Our Dragon Master has obviously been hard at work creating one of the best DragonScales games yet! DragonScales is a unique Match 3 game that allows you all the time you need to plan the placement of each Dragon Scale because this is a Strategy-based game that's the polar opposite of most Match 3 games.

The boards feature a series of honeycomb-shaped empty cells, (with the exception of various obstacles) and you must decide where to place the colored Dragon Scales that are presented at the top of the board in groups of 3, to hopefully, set up the proceeding moves for the next set of Scales. The first scale can be placed anywhere on the board, but the following two scales can only be placed on adjacent highlighted cells. The first 2 Scales can be returned to the top by clicking on them, but once the third scale has been placed, the next set of Scales will become available. Groups of 3 or more DragonScales will be removed after placing all three Scales, and you continue until the level goal requirements have been met. There are 130 levels and any of the levels can be replayed.

The Level Goals usually require removing specified amounts of each DragonScale color but some of the levels require removing various items, such as Daisy's or Crosses. Those items appear on the honeycomb cells and can be removed by placing scales on them and including those in a match 3 or more grouping. Occasionally, Coin Bags will appear on random cells and can be collected the same way as Daisy's or Crosses. After each level, you pick 1/3 Lucky Boxes to earn extra coins, but some boxes are just unlucky and empty. The Coins earned from completing levels (or won) are used to improve your Power-ups.

Power-up icons are located at the bottom of the board and are charged by making Combos. Coins can be used to upgrade the power-ups to recharge the Icon faster or improve the Scales attack during Battle Mode Levels. The upgrade panel will only appear if you have enough coins to purchase them. The Greedy Chambers is a feature that allows you to gamble with your available coins...if you're feeling greedy that is. First, you decide on the number of coins you'd like to risk, then you choose bubbles and circles in any order. The bubbles add coins to your bag, and the circles can raise or lower that amount. You can leave the greedy chamber any time with the amount you have in your bag.

In Battle Mode levels, you must make combo's to "hit" your enemies, the more complex the combo, the more damage you'll inflict. Some Battles are harder than others because sometimes the enemy fights back by placing several random DragonScales on the board. When battling the Boss, you must include Arrows within your combo's to defeat him.

This isn't a difficult game to learn, but it may take some time to actually master the technique of setting up large combos, If you aren't careful though, the board can easily fill up to capacity leaving you with no available scale placement options and you'll lose. (you can replay any level :) It won't take long to get the hang of it and you'll soon be on your way to becoming a Dragon Master...well, at least the Dragon Master's apprentice! (cuz the developer of this masterpiece is our Dragon Master!)

I have this entire series and ok it is the same format but they always add enough to make this such a challenge. This time you have keys to unlock gates and bonus money bags that pop up plusyou get side challenges like the greed game where you could end up richer of if greed gets you you could be worse off just adds to the fun.,

Once you get used to how this works you will be fine and it is very challenging and obviously the more you get into this the harder it becomes.
One thing I am not sure about is that the tiles no longer drop to the bottom. I used to like this feature but I will get use to it.
I did not bother with the demo just bought it as I knew it would be good but please don't take my word for it try the demo especially if you have never played this series before Show less

Id never played a game like this. It takes a couple of minutes to understand what you need to do, and once you understand, its a lot of fun. Some people may get it quicker than I did.
Lots of Achievements, Bonus rounds, Id love to play more like this! Very innovative game!

I really enjoyed the previous versions, this one has some troll like character that wants you to gamble to get coins to buy stuff. It really detracts. There is no option to eliminate this part, You don't have to gamble, but it feels more like an intrusion and is really not fun. The new daisy requirement is a pain in the neck too. I am with the other low rating - what next after the game tells you where to place the item, really what next - what fun or brain engaging is this? Have we a bug/glitch with this game?

This is a definite try before you buy as I am really not buying. Sorry.
