It is another Grumpy Cat Monday (following Grumpy Red Queen Saturday) and on the leftover menu we have a delightful adventure SE game. I found this old school game delightful. This is definitely more of an adventure game than a HOP game. It has very realistic graphics with written dialogue as well as voiceovers. This well worth a coupon and a must have for me.

It is another Grumpy Cat Monday (following Grumpy Red Queen Saturday) and on the leftover menu we have a delightful adventure SE game. I found this old school game delightful. This is definitely more of an adventure game than a HOP game. It has very realistic graphics with written dialogue as well as voiceovers. This well worth a coupon and a must have for me.

Here is a breakdown of the game:

LEVELS: 3 - Casual (with glints and sparkles) , Challenging (no glints and sparkles), Extreme (no hints).

MAP: There is a map which is decent for an SE game. Yeah!

INVENTORY: You collect most of the inventory by searching for it within the scenes of the game. It is not interactive but most of the SE's do not provide interactive inventory items.

PUZZLES: The puzzles are fairly easy and a variation of those we have had in the past - the ones I encountered were electrical in nature.

HOP SCENES: Standard theme- based junk piles. Slightly interactive without the variation of CE games. You are penalized with a smoky screen if you click too many times.

EXTRA GOODIES - AWARDS - 18. You must find 30 beetles, and rare plants. You also get awards for solving HOP scenes without help, solving mini puzzles without hints etc.
BONES - Used in the game when needed. Light- Ground-Air-Water-Life to maneuver you in the gamne. They are "helpers" in a sense, the difference being they are not "thrown in" to be cute and adorable. They are a reasonable part of and are an intrinsic part of the game .

GRAPHICS: Well done - Very realistic character portrayals. More realistic than most of the SE games. They are sharp and clear on my computer Show less

I wasn't expecting much from this game, but I found it to be a really fun game. The story line is a usual one, Father disappears, Daughter goes looking & finds Father. That's nothing new, but this story took quite a turn that I wasn't expecting.

I wasn't expecting much from this game, but I found it to be a really fun game. The story line is a usual one, Father disappears, Daughter goes looking & finds Father. That's nothing new, but this story took quite a turn that I wasn't expecting.
There are 3 levels of challenge. I liked the fact that you can make the re-charge time the length you want it to be. I hate having to wait 10 minutes for it. The level of challenge is very good. There is an interactive map that tells you where you are, & what tasks you have to do in the current areas. That really helped, because there is a lot of jumping back and forth between scenes. There are also a collectibles in this SE (scarabs#. When you see the collectible, click on it first thing, you will not have a chance to go back & pick it up; so be on the lookout for them. I never found this game to be tedious or boring. I wanted to keep playing to see what was next!
Now here's my one gripe: The heroine in out story #the daughter) comes to this cursed island in a suit & heels! What?! That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen in one of these games - especially since she goes into a river, has to navigate through halls, weird doors, sand & lava. Wow... What were they thinking? So if that's my only gripe about this game, I'd say that this stands up as a really good & fun game. So ignore the fact that you're all dressed up, & enjoy this one. Show less

The game is awesome with about everything a Collector's Edition has except the walkthrough. Collect rare flowers and tropical bugs--called scarabs. The storyline is solid and leads gamers down a path rather than tell everything up front.

Actually had to start over as I didn't take the game seriously at first and thought it was just a fill-in. Trying to figure the light sequence at the gate lock and may be there a while.

There are also "sticks" of air, fire, water, etc., you can use (sort of like an amulet) as needed. The HOS were not junk piles and were in list form. This is a great game and kudos to the developers for offering a great SE without all the usual purple/pinks./glittery/.bling, etc. I loved it. Show less

Evil forces cannot be contained for long and when this evil spirit escaped, it unleashed it's powers upon the islanders, destroying everything in its path. Some islanders escaped, vowing never to return to this cursed island! This promise has been broken, Dr. Gordon Levitsky led an expedition to the cursed island to find the Mask of Baragus, the ancient artifact that supposedly unleashed the evil spirit, or at least that how the legend goes right? The entire expedition has been missing for days now, and the only person brave enough to search the island is Dr. Levitsky's daughter, Casey, and her Uncle Vladimir, who warned the Doctor not to go.

The story is really interesting, the cutscenes admittedly are horrible, yet the graphics in the game itself are decent, the characters very well done with fairly good voiceovers. There are even awards to earn (achievements) and there are 6 collectible Rare Flowers and 30 Scarab Beetles to collect as well! You will also come across an artifact your father left behind, Bone Plates that use the elements such as air, light, earth and water to help you in you adventure. Not bad for a stand alone game eh!

The Hidden Object Scenes are pretty basic, slightly interactive list finds, and I actually had to look up one of the listed items, a Scolopendra, which is an insect much like a millipede. The mini games on the other hand were a wee bit frustrating and require a lot of patience, turning on all lights but when you click on one light, others are affected as well. They definitely tested my patients!

Personally, I love Island adventures and I think this is an excellent choice of game to use a coupon code on. If you can cast aside the flaws this game may have compared to some of the big boys out there, then I think you will agree that this game has entertainment value, enjoy! Show less

Very good story, great game play, plenty to do, decent length, if you like dungeons, hidden tunnels, lava rivers underground like I do, you will get plenty of joy playing this game. I am not one for playing hidden object scenes, they were easy, that's just the way I like it, can happily click away merrily without any further game play. Worth 4.5.

I quite enjoyed playing the demo for this game. It looks and plays a bit old school, but it worked for me. The HO scenes are basic but enjoyable, and the puzzles are good. This game also has some features of bigger CE games, such as achievements and collectibles. Give it a try!
