Boyle The Horrible OR Hero?

There are some RPG games I adore, and some that I can't even make it through the demo, but there's never been one quite this comical. I haven't played any of the previous versions of Aveyond, but this fourth edition is really interesting so I'm going to check out the other three. There are some RPG games I adore, and some that I can't even make it through the demo, but there's never been one quite this comical. I haven't played any of the previous versions of Aveyond, but this fourth edition is really interesting so I'm going to check out the other three. It isn't necessary to have played them because the cutscene at the beginning catches you up to speed.

Boyle Wolfbane had a plan, a plan to rule the world, but a group of heroes saved the day and forced Boyle into retirement. At least he still has his faithful dog Fang....or does he? When Fang is kidnapped, Boyle begins to realize that he might have to go towards the light and become a hero himself!

Aveyond has three different modes of difficulty, Misunderstood which is an easier mode with less enemies that do 20% less damage and respawn less, and your health restores with each new level. Villain is a normal mode, damage and spawning from enemies is at normal rates and your health is restored with each new level. Super Villain is an expert mode where enemies do 20% more damage, almost all enemies respawn and your health does not restore with new levels. There is a Journal with quests, an Inventory icon and a Fang attack icon available and you can tweak the Keyboard and Mouse settings as well.

This is a really entertaining RPG game with decent graphics and a really good storyline. If you haven't played a role playing game before, you should give it a try, and this is a good game to test the waters, enjoy! Show less

This is a nice addition to the Aveyond series. It's a stand-alone but does give a few nods to the previous games in the series. It's an interesting story about an unwilling hero (former villain) and his search for his dog. A whimsical twist to rpg storylines! The Amaranth team has yet to disappoint me with any of the games they've produced.

A 'must play' for fans of fun! :D

I LOVE this game! I have played all of the Aveyond series and nothing compares to them. This one is by far the best of the series! I love the story line! It's funny! It's very original. I've never seen one of these Rpg's that you play as a "villain" even one looking for redemption. The levels are fairly easy to get without a ton of grinding. I've never seen one of these Rpg's that you play as a "villain" even one looking for redemption. The levels are fairly easy to get without a ton of grinding. I've found a total of 8 level eggs so far to make that even easier. The monsters are visable and slow so it really is your choice on fighting them or not. Money is fairly easy to come by. All in all if you love Rpg games then you will not be disappointed in this! I knew I would buy it 5 minutes into my free trial. One of the best things about this game is that it is pretty easy to figure out what to do next and it's really not necessary to purchase a strategy guide. I hate those rpg games that are nothing but one puzzle after another that you have no choice to buy the guide in order to get through them. Show less

Although I just finished it, I'm playing it for a 3rd time and I NEVER play the same game over again right after I've finished it. I've played and enjoyed all of the Aveyond games but this has been my favorite. Although I just finished it, I'm playing it for a 3rd time and I NEVER play the same game over again right after I've finished it. I missed a few things and now I want to enjoy it even more by finding them. Boyle and his cohorts travel all over completing challenges to move them closer to their goal. The dialogue is actually funny and the challenges are easy to understand. The only drawback is there is no map. Once you're in an area you might wander around for a while trying to find your way back out. I ignored everyone's advice and bought the strategy guide when BigFish had games at half price. Not a good buy. I checked online when I was stuck and there are several forums that are helpful. If you like this type of game then you'll really enjoy Shadow of the Mist. Now I've got to get back to the game! Show less

This game is just plain, old, fun....There is a ton of humor...lots of goodies to find...Ships...dragons...snails ....floating skulls....something for everyone... If you enjoy turn based RPGs then check this out...you won't be sorry...I'm going the buy the other three right now!

As far as Aveyond games go this one has to be the best of the lot. Its certainly different to the others. Its certainly worth buying the game you will have hours of fun from it and its good value for money.
