzzles, an Imperium Library, a Bonus Game, and the Strategy Guide.

I love almost all games from this developer and since I enjoyed the first Enchanted Kingdom game, this one is a definite addition to my gaming collection. I know I dislike the interminable series that we get game after game BUT after trying the demo, a Stranger’s Venom appears to be even better than the first game in the series. Although there were a few things that seemed really silly when I started the game, I still enjoyed finding objects, diagnosing patients and mixing potions to be a lot of fun. All in all this is a game that I highly recommend. Even though it is a perfect game for me, please try the demo to see if Enchanted Kingdom: a Stranger’s Venom is a game you will enjoy.

REVIEW BASED ON THE ENTIRE GAME – TIME 4 HOURS
6 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter - Strategy Guide: 52 Pages
OVERVIEW: Imperium Healer – get ready to battle a diva who is a real witch! Out for revenge, Amber, is out to settle the score concerning her mother. Her mother, a famous ballerina, was wrongfully accused of witchcraft and, as a result, was fired from her job. This devastating event caused Amber and her mother to live a life of poverty. Amber inherited her grandmother’s witchly power, and is now using it to turn everyone into crystal to exact her revenge. Her mother’s ghost has now contacted you from beyond the grave for your help to stop her daughter’s rage. Amber’s aim is to retrieve the “Healing Heart” to revive the dark magicians to vanquish the Kingdom of Tar. Can you stop her vengeance before she destroys the entire kingdom?
A TRIBUTE TO DOMINI GAMES: I purchased this game immediately! This is another excellent puzzle-intense game from Domini Games. I always feel I get more game for my money with this developer’s games. I do not mind paying a little more for their games because they don’t skimp in producing a quality game with those little extras most developers are now removing from their games.
THOSE LITTLE EXTRAS: As in other games, Domini provides indicators on the inventory bar to indicate if you have gotten all the collectibles within a scene. You collect three (3) collectibles - crystals, statuettes, and flowers. There are many in the scenes and all are easy to locate. To appeal to more gamers, Domini goes the extra mile providing a choice of “Hard” and “Casual” options for most puzzles. There is a mini-game to play in lieu of the HOP scenes, in this case a Match-3 puzzle. You can also replay some of the HOP scenes and puzzles.
INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL: This game should appeal to those who like fairy tale games. Unlike most games of this genre, this game is fast-paced with plenty of activities to keep the player engaged. The graphics are bright and colorful as usual. The vivid colors are cartoon-like. The chapter dealing with the forest is breathtaking! The sound is much better than in previous games. They must have invested in a better sound system for their games.
HEALER KIT: You get a gimmicky healer kit used throughout the game. The “healing glass” will be used to identify crystalline formations on five characters in the game. You also will get a recipe after locating these crystalline outbreaks. You will then need to locate items to create healing potions. There is a puzzle involved in which you must locate the proper slots on a healing device for each of five items.
BONUS GAME: I have not finished the Bonus game; however, it is NOT related to the main game. Get ready for some baby napping (I promise you won’t fall asleep in this sequel!)
HOP SCENES: There are 20 HOP scenes in the game. They include the usual lists of items and silhouette scenes. There are storybook scenes with items listed in BOLD letters to be located. In one you must replace them back within the scene. There are two silhouette puzzles in the main game which are somewhat interactive. There is also a beautiful matching scene in which you must move lanterns to match up symbols behind the lanterns.
PUZZLES: There are 27 puzzles in the game and most have the option for “Casual” and “Hard” puzzles. They are creative as usual for Domini Games. Here are some examples of those from the game:
A. Twist me and turn me until I am a-maze-d! Maze puzzle. Create paths by rotating segments of the grid to create a path to connect 3 crystals and their counterparts opposite them on a grid.
B. Match my path! Maze puzzle. Move 3 tokens along a path by only moving onto those spaces with a matching symbol. After passing through a token, it will change to another symbol. Go back-and-forth maneuvering all three tokens until they all reach their proper positions at the bottom of the maze.
C. Gear up for a difficult puzzle! Gear puzzle. Connect gears. It is rather unique as the gears have lines emanating from them. The lines NOT the gears should match up. It is ingenious and a little toughie in the hard mode.
D. Mathematical puzzle. Angle mirrors so that the light from a crystal can connect with all the mirrors. In the hard version, moving one mirror affects the others.
E. INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL! Matching. Not difficult – just beautiful. Place butterflies on their matching flowers by color. Then the butterflies flutter away.
F. Connection puzzle. Move tokens to same colored slots without crossing lines. You are only given so many spaces you may move before having to restart the puzzle in the hard mode.
G. More runes to ruin your day! Matching puzzle with a twist. In three circles, place runes so they match up with those on a sword. NOT EASY! Move runes from one circle to another by rotating them and using arrows to transfer them.
H. The battle for worldwide domination against AI! Battlefield domination. Play against the computer to get more tokens in a grid than the computer. Moving next to your enemy’s token will result in their capture. Good! Take that Computer!
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore, Custom
Hints and Skips: 15 to 90 seconds
EXTRAS:
Map is provided at the beginning of the game
30 Achievements
Collect 39 crystals to purchase items for your laboratory
Collect 15 statuettes and 15 morphing flowers
You get a diagnosis lens and a healer kit.
Replay 17 HOP scenes and 17 puzzles.
16 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art, Music

After you saved the Queen from a strange illness, caused by black magic, in the first game, you are back in the kingdom and invited to the show of the Imperial Dance Theatre as a small award for your services. But again foul forces seem at work. The intro showed us Melissa, a dancer of the Dance Theatre, being accused of black magic, absolutely forbidden in the kingdom. As we later learn, this happened 20 years ago. But when we enter the theatre, we witness another woman (Amber) cursing the head of the theatre, Domenico, and poisoning him using a crystal. A green fog streams from the crystal and the man is shrouded in it. He is not dead, though in urgent need of your help. Further you need to investigate, what is going on in the theatre. Who is that woman Amber? What are her intentions and who is she connected to?
Investigating the dressing room, you find evidence, that Amber is the daughter of Melissa, who was convicted as a witch, though innocent. In a story book minigame we learn, she died after she had to leave the theatre and fell ill. Amber survived but is now obsessed with her mission for revenge. Not only has she tried to kill Domenico, but intends to destroy the Medico Order of the kingdom, who is responsible for the crusade against black magic. Her grandmother used to be a great witch and passed her talents and powers on to Amber, who now is a mighty opponent for us.
Again, a charming fantasy feast, spiced with many puzzles and HOS, all variable, puzzles with easy/hard option. As a healer, we are again equipped with the diagnostic lens and our medical kit. Both are used for repeated minigames (diagnosis with the lens, kit for medicines, ingredients are found during the game and then used with the kit)

Long ago during the reign of Emperor Carven, war broke out between the Imperial Army and the Army of Dark Magicians. The Medico Imperium Order managed to suppress the Dark Magicians uprising but there were some who vowed to AVENGE the Order in the name of the fallen brethren! These are Dark Times in the Enchanted Kingdom and it's up to you as Imperial Healer of the Order to protect it's citizens from a strange venomous vengeful sorcerous named Amber. Amber vows to curse everyone in the Enchanted Kingdom with disease causing crystals. You’re a respected and honored healer who has been invited to the theatre, and once there, find there’s shenanigans going on. What should be a relaxing, rewarding time is one fraught with danger and intrigue.Your job as a healer is to find all the ingredients to create healing potions. You are also busy chasing angry Amber, whose fiery temper keeps you constantly at bay. Armed with a Healer's Kit which requires mixing potions, you must use this kit to cure afflicted characters in this spellbinding adventure. When you discover the history of the Dark Army and The Imperial Order your objectives are clear. You must locate the "Healing Heart" and join it with the "Crystal Lily" in an attempt to truly eradicate all known diseases from the Enchanted Kingdom. It's no easy task either, with Amber's intent to only do harm so she can resurrect the Dark Army. The legend speaks of combining the sword of Emperor Craven he broke when he separated the "Healing Heart" and the "Crystal Lily". Only you can solve this perplexing situation and restore health to the disease ridden Enchanted Kingdom. Will you be able to out-wit the malicious Sorceress Amber? Find the sword, the heart, the lily and you just might have a fighting chance. The ambiance is beautiful and the colors are rich and bright. Purples blend into blues, and deep jewel tones surround you. Dimly lit areas add a soft glow to each room, which creates a soothing atmosphere. This is a setting I would definitely love to be in, minus the bitter and angry sorceress. Domini games once again delivers a fantastic fairytale adventure in this continuing saga, which deserved the Editor's Choice Award! I hope casual gamers will immerse themselves in this latest installment. If you like fantasy style games and don’t mind taking your time, then check this one out! I also recommend Enchanted Kingdom: A Dark Seed Collector’s Edition too. Cheers! Show less

Hey, guess what, the very first inventory item I picked up was a can of oil! Not just any oil, this is the good stuff, the kind that not only instantly removes 30 years worth of corrosion, but somehow restores the item to it's former glory! (well, after all I am a healer)
The next item I discover is a bee fogger, and just in the nick of time too, because there's an angry mob of bees guarding THE very area I need to examine more closely (I live on 7 acres of land and have yet to come across an angry swarm of bees in a random place, yet they appear in nearly every game!)
Soon I discover a bottle of water and you know what that means, yep I found a shriveled up plant that looks as if it flatlined about a year ago, maybe longer. Guess what happens next? Ta Dah! I add just a dash of water and this prune of a plant goes through an amazing cellular molecular transformation, and the rejuvenated chloroplasts instantly begin the photosynthesis process. Just when I think I can't be more impressed, poof! In the blink of an eye, my beautiful plant blooms!
Pretty soon I find a Hilt, and it's a good thing because over yonder's a knife with no hilt, and you and I know you can't remove a knife that's stuck in something without a handle. My only question is, if the hilt fell off in the first place, won't it fall off again when I give it a giant King Arthur tug? Did I hang onto the hilt for a while before discarding it in the next location?
There's a fireplace, I'm positive there's a very important object buried deep within it's fiery hot embers. Yes! I'm right, there IS indeed a puzzle piece I need, it's affirmative. Oh wait, I'm going to have to find an oven mitt, otherwise I'll burn my Healer Hands. Oh, here's one, all's good, let me carefully open the screen, careful now, HOT, very hot. Whew! rut row, an ember accidentally fell out, let me just pick that up with my UNgloved hand...got it?????
By now, I've done very little investigating and even less healing, because.....I've got to pick this lock with the hairpin I just found, I've got my priorities straight.
So now that we've completed all of the cliche and very predictable tasks, let's talk a little about the storyline. Clarissa was supposed to be the star of the Dance Imperium show, but was fired by the boss Domenico for the treasonous act of using dark magic.HR didn't get involved, innocent Clarissa meets her demise, leaving behind a bitter daughter named Amber. Amber Brown is not a crayon, but she does cry blue crystal tears. Being the fantastic healer you are, you agree to perform a ritual for Clarissa to help her weakened body reach the underworld. Clarissa assures us that she doesn't believe nor practice the art of dark magic as her mother before her did, so why is she willing to be ritualized by dark magic now?
In this Collector's Edition version there are 15 Morphing Flowers, 15 collectible Statuettes, and 39 Crystals to find that allow you to buy 15 different Medico Imperium Laboratory virtual items. There are also 30 Achievements to earn for all the usual milestones.
The Hidden Object Scenes are mostly Interactive Silhouetted Shape finds, but there's also one that requires finding and replacing Keyword items correctly, and there is an alternate Match 3 game to play instead of the HOP's. This CE version has 17 replayable HOP's in the bonus section as well.
The Mini Games aren't bad, and most are available in either an Easy or Hard difficulty mode. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Swap articles of clothing between 4 mannequins, using the sign labels as a reference.
2) Use the Diagnosis Lens to examine the patient, and click on the affected areas. (okay, I'll admit this is a stupid game)
3) Position the dancers limbs to match the image shown.
4) Use directional arrows to move flowers to their matching spots. Some passes may be affected if you cross over the red spinners.
5) Trace the symbol without drawing over lines twice.
6) Place ritual items in the correct space by moving tokens to adjacent spots.
7) Prepare a potion in the Healer Kit by placing all items where you think they logically go, then click the button to test your arrangement. Correctly placed items will light up, but if any are wrong all items will be removed.
8) Paint the canvas using the picture as a reference.

I liked it! Yes, we have the same old worn out story of the evil menace trying to destroy the world, or empire in this case, but nevertheless I am enjoying this game. There's nothing new here, same old worn out, overdone games and HOPs but I enjoy collecting statues, finding morphing objects and other collectibles. I have also seen the crystal disease in another game but that was long ago.

The graphics are gorgeous, the voice overs good. Can't comment on music since I always turn that off. Puzzles and mini games are not very challenging.
This may be an overdone, trite, worn out game but it is a pleasant past time without having a brain drain to solve it. I am giving it four stars simply because there is nothing new here. And, as penmom mentioned, some of it doesn't make much sense either but who said games have to be reasonable? Its called fantasy.
Try the demo and relax. You may like it too. Show less
