What I've always liked about this series is that there are puzzles to solve and souvenirs to buy for the family. It's a great way to give your eyes a break from all the grid solving. You can also spend your coins to upgrade your power-ups. And there are achievement medals to win for completing various tasks.
But what makes Travel Mosaics different from any other game in this genre is the option to choose overall solving instead of solving by individual color. If you sometimes get tired of toggling between colors to solve a puzzle, go to the Options menu and change things up a bit.
There is only one minor aspect of these games I don't care for, and that's the music. It's the same music in all their games regardless of location. For this Adventures in Rio, it would have been nice to have some ethnic music to go along with the game.
I believe there are 200 levels, including the puzzles, so you definitely get your money's worth with this game, and I highly recommend it! Show less

I LOVE mosaic games and own all of the Travel Mosaics by Jet Dogs. “Adventures in Rio” is the 4th game in the series and, IMHO, all have been excellent. I LOVE mosaic games and own all of the Travel Mosaics by Jet Dogs. “Adventures in Rio” is the 4th game in the series and, IMHO, all have been excellent. I do have to agree with another reviewer who mentions those BIG black dots that fill the spaces on the grids where a colored tile is not placed. I too wish those dots were smaller and perhaps lighter in color. Because those black dots make the grid so busy, I find that I can only play a few levels before my eyes begin to bother me. So PLEASE Jet Dogs listen to your fans and change that dot style if possible.
This time our adventure loving family is visiting the beautiful city of Rio and taking in the sights and sounds. A wonderful adventure awaits all of us as we fill in squares and see the colorful patterns that develop. I love the tile options in the game and the beautiful array of colors. I haven’t bothered to change the tile set as I find the Bubble Look tiles perfect with their glossy appearance. Something that I appreciate with Travel Mosaics is that they are not always easy and it takes a bit more thought when deciding where to place a tile. Even while completing some of the first boards in the demo, I had to restart one board three before I got it right – lol.
I’m not going to go into detail on the game as other reviewers do that quite well. I will only say that of all the mosaic games we have available here at BFG, the Travel Mosaics are right up at the top of my list of favorite games. Although I love these little gems, please try the demo to see if Travel Mosaics Adventures in Rio is a game you will enjoy. Happy gaming! Show less

I love having a good nonogram puzzle game on hand for those times I feel like something different to play for awhile, something challenging yet fun. I also like that they're games you can put down and pick up at any time -- no real story to get involved in and anticipate the ending of, no inventory that I forget where and what to use it for as happens when I take a fairly lengthy break from an adventure game. I can play as long or as little as I want at any time, nothing I need to remember from the previous time I played. These games also give great replay value, can be played over and over again and are just as enjoyable down the road as they were the first time around.
This one fills the bill for me -- players can choose how difficult they want the puzzles to be (as explained in previous reviews), no guessing involved, a variety of appealing colours. I had no trouble with those big black dots but have experienced visual problems in other games so I sympathize with those that did and hope the developer takes note. My only complaint after playing for about 90 minutes last night (I purchased the game) was with the too-similar colours used in a couple of the puzzles. One I only struggled with a bit; the other I had to accept a 'mistake' for since I couldn't tell two shades of a colour apart no matter how hard I tried.
I highly recommend this game to fellow nonogram lovers (play the demo first of course, esp since some players are having a visual problem with it). If you haven't played this type of game before, I encourage you to give it a try - what have you got to lose but a little bit of time? In my opinion, it's a good one for beginners, experienced puzzlers and everybody in-between. Show less

I adore Travel Mosaics series, and I’m really glad that developers release new and new games about different towns and countries all over the world. Now it’s time for Rio de Janeiro. That’s an amazing place, and I believe that the bright colors, pictures and animation in the game show its beauty in the best way. There are 20 locations in the game. Every location is dedicated to a definite showplace of Rio, has its description (the “Book” icon) and 8 levels (7 nonograms and 1 bonus puzzle).
The player can choose the difficulty mode – easy, normal or hard. If you want just relax you can choose easy mode, use the bonuses and hints, answer the questions to earn additional hearts (lives) and have fun. If you’re a real profi and want to tune up your brains, you can choose the hard mode and try to finish every next level with 3 stars (that’s possible if you don’t use any bonuses and hints and don’t lose hearts). This way is a real challenge, and sometimes it takes a lot of time and mental efforts.
Travel Mosaics is a series for everyone who loves nonograms, interesting tasks and travels. And “Adventures in Rio” is great continuation of the series which is worth to be played. Show less

I love all the games in this series and this one does not disappoint. It has colors and a story line that add to the fun. The level of difficulty is perfect for players of all levels. All levels can be finished by anyone. My favorite part is the more difficult mosaics that take a few tries to complete with a perfect score. Perfect in many ways, this game gives hours of gaming pleasure.

I'm still bothered by all those black dots, I solved that issue a little by switching to the black background, but that caused me to have issues with some of the colors on some of the levels. There were a few levels that had such similar colors it became really difficult to tell where one color left off, but other than that, Jet Dogs certainly hit the mark again to bring us another fantastic Travel Mosaic.
There are now 5 Tile options to choose from, my favorite Bubble look, a Square with rounded corners, a Princess Cut Diamond shape, and a multi-faceted tile and a lunar-style. You can play in an Easy mode which crosses off cells for you, a Normal mode where you have to cross off cells that aren't available, or Difficult mode which only crosses off squares when the entire row and column has been completed.
As you fill in tiles, you will earn coins, lives or Power-up recharges. Power-ups can be upgraded twice from the initial base, and you can also buy various Souvenirs in the Shop. There are Power-ups such as a Hammer, Sun, Lightning and even a Bomb, which start out with very little area coverage and increases with each upgrade. There are 7 Achievement Trophies to earn as well.
Each of the Locations has 6 main levels, 1 bonus level, and 1 additional puzzle (jigsaw variations) You must earn at least 2 Stars on each main level to open the bonus level, and you must earn a minimum of 2 stars on the Bonus Level to open the additional puzzle. You also have to earn at least 1 Star in each of the main levels to unlock the next location. I believe the first Travel Mosaics game was this way, but the second one had bumped the star requirements up, so at least it's easier to obtain this way.
Each level starts with 2 Hearts or lives, and as you fill in cells correctly you will earn more Heart Lives. There is a Book icon on the bottom left that gives a brief description of each location, which will come in handy if you make too many mistakes because you will be asked some questions about the locations as a chance to earn another chance to play.

Prior I had complained about the dancing paintbrush inside the color you are using. Although I have gotten used to it I still wish that was a change to be made.
I purchased the game today along with the "tomorrow" mosaic. game. Two for one sale. So I have puzzles galore to explore. Show less

My only complaint is that on at least one level in the demo the red colors were so similar it was almost impossible to tell them apart; this is such a common complaint in these games I do wish the devs would listen. Other than that, it's a fun game and I did not find any levels in which I had to guess, so on that score it's good.

I love nonograms and Travel Mosaics are probably my favorites (along with Rainbow Mosaics). I bought the game and I'm enjoying playing it.
