Hooray Morty the cat with more lives than is normally attributed to cats makes another appearance in this latest Mystery Tales game. Alas, Morty spends a lot of time snoozing on his pillow down by the hint button.
Mystery Tales Til Death turned out to be a surprisingly good game, one I really didn’t think I would enjoy when I played the beta. I guess I am not quite as burned with the whole evil bride theme as I thought I was since I found myself really enjoying the game and ended up purchasing it simply because I didn’t want to stop playing.
This developer has toned down its graphics and although there is still a bit of neon green the other graphics are rich with color. The voices are great and I love Morty’s voice that has just the right amount of snark. Another thing that I think is terrific and that only one other developer has done, is to give us a custom game setup that lets us choose how high or how low the hint time should be without imposing limits. Some other developers seem wedded to a 15 second lower end for hint and skip times and I believe that is simply used as a game extender because some of us hate to push that hint button. Thank you Domini Games for listening to what gamers have requested.
Another thing that I appreciate with Mystery Tales Til Death is that there is a fairly equal balance between HOS and mini games. The HOS are wonderful in the game and the developer has put a considerable amount of work into creating some beautiful and very well-designed scenes that most of us will enjoy. Even though I do not care for mini games in general as much as I do the HOS, the mini games in Til Death are very good and some even seemed to be a bit different than those that we normally see in every game. In fact, I didn’t skip any of the mini’s and found that I only had an issue solving one of them but that was just me because I misunderstood the instructions.
Domini Games excels at providing a lot of extras that make purchasing the CE a great value if you are a gamer like me who happens to enjoy the extra content. In the early days I started purchasing every CE because of the in-game Strategy Guide but as time has moved along and content in the Strategy Guides diminished, I still purchased the CEs out of habit. For gamers who are just beginning to play HOPA games, I recommend the CEs because they do provide some help when needed.
For me, Mystery Tales Til Death is a wonderful and entertaining game that kept me involved from beginning to end. The gameplay moved smoothly and better yet, it made sense. Not everyone will like the game but fortunately we all have different tastes. I don’t always like every HOPA game, but this is one of the better ones I’ve played this year and did find it appealing but that’s just me. As always, please try the demo to see if Til Death is a game that is right for you. Happy gaming! Show less

Your niece Heather Neville’s fiancé mysteriously collapsed and remained unconscious at the wedding rehearsal. As an experienced paranormal investigator, this case seems to be right up your alley! Travel to land as far as the Underworld to learn the truth about a vindictive spirit that tried to disrupt the wedding in the latest Mystery Tales chapter – Til Death.
Domini Games‘ Mystery Tales series has now come to its thirteenth game. All hidden object series have their fair share of highs and lows and in the case of Mystery Tales, a lot of middle-of-the-roads. Although the storyline in Mystery Tales: Til Death is not dreadfully boring, it pales in comparison to other notable bride-themed HOPAs such as Grim Tales: The Bride and Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride IMHO. The characters in this game are not layered enough for the player to feel passionate about them nor do they possess distinct personalities that take them above what is expected.
A so-so storyline can often be elevated by stellar, engaging gameplay. However, Mystery Tales: Til Death’s gameplay is also somewhat predictable and mundane. The hidden object scenes and the puzzles are far from original, even the option to switch to more difficult puzzles seems futile given that these puzzles have been used in a hundred other games before. The adventure gameplay is equally uninspired, it is packed with cookie-cutter tasks and an incredibly annoying helper Morty the cat. Sure, his ability to travel between the land of the dead and the land of the living is cool and all, but his constant snarky remarks are useless, distracting, and don’t serve the game any good.
Despite all these rough patches, at least Mystery Tales: Til Death looks great. While the series’ signature blueish-green filter still washes over most scenes, most scenes are creatively designed with beautiful detailing. The audio components of the game are also solid. The voice actors did what they could to bring these thinly-developed characters to life and the eerie music injects some much-needed suspense into the game. Which is why I gave this edition a 3.5 to 4 star rating....
CE OR SE? I chose the Collector's Edition.
Mystery Tales: Til Death Collector’s Edition is around four-hours long with an additional hour from the bonus chapter. The bonus section includes a strategy guide, wallpapers, concept art, soundtracks, videos, replayable hidden object scenes, replayable puzzles, achievements, collectibles, morphing objects, and a customizable boudoir.
I've been an avid fan of this series since it's conception; perhaps the next adventure will be more innovative and conceptually inviting. We'll just have to wait and see...Cheers!

fromIF this developer would cut out all the cliche repetitive tasks and give us a little credit for our intelligence level, their games would be fantastic! Not everyone wants to do the same task 40 times per chapter???

UNCLE, UNCLE!
Question: How many games in how many different series can one developer make with the same cliche tasks, the same exact puzzles, the same features, the same over-saturated graphics, the same collectibles, and the same ridiculously boring storylines?
Answer: All of them!
Gadgets/Helper:
First of all, the Mystery Tales Detective used to be a Female Detective and now She's an Uncle Detective? She used to have those infamous Mystery Tales Glasses that let her not only see ghostly caches but interact and use those items in the real world. In every game, those glasses would break driving us HOPA gamers nukin' futz. After years of enduring the broken glasses gadget, we fans were treated to a new form of technology...a paranormal Cell Phone which allowed us to speak with the dead! (how'd they get my number?) Of course, as most cell phones do, it broke as well...yea, new technology is on its way! Nope...we don't get treated to the latest and greatest mobile upgrade, so lets recap: the Paranormal Mystery Tales Gadget went from the Mystery Tales Glasses that allowed me to see hidden caches & interact with those hidden objects, to the Mystery Tales Cell Phone that allowed the dearly departed to speak with me via my cell phone, to a cat with a bit of an attitude, named Morty? In all fairness, Morty has the ability to travel between the land of the living and the land of the dead, so he's still a paranormal gadget. We also learn that cats at this stage are in their 10th and final life stage which is a good thing I suppose because I don't seem to have a very good track record with Mystery Tales Gadgets! Morty has a rather sarcastic attitude (my favorite type of humor) and he is rather adorable with his bi-colored eyes. His services are only used 6 times in the main 6 chapters and a couple of times in the CE Bonus Chapter, but because his cuteness factor is off the charts, and because he is on his 10th life and appears to be homeless, he gets a gadget pass! Besides, if it weren't for Monty, this game would be worthless!
Collectibles & Morphing Objects (CE Version Only):
There are 15 Post Card Collectibles and 15 Morphing Objects that are actually quite small and slightly more challenging to spot than the usual Domini bling. There are 63 Zoom Zone Heart Tokens that can be used to purchase 15 unappealing Boudoir Decorations. Domini never changes their bling, they just change the name but they always have 15 morphs, they always have 15 pictures or postcards, etc, they always have some type of coin to buy the same 15 decorations. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but now that they have stepped up to the plate to fill the eipix game-slot gap as well, that's a ton of the same thing on a weekly basis, so a little change would be good, if not expected!
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 13 Hidden Object Scenes +5 in the CE Bonus Chapter and an alternate Match 3 Game available, which btw, doesn't allow you to make consecutive matches quickly. (you have to wait for all tiles to stop falling before you can make the next match) It's almost as if Domini just gave up, or threw this game together at the last minute because the HOP's are some of the least creative they've ever done!. Most of them were Find 12 Items Finds or Spot the Differences and the scene locations were about as uninteresting as it gets. There were a few Interactive List Finds and Silhouetted Shape Finds but nothing remarkable.
Mini-Games:
There are 19 Mini-Games +9 in the CE Bonus Chapter. You can choose to play them in an Easy or Hard difficulty mode and you can choose which mode to have them start out in the Custom Setting (you can still switch between modes for each individual game) I can honestly say that I didn't enjoy any of these mini-games because they were just plain ole boring! Most of the puzzles required swapping tiles or moving tokens along a track to their matching slots, which are the same variations offered in all of their games, It's a slippery slope when you can't envision fresh ideas when releasing several different games each month.
Bonus Chapter (CE Version Only)
Wind back the clock in this average-length prequel about a cat-napping witch named Belladonna. This is an average-length chapter spanning over a whopping 10 scene locations with 9 additional Mini-Games and 5 Hidden Object Scenes. You will continue your search for the final 3 Morphing Objects, 3 Postcards, and 9 Zoom Zone Heart Tokens (of varying amounts) which allows you to purchase the final Boudoir Decorations.
Collector's Edition Extra's: (CE version only)
5 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art Pictures, 4 Music Soundtracks, 23 Movie Video Cutscenes, 40 Achievements (the same achievements offered in all of their games and notice how you earn them in the order shown AND you earn them when you didn't really earn them because they are given to you at specific set-points, not by randomly earning them. In other words, you won't earn the 5th achievement first because that's not when the game is programmed to award them...seems rather disappointing now doesn't it?), 16 Replayable Mini-Games, 18 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 15 Morphing Wedding Gifts,15 Postcards, a gazillion Missing Notes, 63 Heart Tokens, 15 Boudoir Items (purchase with Heart Tokens) 6 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

The visuals were beautiful, although the animation was a little stilted. The music was fine and the voice acting was good. But I felt altogether unchallenged. It had a syrupy quality that didn't appeal to me, like it was sort of oversaturated somehow. The whole 'stolen bridegroom' plotline reminded me entirely too much of the movie Corpse Bride. I like that movie a lot - but it didn't quite work for me here.
On the whole, I just didn't find it appealing enough to hold my interest. I uninstalled after about fifteen minutes. Show less

I wish BF would push more creativity in their hidden object games. How many times can they make new games out of either the princess theme or the ghost theme. There is an unlimited number of interesting topics they can go to without rehashing the old castles and ravens. How about African safaris? Other planets? Inside shopping malls? Sports? Zoos? Just about any topic would be interesting. I'm not buying another game until it's something unique and worthy. I have 100s of games and they are just rehashed versions of themselves. Show less
