This was one of the many games I used to play when I was a kid, and I thought that I had lost it forever, only to find it again by miracle ! I had great memories from it, I can't lie by saying that it is as pretty as it was in my mind as a kid, the objects are really pixellised, however I wasn't disappointed by the atmosphere. It was like I remembered, the storyline (quite simple but promising I might say), the scenes and locations where it took place, as well as the music were captivating, and I can proudly say that I am really happy that I had the chance to play it once again after so many years. (Also it's a hidden objects kind of game, don't play it expecting a complex masterpiece, I solved the chapters when I was around 9 years old ;))
I wish they did a sequel, but that's the child in me speaking I guess.

About 3 ½ hours. Play as Hannah, an archeologist, who travels to Atlantis, followed by a treasure hunter, Wyatt. Game tracks your time and has a map which marks your progress. Subtle background music until the very end. Voice overs can be turned off, but I think the narrator and character voice overs sound natural and pleasant. Hints are replenished by finding hidden jewels within the scene – can be anywhere from 1 to 4. There are 5 colors of jewels, but you cannot collect a jewel if you already have one that color. Unfortunately, you’re not told ahead of time how many jewels or what colors will be in the scene.
HOS are silhouettes and finding the parts of objects, which are then used in the scene to move on to the next one. True, there are objects to find that didn’t exist back then, but this is a game, so I don’t care. The ending was sort of dorky, but we do leave the game knowing there will be a sequel in which Hannah must find Zeus in his temple to save the world from Neptune. Nicely developed game. Show less

However, I was quickly turned off by the recurring nonsensical elements of the premise. So, ancient Atlantis had the exact same amenities as 20th century America - including the use of the English language?? Tools behave under water just like they do outside? I'd be willing to believe that the entire "underwater" concept was added at the very end of the game, at which point they merely added a blue hue and some bubbles, and... tadaa! Atlantis!
Gameplay-wise, the game repeats a certain pattern in each scene: Find a dozen items, using their silhouette as reference. Find 10 copies of a given item. Find the difference broken pieces of a couple items being shown. One the item is fixed, take it from your inventory and use it on the proper hotspot. Now move on to the next scene.
I would only recommend the game if you're a die-hard adventure fan, and have ran out of options. Show less

I enjoy playing a variety of HO games so gave this one a try. I didn't finish it although I might if I got it on sale/free. The underwater color to all the scenes makes it difficult to find objects especially when they are shown as silhouettes only.
I recommend this game!

One HOS after another. You stay in one scene three times. First to find silhouette items. There is a penalty for misclicks where the screen turns dim for a few seconds.
The game suits beginners in HOS and FROGs. For advanced players this might seem boring.
If you are new to HO give it a go. For experience players there are better games to enjoy.

I'll admit that this game was part of a 15 game pack I had bought years ago. I didn't play Neptune's Secret until recently, as I realized it was the last game of the pack I hadn't played yet. While playing the game, I realized multiple flaws - all in the gameplay, storyline, and setting locations. I vocalized most of it in the videos I did on my youtube channel. (Which I will not reveal the name, as I am not publicizing it at all in this review. I say this not to cover my booty, but to be respectful to Big Fish's rights.)
So the story is that Hannah is an orphaned archaeologist, right? Right off the bat, we learn Callisto did something with an amulet and Hannah arrived at a nunnery as a baby with the amulet. We learn very little about Neptune and we learn very little about Wyatt the treasure hunter. Then Hannah receives a map of Atlantis from the Abbott.
The rest of the game is us exploring Atlantis underwater. Everything is shades of blue! You could say there was 50 shades of them. Haha. It is difficult to find ANYTHING! Even with the gems from the amulet as hints. And the hit boxes for the items are so tiny. It took me so many videos to realize that there are hardly any walkthroughs to help me out. I had to do screenshots and zoom in on the photos to find them all. (Big tip on that, btw. It totally works!) I do like that each location had three different stages. Not many HOGs I play do that. A bit tedious, but fun.
Now I'm returning to the storyline. The ending I won't reveal, but it definitely took me for a surprise. I didn't expect it. Merely because there was no character development at all, no background story on Hannah or Wyatt, or even Callisto and Neptune. There are so many plotholes. It definitely gives off that there's supposed to be a sequel, but I'm not finding one. A shame 21 Rocks LLC has no website. I have no idea if they no longer exist or not.
In any case, I don't think this is the best game for any beginner or pro gamer. For beginners, the coloring and having to squint your eyes just to find everything. For pro gamers, the coloring and game mechanics. If you're playing Neptune's Secret, good luck. As Rabbit's Fun World would say, may hope always follow you.
