The scenes in this are much nicer than the previous game, The Pacific Northwest. Scenes take a long time to load. Music is so repetitious and annoying, I had to mute it. It is like listening to a broken record....over and over again with no variety. Hope they will improve on this for the next game.

There is so much to do and so much variety in these games. You find a key and a star in each scene. The key is an informative fact and the star unlocks unlimited mode of play for that scene. I also noticed a morph in each scene for an item to pick up.

There are 5 different forms of play for a scene, so you will be playing that scene 5 times and will collect a total of 5 keys and 5 stars, which are indicated as you complete a scene. You can also replay the scene any time you want in any format...in case you missed a star or key or just want to play again.

After you complete 3 scenes, sometimes there are just 2 scenes, there is a puzzle to play that can be skipped. There are also hints available for them.

Besides having the magnifier in the lower right, you can also zoom in and out using the scroll on your mouse. That is a real plus.

You have 4 choices of difficulty to select after you indicate your profile name. If you choose Custom, just click on "Edit" and you can choose the timer selection. When you want to begin the game, click "Campaign" and you're good to go.

I am really enjoying this game and look forward to more of them. What a nice way way to relax~ Show less

It is too much like the other HOGs we are deluged with already. Being from this dev means the game will not be disappointing in quality. The graphics are always superb and there's more than enough to keep you busy for a long time. It is too much like the other HOGs we are deluged with already. Being from this dev means the game will not be disappointing in quality. The graphics are always superb and there's more than enough to keep you busy for a long time. Even so it makes no sense, for me, to buy when I can just reach into my inventory for a game just like it. However, we are usually learning about other countries so it is refreshing to explore our own backyard.

The locations in this game are brimming with HOs and other misc, making the scenery very busy. The list items are mostly hidden very well being in darkened areas or very small, some hidden in plain sight. Always thankful for the handy-dandy magnifier. You'll need it for those little items in dark places. The challenge depends a bit on the play mode you choose but I think it's really good even in easy play.

Features/options are great. There's a fun variety of mini games and I enjoy the fun facts which make the game educational for all ages. I actually know less about America than other countries. This is a nice game, the 12 bonus chapters make it appealing to CE fans. If you love HOGs you'll certainly be glad for this one to add to your collection.

It is a pass for me only because I already own so many of this type of game. Now I need something new to stimulate my interest. Show less

Love the graphics/visuals. Lots of colour. Items are not super easy to find which I love. Like the mini games. It's very relaxing and fun to play in my opinion.
Bought it right away.

Finding America: The West is similar in format to the Cruise Ship and Park Adventure Games. The good news is that there are many options to custom make games for your skill level and preferences.

There is tons of content in this game, so you will get your money's worth. Hidden objects, mini games, fun facts about the American West, downloadable pictures and more. This would be a good educational game for elementary students to learn about the The West and have fun at the same time.

The level of challenge ranges from easy to hard depending on the difficulty a player selects and the goal of each scene. The magnifier is necessary for objects hidden deep inside the picture. Unfortunately, the music is terrible, repetitive, and starts to become grating after a short time. It also sounds familiar; I know I've heard it in similar games before. Sigh.

It's not a bad game, but it doesn't stand out. There are many other games just like this one. If you are a fan of the series, then you need this for your collection. I will recommend the game because it's not awful, but I can take it or leave it. Show less

Found it; problem solved! I've found the Northwest, the Heartland, and now the West. Will BoomZap lose the East Coast next? I haven't been out West in a decade, but I don't remember seeing so many random items lying around. I can't wait to look for those Keys that give you tourist fun facts the next time I visit!

There are 30 Levels with various HO modes: Standard Listed Items mode, Picture mode, Silhouetted Shapes mode, Missing Vowels mode, Riddled Description mode, Scrambled Letter mode, and Matching Pairs mode. There are a couple of Morphing Objects in every scene and two Interactive Tasks per scene, such as "Put the Ribbon on the Box."

Each Hidden Object Scene has a Hidden Key that unlocks a scene-related Fun Fact. If desired, you can replay levels to get a new fun fact (5 keys/fun facts per location). Each scene also has a collectible Star that will unlock that specific level in the Unlimited Play mode.

After playing three Hidden Object Scenes, a mini-game becomes available, such as placing shaped puzzle fragments, Swapping square tiles, Word Search, or a Paint-by-Numbers variation where you swipe the scene to reveal a black & white sketch, and then you click on each section to color it in by dragging the cursor. As you complete the mini-games in the main game, those mini-games become available for replay in the Subgames tab. (50 mini-games total)

30 Hidden Object Levels, 12 Bonus Levels, 6 Exclusive HO scenes? 13 Achievements, 15 Wallpapers, 14 Music Soundtracks, 50 Re-playable Subgames, 5 Fun Facts per level (as you find hidden Keys), an Unlimited Play Mode (each HO scene becomes available to replay as you find hidden Stars)

What happened to the unlimited mode? The game says it's included but when I tried to play it, it was no different from the regular campaign. It's a ripoff.

I am a hidden object enthusiast and have my favorite developers and will buy and replay their games because they are a cut above. I personally don't think this game is CE worthy so I'll wait for the SE and maybe download that.

I'm sorry, but I want games that are more than this template they use over and over again.
There is absolutely zero story ---- not even the thinnest.
The same type of scenes are used.
The same mini games are used.
The same CE extras are used.
And the result is a slow, sleepy, and boring game that is just a grab for cash, imo.
This game in no way features the clever and beautifully done games of this type that we see from others like the Vacation games, for example. It is a poor cousin to those 5 star entries not to mention being a copycat.

So I hope these many, many snoozers may soon come to an end and the financial picture might allow these devs to go back to the high quality excellence of lots of their previous games.

If you like these old fashioned trips to yesterday, by all means take advantage of BF's generosity and give this one a go ---- and try to stay awake! lol Show less
