I was on the fence with this fourteenth game as far as Star Ratings go. I was a tad disappointed with some of the scene selections that had nothing to do with the park, such as a garage sale in a field, or Rangers enjoying coffee at the local cafe. I was on the fence with this fourteenth game as far as Star Ratings go. I was a tad disappointed with some of the scene selections that had nothing to do with the park, such as a garage sale in a field, or Rangers enjoying coffee at the local cafe. This is a beloved series because it is based on the Park Rangers at Pinecreek National Forest; and those who vacation there, not random scenes in random places around town.

A word of caution to Casual Arts: If the scenes aren't park-related with animal-based, nature themes every time, then this series will be no different than the thousands of ordinary HOGs already out there and fans will quickly lose interest!

Because Casual Arts (Filematch ltd) is dabomb-diggity, and the majority of the scenes are still park-related, I chose to give this game 5-stars. Hopefully, the scene selection in #15 will be more on point so I never have to worry about deducting a star :)

You can play in a Casual Mode (untimed-faster hint recharge) a Challenge Mode (timed-normal hint recharge) or Extreme (timed mode, all wildlife & recyclables must be found) There are 21 Achievements to earn for completing various tasks such as finding Wildlife, buying souvenirs, or finishing a mini-game quickly. You can purchase 16 Park Souvenirs with the points earned, and store them in a Display Case tab at the top of the screen.

Each scene has several Wildlife Animals to find that are shown as silhouettes in a box to the left of the word search bar and when all the animals have been spotted, the doors will close. There is a Wildlife Notebook that allows you to see illustrations of all the wildlife you have found. (126 total)
You will also Recycle cans, bottles, and paper found in each scene, and when all recyclables have been found, the recycle Can icon will be displayed as full. Some of the trash items are located within Zoom Zones as well.

There are 16 Photo Op scenes that allow you to take a photo for your Album whenever you see the Camera Icon so don't forget to keep an eye out for those Photo Ops.

You will earn an Eagle Eye achievement if you don't use either the Hint Magnifying Glass that shows the location of a single random item or the Mega Hint feature which shows the location of all available items from the list. You'll earn a Bronze Star for completing the Search, a Silver Star if you find all Wildlife OR all Recyclable Items, and a Gold Star if you find all Wildlife AND all Recyclable items. (extreme mode requires you to find all recyclable items & wildlife)

Words listed in Blue are Tasks that require an interaction of some type, and words in Red are hidden inside or behind things. Most of the scenes have at least one Zoom Zone (indicated by sparkling stars) that has hidden items and sometimes includes Recyclables or Wildlife. Levels can be replayed at any time to better your time/score (timer counts up, not down) or pick up missing recyclable items or wildlife. and the items to find are usually different each time you replay it.

After each Search Scene, you'll play a Mini-Game such as Placing Map Shapes, Spot The Difference, Word Search, or several different types of Jigsaw Puzzles (Rotate Squares, Swap Tile Sections, Flipsaw's, Slider Puzzles, etc.)

Simply put, I love this series and have them all. I buy them without trial anymore. Straight HOP is a nice change now and then. I never get tired of them.

Waiting for more Cruise Director and the like. Just messy fun!

Number 14 is super busy with activities, park attractions and interesting sights. Every scene is bustling with tourists, animals roaming about and filled to the max with hidden object fun.

This game seems to be of greater challenge, the items are very well blended, the trash and wildlife were not easy to spot, had to do a few replays. The ranger team has expanded, didn't see any of the "regulars" amongst the visitors in the demo. Mostly the usual assortment of games and puzzles but I always enjoy them. The terrific features and options add to the fun. Graphics are always top notch.

I love that there are no animated or cartoon characters. Just people, wildlife and establishments that are real and without neon colors. This is a great game that everyone can enjoy and well worth every cent of its CE price.

The new format broke the review page. It's been an entire month, BF is doing nothing despite my pleas to fix. I have to rewrite my reviews 3-6 times before they will "take" because the page completely deletes my text while I am typing. Now, I shorten my reviews to save time. It is horrible! Show less

After the last few VRPR was hesitant to buy this since I didn't care for them due to what I felt was rather subpar artwork, got sick of C&W music and just seemed to lose the "feel."

The scenes are clearer, love the music and I like going to the other park tho some of the items not familiar with being it's another country but did trial and error.

Glad to see our familiar rangers are still around (and sorry but glad that family wasn't in it - never cared for them). I have to agree with reviewers who said the objects were hard to find. In many cases they were as they blended right into the scenery (animals and trash) so several times had to use the mega hint to find them which lost me the eagle eye bonus and lost me a badge since I didn't play perfect. Like finding the camera icon.

And BTW really miss the do the mini game in under so many minutes - really enjoyed that.

So can say I'm looking forward to 15. Great job guys. Show less

I have all of the Park Ranger and Cruise Director games. Love them all! This new edition was more challenging which I liked. I enjoy the returning characters and the addition of new adventures. I gave just a "Good" review for the storyline, though. While I realize the creators are trying to be as diverse as possible to attract a wide audience, I chuckled at one national park so diverse that it included alpine, swamp, and pueblo/desert geography all bundled into one. I also feel the Hallmark Channel romance a bit of an unnecessary arc. Lastly, thank you for eliminating the "Completed Game in Less Than 5 Hours" patch. When you're playing a game you enjoy this much, you are in no hurry to finish it! Show less
